Does L-Carnitine really help with the cravings?
Going to buy some today but before I make the purchase I want to see if anyone else has taken this supplement to help with the carb cravings and it actually worked? Also how much should I take if it does in fact help?

I have taken L-Carnitine in the past to help with sugar cravings, but did not notice any difference. I was taking 2 a day before lunch. Maybe I wasn't taking enough, but again, it didn't help me much.

L-Glutamine is what I used. It worked very well for me.

I've never taken cartanine, but had great results taking L-Glutamine.

It was years ago so I don't remember the dosage. I will dig up the thread I learned about it from for you in just a sec.

i too did not notice any difference taking l carnitine, not sure about l glutamine though. Those with experience, just how much did your cravings reduce by?

L-glutamine works great. You start with 1,000mg 3x a day, between meals (it's an amino acid so it "fights" with protein in food for absorption). If you forget to take it between meal, it's better to take it with a meal than not at all. You should take it regularly.

If you need an "emergency" dose, you can put 500mg under your tongue.

And I recommend the book The Diet Cure, it goes into depth about this, as well as lots of other things.

Julia Ross (the author) says you should always take a good multi vitamin when taking any aminos.

It works amazingly!!! Seriously. I find that when I am feeling really moody/craving I take it and my mood stabilizes and I realize food isn't that important. :)

Chromium seems to work for me as appetite suppresant. I don't take it very often, though.
Haven't figured out L-glutumine yet, but I've been meaning to research it. (actually I think I have purchased some and forgetten it)
There's a product called omega blood sugar that bends chromium with alpha-lipoic acid. What does the latter do? I think the combo is to regulate blood sugar. I used a bottle's worth. But it's expensive and I am not sure I am going to restock.
