T, I am happy about your son. It must be exciting to watch him.

I look at your volume of exercise every day and am in awe.

I'm glad he did well! You must be so proud of your kids.

Is today a medium carb day?

Yep, yep, yep! (As Ducky would say)

Today is a medium day!

And yes, in fact, I was thinking that VERY thing on my drive in to work this morning, how proud I am of all my sons. They're so very different in their personalities and such, yet they all have proved to be such fine young men. It excites me to watch them continue to grow and mature and follow their dreams. It's like sitting on the front row, butterflies in my belly, waiting for the curtain to be drawn, a fabulous production ready to take place before my eyes. God has blessed me indeed.

Began the day with a run. Love running first thing in the morning (I've said that how many times now?). It's sanctuary. It's the best! Later today will be LB work. Tomorrow, Super Callanetics...which I've come to term,
"my active rest day."

Learn to love the process.

Make healthy eating and training a lifestyle, not just a means to an end. To do otherwise is a recipe for disaster and a pretty solid guarantee that any progress you make will be short-lived.
Learn to love the work, and it won’t be work anymore.
Make the realization that you’re making conscious choices and actions that lead to a better you.

THURS JUL 30

Ding-a-ling-a-ling....there goes the icecream truck down the street....

Medium day went SO VERY WELL today. Felt that wonderful "balanced" feeling all day today. It is a distinct feeling, balance. When it's present, there's no mistaking it. And I have never felt that specific sense of balance on VLC.

I remember back when I first began experimenting with adding more carbs to my nutrition, how scared I was, how sure I was that they'd set off cravings and make me gain. The most influential of all my friends who helped me at that time was "Donna," I think better known as RVCook? She was so informative, patient, reassuring and encouraging to me. She was the first person who showed me what it was like to feel "balanced." I love her for that. I wish she was still around on the boards. I miss her greatly.

So anyway, that BALANCE was completely noticeable all day today. I strategically chose (conscious choices?) my carbs today. My goal was also to keep fat as low as possible, letting the balancing of the carbs and the lean protein be my satiety and my energy as much as possible. Bingo. It worked.

I adore cottage cheese, and my main source of protein today came from f/f cottage cheese, whey protein, chicken and 1 container of fat-free yogurt.

I am anxious to begin my LB workout. I'm giving this last meal time to digest and work its magic (protein oatmeal pancakes), then I'll begin. All day today I've felt that sense of "lean," that sense of knowing deep down that I'm in the zone. Love that feeling. This latest "plan of action" seems to be working in my favor so far. For now at least. And that's good enuf for me.

I suppose I'll proceed with my next high day being Saturday. It will be good to get a surge; my body is longing for it. I feel it.
To prime for the high, I'll go for a low tomorrow.

TOTALS:

1588 CALS

PROT......187 GR....47%
CARBS....132 GR....31%
FIBER.......19 GR
FAT...........34 GR....19%

WORKOUTS:

35 MINS CARDIO A.M. (RUNNING)
35 MINS LB WEIGHTS P.M.
10 MINS CARDIO

Twyla, you are an inspiration to me and I am going to follow in your steps as much as possible. I am 55 and I am 112lbs, 5'1" I have been doing Callanetics for over a 1.5 years and I am not seeing results. But I will continue doing it as I like it and I must have lean muscles underneath somewhere.

My tummy is still slack and my sister in law has suggested in doing other workouts for my thighs and tum so I will now incorporate other workouts maybe (like you) Super Callan 1 day a week. I have printed out your posts on arm workouts and even got Ab Jam as it is one you used but I did not realise you did LB as I thought you bulked easily, apart form Callanetics how did/do you get your inner thighs slim and trim?

I am also changing the way I eat so that I eat clean as much as possible I use ****** to keep track, I am anxious that I am losing lean musle (the little I have) while losing fat ( I hope). My biggest problem is DOING what I have read and researched BUT NOW I must.

Thank you for being here and being you an inspiration.

Thank you very much. I will keep you posted or perhaps start a journal. I will read some others to get an idea what it consists of. As for cardio I have been getting very lazy over the years and looking for EASY ways to exercise. It does not work, oh hum, must burn the tum and bum. I will imagine a voice in my head spurring me on.

Elaine, the key with cardio is finding a form of cardio that you ENJOY.

Lots of avenues to choose from. Running was only one suggestion.

Get some good tunes loaded up on an MP3 and start with some heavy-duty power walking. It will get you outside, fresh air, relieve stress and burn cals all at once. (and the tunes just help make your soul dance)

As they say, if exercise isn't fun, we're not going to do it. So we have to find what's fun for US. Break through your self-imposed boundaries and just move. Baby steps lead to to bigger things.

Rich, he has done just fine this week. They've done mostly drills. It's been raining the last couple of days, so lots of mud-slingin' goin' on. Mommies love to see their son's come in muddy/sweaty from football practice...(at least this Mommy)...something endearing about that image.

I wasn't there, but his dad tells me they ran their 40's yesterday, and he ran a 7.4, I think it was. For his first, that wasn't bad.

Rained like CRAZY for about two hours this morning, car wrecks all over the interstate on the way to work!. So the field tonight is gonna be challenging, to say the least.

Luckily it's beginning to clear and they're calling for sun later this evening.

On plan and feeling good. Energy Saturday was incredible (high day).

Hungry for dinner and needing cardio.

Well, Miss Priss -- uh, I mean, Miss Pandora! It's about time you get your butt back to accountable surroundings!

Looking forward to hearing how you've been and what you're up to. The trip to VA? That's actually a bit far for me to drive it, unless I could plan to spend a couple days there, which won't work out for me. My middle son is leaving for college next week, and this weekend will be the last weekend to collect, buy necessaries, pack, etc., get him ready to head out.

My life has been CRAZY hectic the last 4-5 days, so I'm hoping for a little slower pace eventually.

My desk at work hasn't been this piled up in ... well, a while. Balancing court with deadlines, so my days are one big blur.

To update for at least yesterday (Lord, I feel so far behind in my journaling):

Yesterday was a med day in carbs. Went very well. I've been avoiding scales since I began TOM a week ago Monday, so hopefully I'll have the nerve to face the music on Saturday. My clothes are telling me good things. So we'll hope so.

Today is leg day.

TOTALS TUESDAY:

CALS 1466

PROT…179.….49%
CARBS 101.….23%
FIBER…27
FAT…….44.…….27%

WORKOUTS:

36 MINS RUNNING A.M.
25 MINS CARDIO ELLIPTICAL P.M.

Hey Gorgeous Ms. T! Wow everytime I visit I see how wonderful you look and get inspired all over again. I'm in week 4 of SI6 and it is kicking my bum! I started wth first 2 weeks with Ramp it Up - the Start it up was too easy and then did the 3rd week as an alternate btw Ramp and Burn it Up - WOW that BIU is kicking my butt! I still can't get through all the reps. I'm in 3rd day of the 4th week all BIU.

I finished 2 of my 3 online classes. Got an A for both - went to take the exams yesterday. So I should be back on the boards regularly! Hugs T

Hey backatcha, Rich.

Son 3's football: Well, I'm hoping he'll stick with it. He's had some complaints off and on. Football is a game of blood, guts, pain, sweat, puking, cuts, bruises, and a whollotta attitude. He's learning that, it seems. My husband has been tremendously supportive of him, as he has with all our sons. I try to get feedback from him for a "man's" point of view on how well he may do. He's cautiously optimistic.

This is his first exposure to football. I'm giving it time. It can teach him very valuable lessons about life. That's what I'm hoping for most of all.

Thanks for asking.

Kelley, thanks for the "sweet talk." Girl, I miss you way too much when you're gone. From now on, you'll need to get administrative permission from your fellow LCF's to take a leave of absence, ya hear? That SI6 sounds like it might be fun. If this winter is bad and icy, I'll have to find other forms of cardio. I may look into that.

A friend of mine will be teaching Zumba at our local Y this fall. I'm thinking of joining the gym. Not sure. It's not as convenient as working out at home, but I'd like to find other people who share a passion for fitness to "hang out" with from time to time, and looks like that might be the place to start. So I have dual motives.

I may go online and check out that website that let's you view video clips of workout DVD's and check the SI6 out.

And way to go on those stellar grades, Master!

So glad to have you back. Don't leave anymore. Got it?

Hey T, bummer! But totally understand...
I keep forgetting you're in WV not VA
Kelley & Linda & I will take plenty of pics!

WOW - Son 2 off to College!
Which college? Major/Minor?
How exciting!

But bittersweet for you, yes?
It's wonderful to see them grow-up --
But it's hard to see them grow-up, too!

My step-daughter is expecting our 2nd grandchild in Dec!!

OK, off to work, I'm on a redeye flight to DC 2moro nite --
this w/e in Sperryville is our "annual trip" with 2 of my best girlfriends ...
(+ their hubby's & kids)
... I've known these 2 women since 2nd Grade!! for 39 years!!

Last year they came to my house in CA; this year to Dana's in VA; next year to Quepha's in Lubbock, TX; and the following year to our place in Kona; then to Quepha's 2nd home in Palo Duro Canyon) -- then we'll start all over again -- cool, huh?

I will try to post a "real" catch-up of me; what I've been up to WOE and all that, either next week (I'll have internet at the DC hotel) or when I get back to CA.

In a nutshell, I'm still maintaining my 20 lb loss; I'm not counting cals/carbs or anything -- just eating healthy and eating/drinking less. I've become a much more "mindful" eater over the past 18 months. I really "think" about what I'm placing in my mouth. And if I eat "unhealthy"; I immediately compensate at the next few meals. I'm still waiting for OK (from hand/wrist surgeon) to lift weights again; I'm hoping by the end of the month I can resume strength training and really focus on this last 10 lbs.

But I feel thinner & healthier (& happier) than when I started at LCF back in March 2008; so I'm not obsessed over the last 10 lbs. It will happen; I will make it happen; just have to take it to another level (soon)!

I know that when I really put my mind to it; I can do it! Because I've learned sooooooo much valuable info here from incredible people like Twyla + folks (like btinc & Kelley, etc etc etc) that post in T's and my Journal(s).

I still feel like I've discovered the "secret" to relatively effortless weight loss...

...AND I've been coaching a few people in my "spare time" and will be coaching my buddies in Cary. NC -- they are really ready to do Organic, No Sugar, Low Carb with a healthy dose of exercise. They simply must!

As my friend recently wrote:
Got a bad call from the doctor on Friday – they want to see me and start me on the blood sugar meds (that is the perfect trifecta of fat medical problems – blood pressure, cholesterol, and blood sugar!!). The doctor wants to send me to a nutritionist. My only concern is that they will argue with me about a controlled carb approach. My plan at this time is to delay the doctor visit until after the cruise – maybe I can convince them that my new WOE is going to stick with me and I am truly committed (this time)!!

So I will be coaching & reinforcing during my visit. Today I'm FedExing myself a huge box of my LC books; cooking ingredients; supplies -- all kinds of goodies to show my "soon-to-be" thinner & healthier NC friends!

Geez! How did this get so long?
Later Taters!

Hiya Twyla!

I have been vacationing and summering, and now we're back to football! I haven't caught up w/ your journal, but I wanted to give a shout out to DS#1-only a baby 14 and he's made varsity!! Now he's actually agreed to pack on a few pounds! I chucked him some creatine yesterday, what's the word on that stuff around your house?

I've just read your one page here-bless your heart on your college-bound guy! And good luck to #3. My DS#2 is in his 2nd year of tackle, but he's a lot different than his big brother was. I call him my Scrawnito--he's not on the line, needless to say. He's pretty good at covering receivers, tho.

I sat next to a fellow on my flight to DC whose oldest is starting his first year at University of Colorado on a football scholarship. Dad was just flipping out at how much they spoil those guys. His boy's playing on the line.

Love your new avi! The carb cycling works like crazy, maybe now that I'm done vacationing I can get to some new lows!

OK, now I read the last couple of pages, what about going to a doc like mine for hormone issues?? Mine is a chiropractor who does applied kinesiology and specializes in metabolic and hormonal issues only, no bone cracking. I take calcium d-glucarate, which some bodybuilders take also, it removes excess estrogen. I also take progesterone, and an adrenal thing to keep my adrenals from draining more progesterone. When I feel schizty like you're saying, it's estrogen. I will be dropping the issue after this, I promise!! Oh, except for saying whenever she gets my hormones right, I immediately drop like 1/4 - 1/2" off my thighs.

When my 18 yr old was about 15/16, I had asked a friend of mine about the creatine for him (he is a trainer), and he advised against it due to his age.

To be honest, I've been "reading up" on these kinds of supplements, and I may be PM'g you eventually. Metabolic and hormonal issues only.........hmmmmmmm......very intriguing.

Had to run over to the mall (a block from the courthouse) to get a card for a friend, and while there, stopped into this shop that I can only DREAM of buying from...$$$....but I spied these awesome casual jean/pants. Lots of texture/details, but very tasteful and second-glance. The color got my attention first. So I've decided that when I drop ..... ah-hmmmmm...a few more pounds, I'll reward myself with either these, or something very similar. I'll be watching for the perfect style/fit, and they MUST be in this hot new color.

I prefer a rather monochromatic style for fashion, and I like mixing blacks, nudes and charcoals with one bold hit of color. This will be a fun color for fall (and fabulous with black), and their merit will be wearing them in a smaller size.
