Flaxseed Oil, Fish Oil, or BOTH???
What do you all think? I'm getting ready to order more Omega 3's and would like you all's opinion.
Thanks in advance. Meek |

Flax oil is not the optimum oil to get your omega 3s. Only 30% of the population can convert the ALA into the needed EPAs and DHAs for the body to use-lots of articles on the science behind this to research for more info. Try a good quality red krill oil capsule or cod liver oil.

The red krill is concentrated so that should be enough. |

I would do a little more research, the amount of Krill Oil you would need is more than Fish Oil, which is going to cost you more. The research is plenty when it comes to the benefits of fish oil, however, no research has been done yet on Krill that hasn't been financed by those with financial interest in selling Krill. I know that some experts recommend it, and it's not that I don't, however, I don't think it's necessarily better than fish oil.

I'm in love with my krill oil.
I had a bit of a problem taking fish oil and had the dreaded fish oil burbs as well as stomach upset and joint pain associated with them. I was taking a top brand and kept it refrigerated. Probably some sensitivity within myself because family members don't have a problem with fish oil. |

I have come to the conclusion that cod liver oil is the best. Here is a link to some great info on it...
The Benefits of Liver and Cod Liver Oil — Cholesterol and Much, Much More I keep my cod liver oil in the fridge and have no worries over it becoming rancid. I do believe that all oils from fish should be kept in the fridge once opened. |

Good to know.
What do you all consider a good quality CLO? I just ordered/received Carlsons liquid. (lemon, if that matters.) |

I still havn't tried it. ........ sorry
So far, from other places on the net, I see most people take it w/apple juice? I really don't know if I want to do that. I'm already taking 2 teas of coconut oil in my coffee, and that is bad medicine to me!! ha Quote:

I am genetically a very poor converter of ALA to DHA, so I don't take krill oil, because it doesn't have that much DHA in it, relatively speaking -- the ratio is lower than in different fish oils. I take cod liver oil and I take a lot of it, because I'm almost incapable of converting ALA to DHA. Given that over 50% of our neurological system by weight is actually made of DHA, per se, I really need DHA, a fact attested to by my own medical history and my son's. I had seizures at birth from a myelin deficiency (myelin sheathing of nerves is made from DHA) and my son had/has severe neurological issues as well, which have been remediated with high doses of DHA.
I take Nordic Naturals because the Norwegian standards are 10,000 times stricter than the US ones for identification of mercury and toxic compounds. Carlson's and Nordic Naturals are both good brands for fish oil in the US. Cod liver oil is the most cost effective way of getting DHA.

My favorite fish oil is the Carlson's Orange flavored gels, OMG I tried so many brands, so many problems I have with burping of fish oil, Interesting you bring this up it does get confusing, then I take CLA/GLA too, I was debating about the flax oil, but for the price decided I would just continue to add a bit of flax to my protein shakes mainly for the fiber. I read lots of good things about cod liver oil and krill, I keep trying to reduce my supplements but it seems like I just keep taking more and more, LOL
