Anyone Take Probiotics AND Magnesium Supplements? Help!
I've taken Magnesium supplements for several months, along with my other regimen, mainly to keep things moving along
I've been taking up to 1500 mg a day in split doses with a rare occasion of taking it all at once when I really needed to speed things up a bit.Today I got a good deal on natural Acidophilus Probiotic Complex 300 mg and would like to start taking it but I'm wondering about the effect of the Magnesium on the probiotics? The Probiotics are to be taken once a day. I am wondering if I should take that first in the AM and then wait a good long time to take my magnesium? Anyone else have these two items in particular in their daily supplement plan? I don't want to cancel out the Pro with the effect of the Magnesium pulling water to the colon.... Make sense? This latest bottle of Magnesium is capsules and not the white chalky horse pills. I don't know if that makes a difference or not? Anyone?

Thank you so much for answering! Do you space them apart at all? And do you take the probiotics with meals? I've read conflicting ideas and the bottle doesn't say more than to take one a day.

I have never read of probiotics and magnesium having any effect on each other- I would just take them whenever- either separately or together.
There are conflicting reports of when to take probiotics though- before meals so they can work better on an empty stomach or after meals because stomach acid will be lower. I tend to follow the product directions because different brands have different types of capsules- I go between brands so sometimes I take on an empty stomach and sometimes with meals. I usually take magnesium before bed because it makes me sleepy (malate). |
