Vitamins??

Been on Atkins for 1 week. Everything is going good, down 6 lbs which I'm sure is water weight.

Anyways just wondering if vitamins are necessary and if so which ones? I am a male 45 years old.

I'm also a 45 year old male. I take a multivitamin, a magnesium supplement, and a potassium supplement daily. About two weeks in to Atkins, I started getting leg cramps in the middle of the night (they were HORRIBLE - the worst I'd ever had) and started taking the magnesium and potassium to see if it would help. Sure enough, the cramps went away and I've not had any problems since.

I don't know if the multivitamin is strictly "needed" but I figure one can't hurt.

Edited to add - Congrats on your loss! Keep up the good work!

I take 2 cups of NV Calm (Magnesium Citrate) twice a day, and 2 calcium capsules in addition to 2 vitamin c capsules per day.
I also take a glass of ecodrink (multivitamin) daily which takes care of my cramps.

Congrats on your progress.

I take magnesium, salmon oil, D3 with K2 and probiotics daily. B12 a couple of times a week.

A good multi vitamin is a good choice. The theory is that over weight people are actually undernourished due to absorption problems created through years of poor food choices.

This is cool! I hadn't heard of this before - I am going to check it out next time I'm at Costco. Seems like it would tackle both the multivitamin and magnesium/potassium needs in one shot!

Liquid magnesium and cod liver oil with breakfast. Then with dinner I take CoQ10, DHEA & phytoceramides.
