It's About Time!

Happy Birthday to Me

I'm 34 years today and figure it's about time I get off my duff and do something about my extra weight. I'm tired of not feeling or looking my best and I'm done having babies (had my youngest in August of 2005) so now it's time to take of me.

Can't wait to see how it goes!

Oh, a little about me! My name is Jenn and I'm a SAHM to 4 kids ages 5.5, 4, 20 months, and 8 months) I live on the East Coast and have for much of my life. I love to cook (and eat!) I also enjoy doing a variety of textile crafts (sewing, knitting, crocheting, tating, ect), reading, playing POGO games, and playing the handbells.

Well, I've slipped up already! Was making lunch for the kids and a few Bugles found there way to my mouth. Not beating myself up though. It was totally subconscious. As soon as I realized what I was doing I made every effort not to do it anymore!

Was talking to DH and he's decided to jump on the bandwagon too! He needs to lose quite a few pounds. I'm hoping it will help him to be able to go off his bp meds. He wants to wait though and start next week after I've had time to shop and get rid of some of the things here at the house, but I'm ready to just jump on in and get to it!

Walked a mile this morning.

Going to stay OP today! Make a menu for the rest of the week and next week too and make a grocery list!

So far, so good! I made DH some chicken fried steak last night and took a portion of the steak and pan fried it in a bit of butter with seasonings. It was delish Also had a big salad and some lime fluff.

I do worry that I'm not eating enough though. It's not that I'm hungry. I mean, I am eating when I'm hungry (and that's been a lot!), but *shrug*. Take the above example. That's pretty much all I had yesterday. Oh, and I had a big piece of leftover roast for breakfast and a hb egg for a snack. That was it. We'll see what the scale says on Monday!

Hi Kathy! Thanks for the Welcome

Been doing pretty good today. I think what matters most is that I am so much more determined than I have ever been. I've had 4 children in 5.5 years. It seemed like every time I went and tried to lose the "baby fat" I was getting pregnant. Well now that DH has had the big "V" it's time for me to take of me! lol!

hey there pretty lady! i found you! if you haven't yet done so, TAKE PICTURES!! i started low-carbing the beginning of february and i'm down almost 30 pounds. the side-by-side comparison pictures are AWESOME motivation! ya just need to get that determination in your mind and then you're unstoppable.

i say that as i hog down a handful of popcorn

Yeah, I should take pictures. I just really don't like the way I look right now...really bad. I have some that my MIL took of me but they are "casual" shots. Maybe this weekend I'll take some frontals and side shots. Just so I can compare

i know, i know, before pictures suck. but really... you'll be so glad you did!! heck i'm just as embarassed of mine! but once the pounds start dropping you can look back and say yep, i was a fatty... but look at me now!!

Just stopping in to say Hello and I think you are in the right place. Keep up the good work and I also think you should take before pics. You won't be sorry. You don't even have to show them to anyone. You'll be glad you did when you lose and need something to compare because as you lose everyone else will see it but you won't because you see you everyday. Does that make sense?

Also take your measurements because when you hit a platau (?) you may be losing inches. Plus it's fun to add up all those inches your going to lose.

I know, I know. It's late and I haven't posted today. Thursday is my lax day. I don't do much in the way of housework at all and I don't make dinner! Pad (oldest DS) has preschool on Tues and Thursday so on Thursday's I get everyone ready, take him to school and then go hang out with MIL until it's time to take Rhonda (oldest DD) to school (Afternoon K). Then I pick up DS and it's back to MIL's until time to pick Rhonda up. Come home, get dinner ready (leftovers) and then off to bells!

Tonight was our first rehearsal in two weeks. I really missed it! We play in May, June, and July and we'll be off in August. I'm looking foward to July's perfomance...we're going to be playing "When the Saint's Go Marching In." A very fun piece that we've been practicing for two years.

Hopefully going to go do a grocery run tomorrow. Really need to as we're out of a bunch of stuff. Depends on what time DH gets home from work.

Well I'm off to bed!

Ugh! I was looking forward to weighing myself and now I'm not so sure I want to. I haven't cheated or binged or anything. It's just that I'm scared to! Isn't that silly? I mean either I've lost something or I haven't and I need to know, right? I know that I'll be upset though if I haven't lost anything. I guess that's the real reason I don't want to weigh. Scared that I won't have lost anything. I'm sure I'll bite the bullet and do it anyway when the time comes. Hoping to get a new scale this weekend too. I'm sure it will give a different weight than what I have now, but that's okay as long as the one I'm using now shows a loss!

I'm so proud of me! We went out to eat and I was soooo good! I didn't even have a roll even though they looked very tasty! I had some steak, some chicken, some broccoli and a big salad. Oh, and water! Think I'll have some frozen pudding plops in a little bit to round out my day. I really, really need to go to the store!

Thanks guys, for the support

VAL-np on the recipe! I love finding and sharing good recipes!

We went out to lunch today with some friends to a pizza place (5 kids were going-of course it was pizza! lol!) and I was pretty good. I ate the topping (cheese and spinach) off of three pieces of pizza (with an olive oil base) and had a salad. The salad bar wasn't so hot though so there wasn't anything good on the salad. Lettuce, some cucumber. That's about it! Breakfast was some deviled eggs and dinner will be a steak and a salad. And of course some frozen pudding plops for a snack later on.

It's funny. When I started out I was so hungry all the time. Now I've been feeling, I don't know, kind of munchy (if that makes sense). Not really hungry so I don't want to eat anything, but I'm wondering if I should eat a legal snack. I'm just not *that* hungry. Enough rambling!

I'm going to the store tomorrow. Three actually. Health food store, WW, and Costco. I may even sneak a trip to Trader Joe's in there! lol! We'll see how it goes. DH tends to get a bit grumpy if left with all four munchkins too long. After the kids go to bed tonight I'll probably work on my grocery lists. I think I'll weigh myself tomorrow too. I was going to wait until Monday, but I'd really like to see if anything is going on in there.

Ack! I knew I didn't want to weigh myself! I gained 2 pounds! What gives? Only thing I can figure is either a) not drinking enough water, b) at the beginning of the week I had a dab of peanut butter, or c) I'm not eating enough.

So, a new week is starting and I'll just have to modify some things and see what can be done. I need to a) the SF cool whip is gone so don't have to worry about the pb!, b) dig out my 54 oz mug and drink daily working up until I fill it twice a day or more, and c) schedule out my meals and know what I am going to eat before I eat it! We'll see if following this, next week shows a loss. I hope so!

I've been very good today, despite waking up late and having some personal issues. I've managed to stay on plan and *not* eat the very yummy chocolate chip cookies my mom bought the kids yesterday, nor the root beer float bars she bought, nor the dreamsicles (my favorite!) that she bought. I think TOM might be coming soon. I've been wanting some sweets (usually want them really bad around TOM, moreso than usual) and I've been very grumpy! lol!

I LOST A POUND! I'm sooooo excited!!!! First one since I started last week! Hopefully the first of many! lol! I also walked a mile yesterday and today (today's included toning work also) I'm thinking of walking another two miles later on today. I'm getting put my 54 oz mug today, filling it with water, and drinking it today. My water drinking was terrible yesterday! If I can (lots to do today), I want to boil some eggs, cook some bacon, sausage links, sausage patties, and chicken wings, and make some low carb snacks. Ambitious, huh? lol

Also, my Aunts and Grandmother will be here Saturday visiting my mom. She's making bbq chicken. I called her yesterday and asked if she would just cook mine plain. I may bring an alfredo sauce or something for it. I'm also bringing a salad for me (she'll have potato salad-yuck!) and I volunteered to bring dessert!

Don't forget you can pick-up some Masterpiece LC BBQ sauce (classic Blend) at the grocery store. It's sooooo Yummy! It's got 2 carbs for 2 TBLS.

BBQ is one of my weaknesses! Congrats on that pound! whoooohooooo! goal weight here you come!

Did great eating wise today. Think I may have a little snack her shortly as I'm a little munchie. Again today I had very little fat. I'm going to *gasp* weigh myself tomorrow morning too and see if there's any change! I know I need to up my water intake (none today)
