As 2006 draws to a close, I was looking back at what I accomplished this year. I'm not sure exactly what I weighed at the beginning of the year, but it was probably about 150. Today I'm at 140, so I'm 10 lbs closer to goal than I was last year
I went on a couple of great trips, met some new friends & went on a few dates (which I haven't done in a while). I learned how to play beer pong at age 34 I made more money this year than I ever have before. I took a job where I get to walk to work if I feel like it (a mile away). Overall, it was a good year. We'll see if 2007 is the year I actually hit my weight loss goal or not. Even if it isn't, I'm not unhappy with where I am right now.Happy New Year to anyone who is reading (pic comparison of me at my high weight about 4 yrs ago to last week - both taken in Vegas) ![]()

I'll be finishing 2006 in the 130's
Thanks to being really strict the past 3-4 days, I've dropped 5 lbs of water weight from my Vegas trip & will end the year officially at 139. I think tonight I might even drink light beer (which I don't care for all that much) to save calories & carbs. I have my outfit for tonight picked out already - some new jeans & a black silk sleeveless top with a lace inset in the front - it's a little sexy, a tiny bit slutty since I can't wear anything underneath My friends called me half a dozen times last night to meet up with them at a bar. But if I'd done that, I would have gained weight instead of losing. They'll still be here in coming weekends. It was really important to me to end the year with a weight I'm comfortable with, so I'm glad I didn't go. |

Almost back to siggy weight. 137.8 this morning. I'm going to do my abs DVD, then some laundry & then go kitty sit for my sisters cats. Not too hard - she's only a 15 min walk away & that's more exercise for me.
I'm in kind of a bummy mood - there's this guy I've been chatting with online & through text messages. Thought we were going to go out this past Monday, but he wasn't feeling well after NYE (got a message from him that evening saying he overindulged). So this past week he says - I owe you a date - do you have weekend plans? Thought he'd maybe commit to something, but haven't heard from him since Thursday. So many flakes out there - I think he's turning out to be one of them. I'm supposed to go out to NJ tonight to hang out with some of my guy friends who live there. They're always a lot of fun. So at least I'm not sitting home alone on a Sat night. I'm thinking maybe some egg salad for lunch & then leftover chicken from last night. I might have to look up some drink ideas online later. I'm getting really sick of vodka & club soda. |

I had such a good time going out with my friends last night. I
my friends & feel so lucky to have cool people in my life. Not only are we friends, but we're also co-workers. It makes all those hours we spend at work a little more fun. I wasn't good with the eating - had a slice of pizza & then some donuts. But I had a salad for dinner today & have no intentions of letting myself slide.As for the guy....the text messaging continues. No plans to meet up. I think he'll eventually fade away. It seems like if you don't meet someone you meet online within the first week or two, it just never happens. Eh - there are plenty of guys in NYC ![]() |

Yay - finally below 137 again! I weighed in at 136.6 this morning. I didn't have much to eat yesterday - really wasn't hungry (plus I didn't have anything good that was thawed
). Of course that was weighing in at 10am instead of my normal 6:30, but hopefully it will stick. I did a DVD workout yesterday & am all dressed to do my abs workout after I'm done here. I figured out that if I can lose 1 lb a week, I'll be at goal by the end of next month. That's not far away & I know I can do it if I put my mind to it!!!! As for the guy, I basically told him last night that the waffling had to end & he needed to tell me if he really wanted to meet in person or not. He says he does. Supposedly he's going to check his work schedule today & let me know if one night this week after work will be good for him. K - enough about that. Time to get to working out & eating breakfast ![]() |

I was going through my memory banks this morning trying to think of what worked and what didn't work last year when I got on my losing streak. What I came up with was that I was journaling and using Fitday. So after getting down below 135 in January, I've let myself slip some in the past couple of months. I have one good day & then get tempted or frustrated & have a piece of chocolate or some trail mix or popcorn. It put me back up into the 140's again, which I thought I was long done with.
So yesterday I started again. I ate well, exercised, drank a lot of water & it's paying off already. I'm down 2 lbs in 2 days & saw the 130's again on the scale today. OK, so it wasn't too much into the 130's @ 139.8, but I'll still take it. Hopefully some of the weight is water & TOM weight & it'll come off quickly. I'll be in Spain in 4 weeks & would love to be able to take the size 4 clothes that I bought recently. I picked up a few things a couple of weeks ago in a size 4 when the 6's fit perfectly, thinking I'd be losing the weight & didn't want to have to get anything altered. I want to wear my new clothes!!!!! I'm going to work out now, guzzle some water, take a shower & maybe get a mani/pedi later this afternoon if I get enough accomplished & feel like treating myself. I'm planning to make some extra food today to bring to work for lunch the next day or so. Part of my problem is that I've been sick of salads & a few other options at the cafeteria at work, so bringing in my lunch for a while seems like a good option for staying on plan as well as saving some $$ (to be used on the trip......or maybe for shoes ). |

I was down to 139.2 this morning. Almost back to siggy weight. I refuse to change it It's going to be a really busy week at work this week, so it'll be hard to get much exercise in. But I continue to walk the mile home every night, which is better than nothing. I made extra chicken stir-fry tonight & plan to take it into work tomorrow for lunch. Today I brought in a protein bar & low carb yogurt for breakfast. I usually get eggs in the cafeteria, but I've become sooo sick of them. I don't want to cave & get cereal or worse, a donut! Hopefully tomorrow will be another good number ![]() |

Ok I have a question for you. What the heck is 'beer pong'? My imagination is working overtime, but I'm pretty sure I like it! Also the photos are great! It's so nice to have a comparison. Thanks! I think I look younger, too. I have bikini pictures that I've been taking every 7 lbs since 150. It's really motivational to go back & look at those pictures because the differences, even if I don't see them every day, are really evident in those pictures.
Beer pong.....you have two teams of people (usually 2 on each team) on opposite ends of a long table. You rack up cups filled with beer on either end in a pyramid shape & take turns throwing ping pong balls at/in the cups at the other end. If you get the ball in a cup, someone on the other team has to drink that cup of beer. Can you tell I work with a bunch of guys?? They get really competitive over it - it's too funny.I was at 137.4 this morning Yay - back to about siggy weight that I never changed. Other than a really bad headache on Monday, it hasn't been too terrible. I've been good with keeping portions in decent sizes & haven't been too tempted by all the bad food choices out there. I've been exercising a decent amount, too. Well, at least more than I had been! Speaking of....I think I'm going to go for a walk before it gets too chilly. |

136.4 again. No problem. I'm giving the old bod a chance to catch up & turn the 5.6 I've already lost from water weight loss into fat loss
My tummy looks & feels a little flatter. Somehow when I get below 137 I can tell an immediate difference.Sandy, I'm not doing induction by the book. I keep my carbs higher than 20 because I get a rash if I do strict induction. I don't know if it's yeast die-off, too much protein, an allergic reaction to ketones, but something happens if I go too low that makes me have the worst rash. I'll wake up in the middle of the night clawing at myself because it itches so bad! So I'm eating an Atkins bar & a low carb yogurt most mornings for breakfast. Lunch is usually dinner leftovers from the night before. Dinner is some type of meat & veggies. I also throw in a handful of walnuts or sunflower seeds or cheese as a snack. I've had a bottle of Fuze in the morning to drink every day, but other than that, only water for over a week now. 3 weeks until vacation & 6 lbs to go. It still seems do-able. Especially since I'll have the entire week before I go on vacation off from work, so I'll be able to exercise every day & watch what I eat. Today I'm going to get a mani/pedi. I desperately need to feel pretty right now & that always helps. Might get my eyebrows threaded, too. I have to return some books to the library & then I think I'm going to go purse shopping. I need a new purse for the trip. I've been looking for a few weeks & haven't found anything perfect yet - has to be the right size (not too big, not too small), not too heavy, must zip instead of clasp because of all the pickpockets in Barcelona, etc. I would love to shop for new clothes, but I'm going to save that for my week off before the trip. I should be a few pounds lighter by then & possibly into 4's I can see some trees outside are starting to bud. I cannot say how happy I am that spring is finally here. The warmer & sunnier weather seems to give me more energy & puts me in a better all around mood. Not to mention that I have to think about all the little summer outfits I need to get into ![]() |

136 this morning. I had to work today
I brought breakfast - 5 slices of bacon & a low carb yogurt. But we ordered out for lunch. I had a burger (ate only the bottom of the bun), maybe 10 fries & a small salad. Not absolutely on plan, but sometimes if I have a few extra carbs one day, it results in losses a day or two later. I guess maybe my body realizes carbs aren't gone forever & decides it can let go of a little more I didn't find a purse. But I did find a new pair of sunglasses - yay!!! I scratched up my last good pair last summer just a day before I went to Italy/Switzerland. I bought a cheap pair over there, but they fell apart a couple of weeks after getting back. I'm so glad to have another pair again now that it's getting sunnier. The quest for a purse continues... |

135.6 I FEEL SKINNY TODAY!! I'm only 1 lb away from my low back in Jan when I broke the 135 barrier. Hopefully I'll be back there by the end of the week. Seeing the scale continue to move gives me that extra motivation not to get off plan & keep going until I finally hit goal this time. After all these years, shouting GOAL would be like a miracle.
Today I'm wearing a shirt I bought a couple of months ago, but have never worn out because it's tight around the waist. My tummy finally feels flat enough that I don't think I look bad in it. So not only do I feel skinny, but I also feel stylish in my new top. OK, time to head to work. I'm going to walk to work today & get some add'l exercise in ![]() |

135.4 today - not much movement. But I did have a bigger dinner last night than I've been normally eating. Plus I had a handful of peanuts & some sunflower seeds. And I had a soda (caffeine free diet pepsi) for the first time in over a week. I'd love to see 134.something on the scale by this weekend, so I'll try to guzzle some more water today & see if I can get there

Back to 136 today. I went out for lunch yesterday & had buffet-type food. I stuck with stuff that looked acceptable (a few meatballs, slice of tomato w/ mozzarella, chicken w/ broccoli) but some of the things may have had sugar/starch in the sauces. Plus I didn't end up guzzling water as planned - was way too busy at work to take as many bathroom breaks as that would have required
Today should be better, though. And I'll have a 3 day weekend coming up where I can actually work out since I'm getting home kind of late after work right now. I know I can break that 135 barrier again! |

Still 136 today. Honestly I'm surprised it isn't higher. I was so hungry yesterday & ate a lot. Nothing terrible, although I wanted chocolate desperately. Didn't give in, though. It'll be 2 weeks without chocolate tomorrow. I did have some nuts w/ raisins & a protein bar in the afternoon when my stomach was growling. It wasn't just cravings, it was real hunger. This morning I'm still hungry. But I'm trying to take my mind off it with work. And water. I figure if I drink a lot I can try to fill up on liquids. Back to work now.....

Do you have to eat out a lot for work? You did great, the sauces are tough to avoid at times! You are so close to you goal. I think weight loss slows down when you are smaller with just a few to lose. Don't give up.

Hey Sandy! No, I don't have to eat out a lot for work. But I do work with almost all men & they aren't too big on bringing lunch in
I do some days, but the rest we go to the cafeteria or out to get food.I'm definitely not small boned. Medium, I'd say. My problem is that I don't have much muscle - I'm pretty "soft" for lack of a better word If I was more muscular I'd probably be fine with my current weight.So I was 136.6 when I got up this morning And then I ate two cookies for breakfast But it was a temporary lapse I had eggs for lunch & a bunch of water. I just weighed & am at 136 now in the middle of the day. That's before exercising, too, which I'm going to do now.My dad sent me an Easter package that I got last night & opened this morning (couldn't wait....). He sent me peeps!!! And sugar-free drink mix (like Crystal Lite, but a no name brand). How funny is that to send something loaded with sugar & then sugar-free drink in the same package?? He doesn't get what the whole low carb thing is about I'm going to work out this afternoon, clean my place up, maybe do some laundry. Tomorrow afternoon I'm getting my hair cut & then going out drinking with some friends. Hopefully I'll look all cute from my haircut for going out |

I did my workout DVD yesterday. Will try to get an abs workout in today. Have to get laundry done, finish cleaning up my place, get my haircut & then get all prettied up for going out tonight I thought I knew what I was going to wear, but it's going to have to be put on hold for a warmer day. It's only in the 30's again & we might possibly get snow. I guess it's back to wearing boots for a couple more weeks.I ordered a really cute dress last night & put a bid on another on eBay. I'm ready for spring/summer - it's right around the corner ![]() |
