Anyone ever try Biotin?

I just started 5000 mcg Biotin daily for thinning hair. I've read many online reviews and most of them were positive, so I figured it was worth a try (especially since Biotin is not expensive). Has anyone ever used this supplement; if so, can you share why and if it helped? Thank you!

I`ve been taking 10,000 mcg of biotin per day for quite awhile and I see no difference, still waiting.

I supplement with biotin, 5000 mg and on separate days when I need extra energy, with B complex. When I first started taking the Biotin (and I didn't take it every day because I would forget to take it) I noticed new hair growth--I saw a lot of little hairs sticking up at the crown of my head that weren't there before and I noticed that my hair felt thicker and healthier. I probably took it 3-4 days a week for a month and then less so because I was taking the B complex. I didn't notice the change in my hair until at least a couple of months afterward. So for me, it did/does work and thank goodness it does, because I was afraid that I was going to be bald soon with all of the hair I was losing! I can once again enjoy my hair.

I surmise that it worked for me because that is the nutrient that I was lacking in personally, for hair growth. BTW, I got my supplements at Sprouts, a grocery store chain in CA and AZ. They frequently have sales on supplements.

I've been taking it for over 6 months with no improvement in hair or nails. Since I take a B complex anyway, I'm not going to bother anymore once I finish the bottle.

So, it's been about 2-1/2 weeks of taking 5000 mcg of Biotin and while I have not seen new hair growth (too soon anyway), I have noticed that there is less hair in the drain hair catcher after shampooing. Now, I'm not sure if that's due to the Biotin or if it's my hair life cycle, but its a pretty good coincidence.

My hair thinned last year after I lost 45 lbs on the Canadian Dr. Bernstein WL plan (different than the US diabetic specialist.)

Biotin worked wonders head to toe. My skin, nails, hair, lashes, EVERYTHING became healthier after only 2 weeks of taking 3000uic of Biotin. I take 1 in the AM and 2 at bedtime. Its $9/month for a jar of 100.

Love it!
