Calories were higher yesterday, but ratios were right. Caved to an emotional upset and had a huge bowl of icecream last night. CANNOT BELIEVE I DID THAT. Back to sanity today, clean eating, lots of water, and doubled exercise -- which will chase away the stress of it better than anything else I can think of. Turbo Jam is calling my name. |

I found sanity...!
Pre workout meal: 1/4 c steel-cut oats, 1/2 c fat-free cottage cheese, 1 T Protein Powder, 1 T flax, Davinci's, cinnamon Postworkout meal: Ditto above, with 2 oz apple spread with Nat PB Lunch: 3 oz chicken breast, 2 cups salad, 1 T light Miracle Whip, 1 slice lowfat pepperjack cheese melted on chicken ..... so yummy! Dinner: 3 oz chicken breast, 1 cup slaw made with vinegar, olive oil, sliced almonds, Splenda, chopped green onions....awesome recipe...! Snack: 1/2 c fat-free cottage cheese, 2 chopped strawberries, 2 oz Carb Master yogurt, Davinci's, 1 chopped walnut, decaf WORKOUTS TODAY: 45 mins of Turbo Jam 25 mins of elliptical 25 mins of upper body weights (Kathy Smith) Feeling in control and lean again. Whew! ![]()

Didn't stay on plan as well yesterday as I'd hoped I would.
It wasn't bad, just not "as planned." I'm paying stricter attention to ratios today (I'd gotten lazy/sloppy with that, and it was working against me ).....and ALREADY I feel better, balanced, controlled.Huge meaning to those words. It's the key to winning. To succeeding. Did I forget that already? Pay attention, Twyla. This is for life. My motto today is to focus on my goals, not on my failures and/or temptations of the past. I will review all that I've learned, and apply that knowledge to my quest in pushing forward. Reading my Fitday journal from May has helped me put things back into perspective. Feeling great today. Right on target today for ratios.
Today's Eats: Calories 1545 45%P (167 gr) 20%C (73 net gr) 36%F (59 gr) Ate a BUNCH of BLACKBERRIES today......YUMMMMMMMMMMMM! Tastes great mixed in with fat-free cottage cheese, flax and a bit of almond Davinci's. If I get hungry later, I'll have decaf Chai, 1/4 c blackberries and 2 oz Carb Master yogurt......IF. Feeling very balanced, clean and lean. |

Had a very long day at work....was trapped in an office all day on a job. Had packed some on-plan food, but didn't anticipate being there till 6:30 p.m., so I ended up eating 1 oz of hot peanuts later in the day to stave off tummy rumblings, which put my fat ratios up to 37% for the day. Trying to keep them at 35% or under. Not a problem typically, but my net carbs were a bit high too (BLACKBERRY MONSTER HAS STRUCK AGAIN)....107 net. I'm okay with it. Should even out over the course of the week.
Ratios today: 1724 calories (more calories for a cardio day) 38% P (160 gr) 25% C (107 net gr) 37% F (70 gr) EXERCISE TODAY: 10 mins of upper body weights 45 mins of Turbo Jam.....kicked butt -- all the moves are second nature now....LOVIN' IT! |

Thursday.
The weather is getting to me....my least favorite time of the year, mid to late summer. It's at this time I begin dreaming of autumn....without a doubt my FAVORITE season. Tired of dealing with the humidity, its effects on energy levels, and on my hair....gives me beach hair! I have just enough natural wave to aggravate me to start with, and the humidity intensifies the waves. The result: Beach hair. So I'll remain trapped in an air-conditioned environment for as long as this weather pattern holds....and dream of autumn! Calories yesterday were a bit high. I'm a bit uncertain as to what I should do about this. I exercise a lot, and one would think that because of that, I need a few extra calories for the energy and optimum metabolism. I'm too stubborn to get on the scales, so I can't say whether I'm losing or not. Some days I feel/look leaner, others I feel a wee bit bloated, but I think that has to do with the weather. Not sure. Yesterday's eats: 1861 calories 44% P (198 gr) 21% C (95 net gr) 34% F (68 gr) I need to remember that starting next Tues-Wed, 25-26th, to lower my carbs to no more than 50 net a day, and up my fat ratios....do this for about 5 days to offset the PRE-TOM craving attacks. It's worked before. Hopefully it will work again. This morning on the elliptical I burned 420 calories, and then I worked out with weights for 20 mins...not sure how many I would have burned there....but I'm curious as to what kind of deficit I'm looking at based on my caloric expenditure and BMR. I need to do more reading, but I'm too busy with work. It will have to wait. |

It just occurred to me, I've been too careless about eating simple carbs later in the day.
I need to remember to eat them BEFORE 3:00 pm I am sure this will make a difference. I did this when I began this new WOE, and it seemed it was working better then. Complex carbs, before noon. Don't forget, Twyla..... Make it happen.....![IMG] [/IMG] |

What a nice little boost! Drive by post, in a hurry, loads of work to do. Eats were good yesterday. Ended up upping fat towards the end of the day, as I was feeling very hungry, afraid it may set a binge in motion. Seems every time I eat tuna for lunch, with a green veggie, I get hungry in the afternoon. Gonna have to start adding whole fat mayo with it to keep the balance. Not enuf fat, and the hunger/cravings follow. Later...................! |

Saturday morning.
Didn't keep Fitday yesterday after I left from work....but I winged it and knew that I was on plan. Sometimes it just gets too time-consuming. We had grilled BBQ chicken, green beans and a salad for dinner. I used the Light BBQ sauce....sooo good. I think I had about 3-4 ounces of chicken. I also had 3 -- yes, THREE -- Bud Selects.... before dinner....chillin' time with DH on the back porch while the chicken was grilling. So refreshing. Good times. Worth it. Cardio and weights today, then I need to get some work finished before Monday, so I'll be working most of the weekend. I am feeling really great today, physically. Yesterday I carb tapered more than I had been lately, and I think I need to pay closer attention to that than I have been. Seems if I have too many simple/complex carbs at the wrong times of the day, it makes me hungrier/more cravings, than if I stick to small amounts of fibrous carbs for meals after 3:00 p.m. I think I was getting careless about that, and my calories kept climbing. Might begin to see a difference. No, not might. I'm pretty certain! Feeling way in control today! ![]() |

THURSDAY
WOW. This week has flown by.....never been so busy....what is UP with this? Well, at least I can proudly say that I'm in COMPLETE control of my eating and exercise....only days before TOM (Sunday), and I feel really lean and in control appetite/craving wise. I've restricted carbs all this week, eating only green veggies, and whatever carbs are in cottage cheese, yogurt and non-fat creamer, etc. No fruits or grains this week, all to keep cravings down and to trick up the metabolism. After TOM passes, I'll up them back to moderate levels again. I have been missing my protein bread and blackberries....but I know it's only for this week, and then I can have them again. I feel great. Life is good. ![]() |

SATURDAY
Did Turbo Jam this morning....kicked my butt good. Dripping, exhausted and plum worn out afterwards! Been nursing a headache ever since, darn heat! Last night was not as smooth sailing as I'd hoped. I overate, losing count of calories at a point, but it was "legal" food. So what? I still overate. Not condoning, but it could have been worse, I guess. These HORMONES! Why do I seem to struggle FAR more with this than most other people? Has me stumped. I bought a Lindt bar....(Allie, your post made me do it)....to use as my arsenal. I ate one square last night. One square midday today. Tasted good. Satisfying. No problems/cravings. Plan to get in another 20 mins of cardio this evening. Eats in control so far today. Salmon for dinner. [IMG] [/IMG] I hope that once July/August is over, I can regain control that I was experiencing in May and June. I can never seem to do as well with my eating patterns and fitness in July and August.....I get lazy, hot and ravenous. Autumn, where are you!!!! |

Monday.
Confession time. In looking back over the past 3-4 weeks, I've gotten progressively sloppier with my food-tracking diligence, and my fitness levels have suffered. My punishment. Self-inflicted. Yesterday was a great day, despite the oppressive heat. Tracked my food in my head, and as I laid down to sleep last night, I knew that "in my head" wasn't being accountable enough. For the success to be meaningful and lasting (as it was in May and June), I will need to pay more attention to details and analysis, rather than winging it.....I haven't earned the right to "wing it" yet. Who am I kidding? Introspection is a helpful tool. I know what needs to be done. And today began accordingly. Onward. |
