Oh yes, we got SNOW. My kids are off from school today--they were off yesterday due to the holiday. I think we got about 9" last week and perhaps and additional 8 or 9" over the course of the day yesterday. My kids are thrilled...as for me, I'm ready for it all to melt!

Glad you have the support of your sisters as you face the challenges with your mother!

Low carbs today, keeping it under 40. Plan to stay low carb (50 or under) until Saturday.

The onslaught of a relentlessly snowy winter and cold temps has taken its toll on my gumption and energy. It feels as though my mind/body thing is covered in cobwebs. I can totally appreciate the seasonal depression thing that afflicts so many people, as I feel that I've become somewhat a victim of it myself.

I find myself digging deeper, finding strength in my soul.

I'll be spending a week at my beloved Marco Island on March 26th, and I'm counting the days...only about a month away. So ready for this break from winter blahs.

The 21's approach from my bicep workout the other day left effective reminders the day following.

Yesterday's workouts:

30 mins cardio
30 mins UB (triceps, delts)

Rich,

I first read about the 21's approach in Oxygen Magazine (that issue is at home), but here's a link that describes the concept.

(And just to be clear, don't let the title of this article fool you -- I'm NOT trying to build "massive" biceps.

Lisa, I am glad it served you well too. (I learn so much from Oxygen!)

HB, I'm glad that we often draw strength and renewed perspectives from all of our buddies at LCF's. It's why I keep coming back for more.

Feeling a little hungry right now. Going for a protein shake (in totals), but may have to add some nat pb to it. Hunger just sort of began out of nowhere right about dinnertime.

May have to update totals in the a.m.

Another LC day.

Can't work out again until Sunday because I had my hair straightened this afternoon and have to wait 72 hrs before I wash it -- i.e., no sweating.

TODAY'S TOTALS:

CALS.........1766
PROT..........183
CARBS.........36
FIBER...........11
FAT............105

WORKOUTS:

20 MINS AB JAM
20 MINS TRAINING (BACK)

Every time I see this image I begin to "covet."

Put me in that bathroom, in that tub, and it would take an army to get me outta there.

It's Saturday morning. The sun is shining, and temps will reach the mid 40s today...a perfect opportunity to RUN! --------And I can't. I can't get my hair sweaty, can't put it in a ponytail yet, and so I sit here instead, slaving over a transcript of a doctor's deposition, a doctor from India who never bothered to master the English language before he decided to practice medicine here.

The average Joe (or Joann), when they listen to someone crucifying the English language, can "listen around" the butchered speech patterns and gain both from context and other cues a cursory translation or understanding of what the person is saying. Getting the gist of it enables one to listen and to communicate. Not so with a court reporter. The gist isn't good enough. We are charged with the responsibility of preserving a verbatim record of every word and/or syllable uttered from a person's mouth, and so we're trained to listen and decipher rather than just "getting the gist" enough to communicate. It is no easy task at times. Trying to preserve the record of a person's testimony who has an incredibly heavy accent is just short of painful torture. It makes our brains hurt.

But it's my job. It's what I do. I'll get through it. Life can't always be fun and games.

Oh, but on a rare sunny Saturday?

Hi Twila,

I hope you are able to relax some this weekend.

Hope your mom is feeling better.

I added a new T-Tapp move, Ladybugs, to my workout. I it! Makes my whole body hum. Can't wait to see what it does for my abs!

Well, I was able to snare some of that gorgeous sunshine today for a run, and later a power walk with my husband. The sun felt wonderful on my face. The effects of the sun and the temps, the blue sky, did wonders for my soul and my mindset. What a beautiful day it turned out to be.

It had been a while since I last ran, and I took it slower and built up with intervals. All in all, 60+ mins of cardio today and some ab work.

I've been lazy this weekend in not keeping up with my tracking. I've lost some focus. That irritates me. SNAP.OUT.OF.IT.TWYLA. Tomorrow I will begin tracking for the week and keeping a detailed record of my training. Off my butt and back at it. Just get it done.

This beautiful sunshine today was quite the tease, knowing full well that more snow and cold temps are on the way this week. But it gives promise to our long-awaited spring.

Okaaaaaay. Back to proofreading...

Some days are harder than others.
And those difficult days often seem to last, well, forever.
I can give in, surrender, grow complacent,
or I can forge ahead.
I choose to forge ahead.

Good Morning, Twyla.

I haven't stopped by your journal for awhile. Sorry to hear your mother is having some health issues. She's fortunate to have your support.

Reading your post about your foreign doctor dilemma reminds me why I no longer do medical transcription.

Have a good day.

Hi, Val. It's nice to see you again. Thanks for the well wishes on my mother. She's facing some hurdles ahead, but my two sisters and I are trying to make her as comfortable as we can on her road to health and healing.

As for the foreign doc thing? OH.MERCY. It's just been NO FUN AT ALL. Trust me, this guy's name is going on my "no thank you" list. Taking his deposition even once in one's career is enough for me. This was a videotaped deposition, and I'm friends with the videographer. He even gave me a copy of his DVD so I could listen more closely and read the doctor's lips, whatever....it helped SOME, but still. OMG. What a pain this has been.

I suppose medical transcription would have its share of headaches indeed, assuming there was a lot of dictation from foreign docs.
