T - I know we joke that you are superwoman (which you are) but even superwoman needs to hang up her cape every now and again. You really need to take time for yourself sometimes. Even just a 30 min power nap (or a 2hour 45 min one!) to recharge your batteries. You should make a nap/rest part of your day just as you have made working out so. Sorry if I sound preachy...that is entirely unintentional - just concerned for you hun.

Have a good day T!......Relax!

Yes, Rich, Glam, I need to prioritize better. I deserve to have the time I need to do what brings me joy and purpose, but I have to balance that with my obligations to family and friends, and I'm not very good at that at times, it seems.

Everyone needs to learn the art of unplugging and recharging, learning to recognize when it's time for either, and then doing it.

Neglecting either one leads to burnout and indifference.

At this time in my life, taking care of myself is more important than ever before.

I second that. It is so vital that you are aware of this too, it makes all the difference.

WED MAY 20

Much better day today all the way around: Hunger, energy, attitude, focus, clarity. The sleep did me a world of good.

Med carbs today. Will post totals later, but I'm at about 100 carbs for the day. Ab Jam, LB weights, and bicep work this morning; 20 mins HIIT this afternoon. Had an opportunity to catch some sun -- while I caught up on reading -- this afternoon. Felt wonderful.

Off to another ball game.

Surb, not to worry, you can pick right up where you left off. Main thing is, do NOT give up on Callanetics. Commit to the program, pay attn to form and don't just zone out during the workout; try doing it at least 3 x a week; throw in some cardio and some UB weights, and you'll have that pie-in-the-sky transformation, girl.

Glad you're feeling better.

Hey Twyla,
Not better actually I skipped all workout yesterday so sundays not a day off now.. I think Im having another flare up in my chest
This is what I have I copied from web:
Costochondritis is an inflammation or swelling of the cartilage between a rib and the sternum (the breastbone). Cartilage is the spongy tissue that lines and protects the surfaces of joints.

The condition is more common in women and can cause such sharp chest pain that it is sometimes confused with the pain of a heart attack. The pain often is aggravated with movement, including that associated with taking a deep breath, coughing, sneezing, stretching or turning side to side. Pressing on the involved area is especially painful.

So yeah its pretty bad right now, It was hurting last night, I had to get up and stretch the part between my shoulder blades and I rubbed on some cream for inflammation that Im hoping will help...I will do 10/10 tonight and see if it helps.

Wendy, don't take this lightly. Go see a doc. Do it. Let them diagnose what's going on and go from there. Pleeeeeeeeeeeease?

Okay. Today was a cardio only day. I wanted to squeeze in 20 mins tonight, but it didn't happen. Had lots of stuff that needed taken care of with my oldest son, so I'm glad I at least got in my running intervals this morning.

Tomorrow will be a low carb day.

Wellllllllllll.....YES! My middle son qualified for the State Championship in the Regional Meet last week, so I'm gonna go watch him throw on Saturday morning at the State Meet.

Grilling steaks out tonight.

And I'm taking the day off, which gives me a four-day weekend. Gonna lay in the sun today probably. May end up at the pool before the weekend is over.

Looking forward to this one.

Only kidding, of course! And I love Queen too! Classic sound!

I'll need to check out INXS to see if there are some tunes I should have.

Twyla, Congrats on your son! My favorite band is Queen. T, with your church singing, you probably like the song somebody to Love. It was written with Aretha in mind. I will tell you. I took a lot of sh*t for liking Freddie Mercury as a kid, but I stuck to my guns and remained a loyal fan. I like people for who they are, not what others want them to be.

Enjoy your day off!

Again, you and your husband must be very proud of your son.

G, thank you for those well wishes to Gavin. It's his "Swan Song" of high school athletics, another chapter ending, another one soon to begin. Each one as meaningful as the next. It's rewarding to see this young man, who just yesterday was my husky-voiced toddler with "an attitude," grow into this huge, powerhouse athlete, who never settles for his second best...always pushing more and more, higher, farther, better.

Already looking forward to his football season this fall at college.

Wow, yay Gavin! And he already is signed up for college football? Where's he going? Congrats, congrats! Can't wait to hear how he does.

My DS#1 followed up his triple play last week with a double play this week, just 'cuz that's how he rolls. We're just getting geared up for high school football. I hope to pack some muscle on him this summer. What did you find with your big guys, how quickly can they add a pound of muscle?

Laurie, congrats on that follow-up double!

As for building muscle, obviously genetics has a lot to do with the pace at which one builds muscle. But the key is to get his butt in the gym and lift heavy, with passion, with commitment, and no excuses. That's one thing I can say about Gavin, all the coaches would tell us he was always the last one to leave the weight room every day. First one to get there, last one to leave. He LOVES lifting. Nutrition is the other key element. You gotta eat enough, and ya gotta eat protein and fuel up with enuf carbs for adequate energy and gains.

In addition to his lifting schedule with his HS team (which began in January and went through summer, before they focused more on football drills, speed, plays, etc., for the season), he also went 3 x a week to a local trainer who worked with young athletes, identifying their deficiencies and would do heavy-duty training with them, plyometrics, weights, speed drills, etc. And then when he wasn't at either of those places, he hung out at the Y. Last fall he was squatting 620, and for power cleans, 275, and this was following a broken elbow that had been healing since June, so he was limited on what he could do on some of the stuff. He just never stops, never gives us, lets nothing stand in his way. Turns up his nose to adversity.

He'll be attending Washington & Jefferson College this fall, playing noseguard.

Give your son the opportunities for adequate training forums. Get him in the weight room, make sure he's eating enough, and eating clean -- plenty of protein and carbs. It's up to him, how bad he wants it.
