Scared Thin at Thirty
Well, I guess I should start a journal. Maybe it will keep me on track this time. I started Atkins on April 30, 2006. It's now May 05, 2006 and I have lost 8.5 pounds so far with no cheating.
I have tried sooo many times to lose weight, but it's always been more about wanting to LOOK good. This time it's more because I've been having alot of breathing problems and heart pounding problems that are so bad that they keep me awake for hours an night, and I'm scared! I'm 30 and I have kids... I don't want to die, yet! (Looking good will be nice, too, of course.) So far today I've eaten half a bowl of my LC chili. The whole bowl had about 9 carbs, but I couldn't hold it all. The appetite suppressions of Atkins has kicked in for me BIG TIME. I've also had about 20 oz. of water so far. I'm hooked on diet soda, so the water thing is difficult, but I'm trying. I also have only about $30 per week to spend on food, so I'm eating a ton of eggs (yuck) and canned mackerel (blech!) But I HAVE to do this. I can't just let myself die. Anyway, more later. ![]()

I had a little set-back today. Yesterday I was at 290.5. Today I woke up at 295. I guess I must be retaining water or something. My carbs yesterday were just fine, I drank more water than usual, my ketosis test strips still show very dark purple... but I still gained alot. Not quite sure what happened, but it's not a big deal. I'm still right on plan and today is my 7th day. It has officially been one week, and even with the set-back I'm still down by four pounds, so I'm still a big, fat loser. YAY!
Today is chicken, chicken and more chicken day. I'm out of pretty much everthing else and I can't shop much again until Wednesday (and it's only Saturday), so I'm going to be eating ALOT of chicken dishes. Today I think I am interested in trying a recipe I saw here on the boards. Chicken baked in foil with heavy cream. Sounds yummy! Also, my plan today is to drink extra water in an effort to help out with some of the gain that I had. I also plan to cut back to a strict 15 carbs today for damage control. I guess tomorrow I'll see how that works out. ![]() |
