FRI AUG 9

DAGGONE IT. I should have weighed myself this morning. I might have been pleasantly surprised.

Based on the way I felt last night, I was planning to avoid the scales.

Based on the way my pants fit today (haven't worn this pair in QUITE a while!!!!), maybe it as all in my head. Whatever is goin on, it's a good thing, regardless of a number.

Maybe I'll go ahead and weigh tomorrow.

Twyla,
It seems you are on a good streak of feeling good and making wonderful choices.... THAT IS SUPER-FANTASTIC!

I do hope the scale is good to you and that your measurement bear out all of the effort and work you have been putting into you.

The heat does no one any favors... It's hard to stay sane..... Lots of water and fruit can help..... Smoothies????

Keep it up, girlfriend... I've missed "chatting" with you but I had to step back for a bit...

Hang in there! Sending powerful positive vibes and prayers your way.

Hi, Gina. Sweet of you to drop in.

I've been away for a while, mostly due to work and so much other stuff I've had to juggle.

I was afraid that not posting would keep me unacccountable and more likely to stray, but I'm so pleased to say it hasn't. This is my way of life, and it's hard to unlearn good habits.

I've been exercising on plan, eating on plan, and had one "cheat day," if you want to call it that. I read somewhere that it's best to eat your cheat meal late in the day, and I think I will agree, but I tended to eat and graze all day that day, and it took me about 3 days to get rid of the extra cravings it seemed to induce. Had it been only one meal, late, I would have handled it better.

Have backed off weights intentionally to allow my center back muscles some time to heal. May have lifted to heavy or just overdone it on a session several days ago. Tenderness there. So I've concentrated on Callanetics (how CAN I go wrong there?) and cardio. Staying off the scales. Just have no desire to see a number.

Letting my clothes and the mirror guide me. I feel good. In control.

Just incredibly busy and I'm in "coast" mode. Haven't even reported my ****** for over a week. Today was the first time. I'm a creature of habit and tend to eat mostly the same things.

Had a HORRIBLE sinus headache all day yesterday. It began after Turbo Jam yesterday morning. Tried everything to get rid of it, no good. I plan to do Super Callan later today, almost afraid to do any cardio with my headache still lingering.

Began TOM today...seems like it just was here, so I wasn't ready for it. Ironically, I had a HUNGRY day on Monday, didn't "connect" it, and Tuesday was far more controlled. Then woke up today, Wednesday, with the arrival. Funny thing is, I don't even feel bloated and overly "heavy." This is great.

I've been eating CoProBark pretty much every day the past week, so that may have helped satiate me during days I may have been hungrier or craving.

Gotta get back to it.

Miss the boards.

Yeah!!! Twyla's back!

Yes, hard to balance life, work, the boards... Glad your new habits have become a way of life... that's an awesome feeling isn't it... when we gain control of our lives in the most intimate way. Most men just don't 'get it' on this point for many women...

Looking forward to seeing your around

Gina - Come on over! It's amazing what pumping a little bit of iron does to a girlie body... And don't let Twyla fool you - she was another one of the inspirations that got me off my flabby duff!

My food today was all off the top of my head. After dinner tonight, I entered everything in ****** for the first time in about two weeks (been AWOL with work stuff), and here's what I ended up with:

Cals 1764

Prot Gr 164, 37%
Carb Gr 84, 57net, 16%
Fiber Gr 27
Fat Gr 98, 49%

This includes 2 T of coconut oil (in the CO/Pro Bark)

Today's workouts were:

5:30 a.m. - 20 mins upper body weights, no resting; followed by 15 mins elliptical
4:30 p.m. 20 mins elliptical

My shorts that I have on today are a bit looser. I'm encouraged.

Hope I can post more often. It's not just about accountability. It's always good to trace one's steps and analyze what does and doesn't work.

(Hey, Gina! )

I remain incredibly busy at work, and PC at home has a virus, so no time to post...hate that.

BUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm so pumped! My clothes have continud to get looser and looser the past few weeks. Workouts have been great.

I'm keeping emphasis on carb tapering for eats, and it seems to be very effective....I'd love to weigh (just to know), but the scales don't always validate true progress. I KNOW I've lost weight, but I'm not interested in the numbers.

The mirror, my clothes, my body shaping -- that's my guide. As always.

Twyla, how ya doing? I know my work hell will continue until end of October.. Does yours have an end date?

Doesn't Marci look great! I tell you that's what I want! Today during my workout, I was doing some tricep work and I could actually SEE the muscle working... That really jazzed me!

What position does your son play? I hope they won.... School football games can be fun!
Hope you have a wonderful weekend....

Back to journaling again. I've been a stranger to these parts.

My work (state court reporter) is very unpredictable. There's no rhyme or reason to how busy we'll be in court. Sometimes we have it easy, other times we're swamped, and there's no way to tell when it will let up. In addition to my court docket, I prepare transcripts of matters on appeal or under review. That's also very unpredictable. Sometimes I have a handful, other times, there's a constant stream of transcript requests.

I had two week-long jury trial appeals to work on at the same time, in addition to several other requests, plus my daily court docket. That's why I've been so busy.

Gina, I'm glad you're working out with weights....I love it myself too. Yes, Marci looks wonderful. It truly is a body-sculpting experience. I look at it as competing with myself, me versus Mother Time .... And I'm winning! IN YO FACE, MOTHER TIME!

I want to be fit, toned, strong and healthy as I age....cardio alone just won't get me there.

My son plays defensive tackle and offensive guard for his HS team, and he played nearly the entire game on Friday night...a few rests for timeouts and for kickoffs. He made some PRETTY tackles, had an awesome second half, and even recovered a fumble!!!!!! He's a HORSE and loves the game. I soooo enjoy watching him.

Close game, went into overtime, and the opposing team beat us by 1 point. What a game! I had no voice left at the end.

I'm holding my own with my weight. I am gonna weigh about Wednesday of this week. Just came off TOM and didn't want to push it. I feel a bit leaner, so I'm hoping for continued progress.

I'm sticking to around 60-80 net carbs per day. Most of my carbs are eaten early in the day, mostly close to my workout time. Fibrous and tapering as the day wears on. I don't keep ****** as diligently as I had been due to time constraints, but I'm eating foods that I've memorized and love.

I really miss LCF. Wish I could post/read more. It will happen.

Hanging on till the storm passes.

Was supposed to weigh this morning and totally forgot.

I was rewarded in any event when I put on my "smallest" fitted suit I own. And it fit.

IT FITS!

Walking a bit taller today.

Back to Super Callanetics 3 x a week for a while. Time to switch it up again.

I've not posted in my online journal for a while, keeping my journal in my ******, and abbreviated.

Because I'm so thankful for such a supportive husband, esp in light of his helping me the past 10 days or so in getting ready for an upcoming event that I want to be my best for, I feel it warrants mention of his name in this journal. He's strict, and at times it's annoying, but it has paid off --- My new coach.

I do not know what I would do without him, his love, his devotion.

Fitting, with the onset of Valentine's Day, that I should return that love to him in gratitude.

I give thanks to God today for my husband and all that he means to me.

Thanks, IAL.

For the past three weeks I have evolved out of a funk -- t h a n k - t h e - L o r d!

I've been more focused in these last 3 wks than I've been in quite a while. Areas of my life that had been causing me stress and concern have eased, resolved themselves, or just gone away in one fashion or another.

I'm excited about taking charge of my health and my fitness again. The sun seems to shine brighter lately.

I'm so thankful for my health, my family, my husband, my friends, my God.

Just need to lift it up in praise.

I have recently been eating Weight Control Quaker Oatmeal (with 1/2 scoop PP) on my heavier workout days. All of last week, however, I did not eat it, I just ate my typical pre workout meal and typical post workout breakfast, which is more low-carb, higher fat-protein concentration of calories.

This morning (my heavy workout day) I ate the oatmeal, and ate half of what I usu eat for breakfast. I compared how I feel hungry-wise at 10:00 a.m. to how I felt the last two days I had heavy workout days, and I've eaten fewer calories and feel more satisfied having eaten the oatmeal than on the other days when I had eaten traditional LC/HF.
I have felt more balanced.

I think I need those extra carbs (duh) on my heavier workout days. Although I had reinducted somewhat at the first of the year, I had been slow to increase my carbs, and have not eaten more than 40 net carbs, for the most part, per day ever since -- with the exception of the 5-6 days I've eaten the oatmeal.

I will stick to low-to-mod carbs on normal workout days and continue eating the oatmeal on the heavier days, tapering my carbs throughout the day to only fibrous after 1:00 p.m.

So far, it seems to be the fuel I need.
