They're beads! I had some extra containers lying around (baby jar size) and a TON of beads from craft projects, so i picked out some pretty ones and did this I have some bigger crystals in there too for when i hit milestone numbers

Well, it's been 3 days, and I know that it takes longer to see results, but my curiosity is overwhelming. I am UP almost 3lbs since then! It's the only thing i've done different, so I'm wondering if this means i'm starting to get lean muscle mass? I took measurements, but there's no change as of yet. I wish i had a body fat measurement tool, i have one on my scale, but i'm "out of range" for it to even register, go figure. CLA/GLA is certainly doing SOMETHING....i'll keep it up for a few weeks, and we'll see

Amy I don't want to be a downer, but there's no way you gained 3lbs of muscle in 3 days. It takes weeks and weeks of working out to develop that kind of muscle increase.
My experience with cla was not good, I also gained on it and (I assume) it was water retention because it came back off as soon as I stopped taking it.
Here's a quote from eHow:
Quote:
How Fast?

In a study completed by Dr. Michael Colgan of the Colgan Institute of Nutritional Sciences, the most muscle gain that has been recorded over the course of one year was 18 1/4 lbs. Dr. Colgan states that "because of the limiting rate of turnover in the muscle cells, it is impossible to grow more than an ounce of new muscle each day." Even if you could grow an ounce each day, this would equal 23 lbs. in one calendar year. The turnover rate that Dr. Colgan is referring to is the protein turnover rate, which is how long it takes muscles to fully utilize their stored protein. The protein turnover rate in human muscles takes about 180 days. This is one of the factors in the body that limits how much natural muscle can be put on at any given time.

water makes it all confusing lol

I have had very good results with the cla/gla combo in conjunction with watching my cal/fat intake. I see it strictly in inches lost rather quickly in the waist/belly area not so much in scale weight. I will say though that it seems to work best when I cycle on and off of it as it stops working after a few weeks. Also, I often use the Hollywood Safflower oil instead of the CLA capsules.

Going to be starting back on this combo, I have been off low carb for a few months and need to buy some more CLA/GLA. It does work, I've used it on and off for years! This'll help kick my butt into gear and look to see what I have and what I need to buy

One day down so far. I really wish they still had the liquid CLA, it was so much easier. I have sometimes taken straight safflower oil, but I don't think there is as concentrated an amount of CLA.

According to their website, it will take a minimum of 3 months before you begin to see any results, with the best results occurring in the 4th month...
Quote:
They lost an average of 6.3 % and up to 9.4% belly fat during the 16-week period. The results started to occur after week 12 and most of the reduction of belly fat was noted after the 16-week mark. The study also showed that it took four weeks before the linoleic acid levels began to rise in participants’ blood.
The bottle contains 30 -1T doses, you are supposed to take 2T per day. so each bottle is only a 2 week supply.... you'd be expected to purchase at least 6 bottles ( at $30 a piece) before you could even expect to see any results...

So, $180 to maybe see 6% reduction in belly fat after 3 months....

kinda expensive in my opinion.

I agree very expensive, but I have heard the same thing about the cla taking several weeks to work while in my my experience the combo works almost immediately, but then stops working after a few weeks. Total opposite of what I have read. I bought some of the saflsim and like that it is a liquid. I got a good price on it since I had a coupon. Right now I am using a small amount of it about 1tsp. a day along with the cla capsules I have. My diet has been pretty bad so I can't comment on effectiveness but am back on track now and will report how it goes.

Yeah, that is true, The combo you could at least get some results sooner than later before, but several weeks seems a lot better than several months...

I hope that taking only 1/6th of the recommended dose has some effect. I've always been afraid of the idea that taking less than the recommended dose would not cause any effect and therefore all the doses are not efficient at all. I've seen that idea for lots of things and wonder how true it is. But then again you are taking it as part of combo, so you may have a bonus right there....

Okay waist down 1" since the 4th. Ate lots of carbs on the 4th(first day of cla/gla/safslim), had moderate carbs for four days and meat/egg only the last two days.

Cmachk, the borage oil contains GLA, so it's not something you buy separately from GLA

Metqa! Good seeing you are still around! I am glad the thread came back to life. Last time I looked, it was quiet. I got away from GLA/CLA, as my body no longer responded well. I am now living on Eat to Live. I do still take borage oil and DHA-EPA.

Seen any of the "old" crowd around?

Like ADLMA, I found that the cla/gla combo helped me to lose inches around the abdomen for a few weeks, but then it seemed to stop working.

I have seen a number of folks say that at first, the combo worked well for them, then it slowed or stopped.

The Skinnygirl Weight Management and Energy works pretty good. I found them at my Walmart on clearance for $9.00....just wish I can find some more. It has CLA, flax, grapefruit and B12 in them.
