I can tell you this: Not having to fight my hair every morning to get it to cooperate is worth a lot of money to me. I wish you could feel my hair! It feels like a baby's hair. It looks incredibly healthy and silky, and I'm convinced this look has even shaved a few years off -- of course, that is not an issue for YOU, but just sayin. I can't say enuf to express my complete satisfaction. I'm hooked. I plan to do it again when it's time. I'm told this lasts up to 3-4 months. What a deal!

And by the way, I asked my husband, and he said it's best for you to have your color done, then wait a few days to a week and you can proceed with the keratin treatment, rather than what I told you yesterday.
Thank you for all the info! Now I just need to get my husband to be okay with the $ for it. Maybe if you post before and after hair shots, he'll agree to it!

Dani, Angie, I WILL post before/after. I want to wait until I shampoo my hair (although maybe I should go ahead and take a pic of the way it looks now) and let it be freshly shampooed. Yo gotta remember, it's been since MONDAY that my hair has been washed. Now you know why I can't work out. Can you imagine? No, let's not.

But yes, I'll post the pics. I know it's $, but I'm tellin' ya, if this holds, and I'm as happy with this a week from now as I am today, I will hold more garage sales if necessary, but I will be making this a routine service. I think about the money I spend on stuff that I don't even care that much about, stuff in life that seems necessary or whatever, but doesn't really give me the satisfaction that THIS has given me? No brainer.

I'm still anxious to see what it's gonna look like after I wash it for the first time. I have NO idea what to REALLY expect. I'll keep you posted on this.

SUMMARY FOR WEDNESDAY JUN 10

I really don't like having internet service at home. I prefer posting my summaries at the end of the day. It gets confusing otherwise.

Yesterday was another low cal - low carb day. I did some ab work before bed. My appetite was somewhat lessened yesterday, more so than the day before, at least until right before bed. My stomach was growling as I laid down to go to sleep. The hunger just hit out of nowhere. I couldn't sleep, so I ate 1/2 tsp nat PB and a glass of water and that took care of it.

Today I'll increase cals and carbs to medium levels. I plan to work out this evening. The new internet service is scheduled to be installed between 5-7 pm.

TOTALS FOR WEDNESDAY JUNE 10:

CALS 1258

PROT.....159.....51%
CARBS....65......14%
FIBER.....24
FAT.........50......36%

WORKOUTS:

Light circuit of S. Callanetics and tricep work (a.m.)
Pushups
Power90 Ab Ripper 300 (p.m.)

GUESS WHO HAS INTERNET SERVICE AGAIN?

What a great day this has turned out to be:

Internet service restored.
I get to wash my hair.
The 72 hrs were up and I could get in a good workout after work (EXHILERATING!!!!)
The humidity outside has lifted.
I got a lot accomplished at work today.
I feel rested and energetic.
Good tunes to listen to.
Feeling "accomplished," I feel lean and confident for my first bikini in a few years for vacation.

Today was a med carb and med cal day. My targets worked out well. Was actually planning to put my cals closer to 1700, but wasn't sure where to go with the macros, and I was satiated, esp after my post workout protein shake and carbs. Looking forward to a run in the morning, and then I'll do some LB weights after work tomorrow. Anxious to see what my hair will look like tomorrow morning ....?

TOTALS:

CAL 1617

PROT....188 GR....47%
CARSB....120 GR...26%
FIBER......30
FAT.........53 GR.....29%

WORKOUTS:

20 mins light Callanetics a.m.
35 mins UB weights after work (all muscle groups)
25 mins s/s cardio, elliptical

FRI JUNE 11

Up and at 'em, ready for a good run. Just had a cc blizzard (w/ berries and l/f granola) and coffee. Feeling great this morning.

Washed my hair last night for the first time. Had to use special "keratin" shampoo, and it doesn't lather much, so I felt like it wasn't getting clean, but whatever. Of course it DID. Blow dried my hair (takes a while, there's a lot of it), and I was pleased to see that I could have gone w/o flat ironing my hair at all if I wanted. It wasn't as straight as it has been the last three days, having left the salon after she had flat ironed it, but the usual "big hair fluff" wasn't there, and it was just lying controlled and smooth and barely flipped on the ends, and I actually liked the look just as it was. If I want it very straight, as in no waves/flips whatsoever, I'll just have to barely run a flat iron through it a couple times, max 4-5 mins. Done. Don't even have to use flattening product. Very cool.

Hope this serves me well at the beach. Who wants to spend time fighting their hair when it's time to go out and have fun?

On the other hand, FL has major humidity, and it will be the TRUE test of how a keratin treatment holds up. I shall be the guinnea pig.

Yes, indeed....very ready for vacation. We may soon need an ark around here if the rain doesn't stop. Time to head south to sunnier/happier shores, no?

Didn't get to run this morning. Damn rain!

Turbo Jam and Ab Jam made up for it. Good, intense workouts. You always get out of it what you put into it.

Came home from work hungry as a bear. Had a snack and I'm ready to do a little LB weights, grill up some dinner, then relax for the evening.

Hey, Twyla - are you a court reporter? I am! I noticed in one of your posts you talked about a judge talking fast or something along those lines..... it sure sounded like you're a court reporter. I am a freelancer in Battle Creek, Michigan. I was an official for 14 years but quit to become a mom 9 years ago. I take deps now. Let me know if I'm right - maybe we can exchange brief forms!!!

MMM, It's great to meet up with another court reporter on the boards.

Glad you stopped in to introduce yourself. Yes, been a CR since 1982. Freelanced for about a year right out of college, and I've been an official ever since, excepting 9 months in 2001 when I lived in Virginia; freelanced there. I do a little freelancing on the side when I'm docket-free in court and/or don't have a transcript backlog. My judge is supportive and very good to me.

I'm on Eclipse software. What about you? (I LOVE Eclipse.)

I would LOVE to exchange briefs with ya. We should definitely do that.

I'm getting ready to go on vacation (leaving Tuesday) and will be gone through June 28th, but when I return, I'll hunt you up and we'll get some exchanges going, K?

Hmmmmm, let's see....how about: PH O BG T?

Nice to meet you.

This is what I love about your journal! You are accurate with your reporting and you show your human side to all of us who read. That in turn makes it easier for us to allow ourselves to not be perfect and see that incredible progress can be made as evidenced by yours.

Hey, have a great vacation! I'm on Case CATalyst. I like it, but haven't had the time to learn all the little cool stuff that I know it can do. I just do the basics.... take a job, read, translate, edit, print, out.

We should probably exchange email addresses, we'll bore our fellow low carbers to death with talk of brief forms. I brought it up b/c I realized on a recent job that I had written "intentionally" in four strokes I know there's got to be a better way!

Anyway, my email is thehubclub@att.net. My name is Marilyn Hubbard. I'm 44 years old, married, have two kids, 9 (dd) and 6 (ds)... my dh is an electrician. Have a great vaca and we'll chat when you get back!

ps. came up with my own brief the other day on a dep.... d*d = degenerative disc disease. Been trying to use the * a lot more! Cya!

Marilyn, (love your name) we'll email when I return. That's great!

BTW, I assume you already write degenerative D-J ? So I either write degenerative disc disease: D-J/D-Z (two stroke it), or I have a brief for that, and mine is D-DZ.

And I write "intentionally" with two strokes: SBENGS/LI

We'll have fun exhanging our "pots of gold."

SAT JUN 13

Spent the day cleaning and organizing, both physically and mentally. Productive day.

Today was an all cardio day. Tried to keep cals lower, but I knew that I wasn't gonna be able to keep it very low. Seemed hungrier today than usual. Still ended up with a very decent deficit, factoring in my cardio and TDEE.

CALS 1628

PROT....193...48%
CARBS....94...21%
FIBER.....29
FAT.........64...35%

WORKOUTS: Cardio and abs; adductors

32 mins s/s cardio, elliptical
32 mins running intervals (45/30 x 20)
Power 90 Ab Ripper 300
2 sets of 50 sumo squats (30 lbs)

After my run....JUST A TAD SWEATY!

Twyla,

I am thinking of changing my journal name. I have come up with a few possibilities.

Ricardo carbo rotato

Ricardo lifto weighto

Ricardo's wide world of weightlifting.

Saturday night Ricardo

Ricardo Potato ( don't be afraid of carbs)

Rico Sauve

Whose afraid of a big bad Carb?

I got one if I go back to Atkins I can have a southern theme. It can be Ricardo Lowcarbo starring in Gone with the Carbs.

Or how about? Twas the night before Ketosis

I not sure about any of the above. I will have to keep thinking.

SUN JUN 14

Very busy day. Last min laundry, packing, organizing, herding, cooking, cleaning, details, watering plants, mowing lawn, the list goes on. We wear ourselves out before vacation so we can collapse and recover ON vacation.

Works for me. Just praying for a safe trip and happy memories.

Today was a pretty controlled day cal/carb wise. I ate Carb Master yogurt with some s/f pudding stirred in late last night.......I had a sweet attack. I think it was an emotional need more than a hunger need. Oh, well.

So far today, 22 mins of s/s cardio and some tricep work. More packing to go. Then plan to do another 20 mins s/s cardio before bed.

TOTALS:

CALS 1329
PROT.....145....44%
CARBS....57....15%
FIBER.....21
FAT........67.....45%

Not a lot of down time lately. I'm ready for some chill time. Gonna make sure I take Bob Marley's Greatest Hits with me to load onto my MP3 for some beach tunes. I can taste/smell/hear/feel it already!

Hey girl, glad you're just about ready to go!

I tried your protein balls recipe to take on my church camp trip. They're great!! Another keeper from Twyla!

I did some major hiking while at camp and my legs were so, so happy. The kids had a blast. Lunches and dinners with the whole camp were really good, and I sure don't plan to step on a scale right away.

I'm off in July for a trip back home, and thought I'd follow your carb rotations for the next 5 weeks.

We'll see you when you get back!!http://images.lowcarbfriends.com/lcf...ilies/hugs.gif

WOE: Carb rotations/mod carb
Thanks for all the well wishes, Laurie, Gina and Dani.

Laurie, I'll be most happy to help you with the carb rotations when I return. They make life a whole lot happier, as it should be. Once you adjust and get in the habit of knowing what you like to eat on low, med and high days, (or low/med and an occasional high), it's like clockwork. Second nature. You just do it. It's just how you learn to eat. And it's very versatile.

So, speaking of carbs, today was to have been a medium carb, med cal day. The carbs weren't too far off, but I went over on cals. Got VERY hungry late afternoon and blew my targets. But factoring in TDEE, I'm sure I still came out in a deficit. Everything I ate during the late afternoon "feeding"was clean: Cheerios, yogurt, rice cakes, 2 squares of 85% Lindt, walnuts and almonds.

I got in very decent workouts today. Felt great. My last run for a while. I'll probably do about 30 mins cardio first thing in the morning before I leave for vacay. No workouts at all on Wed-Thurs, but I'll be doing a lot of walking -- at Disney.

Likley will not be posting while on vacation. Can't wait!

TOTALS: 2092

1 HOUR SUPER CALLANETICS
30 MINS UB WEIGHTS, CIRCUITS, minimal resting

22 MINS S/S CARDIO, ELLIPTICAL

Twyla,

Have a great time on vacation!!!! Remember, If you are looking for dinner at Disney. The Artist Point, inside the Wilderness lodge. Great food, Great Wine. You can take the fairy from the magic kingdom right to the wilderness lodge and then back.
