liquid CLA vs. Pill

Theoretically, if you take the recommended dose (3400mg), there should be no difference between liquid or pill. However, I noticed results when I started taking the liquid after taking the pills for about 4 weeks. I'm not sure I can attribute that to the liquid working better than the pills as it could be I was finally getting used to it. In general, results vary whether you use liquid or pills. I think the concensus here is to take whichever form you prefer. Some people cannot bear taking any more horse pills...

Make sure if you take the pills that you calculate the amount of pure CLA correctly (e.g., if one serving is 1 pill supposedly has 1000mg of CLA but on the label, it says 80% "pure" CLA, then you probably need 4 pills a day - 800mgx4=3600mg).

I am starting on CLA tomorrow. I bought a 180 capsule bottle of the Total Lean CLA. Supposedly it has 1000MG of CLA in each capsule - my friend (who is a personal trainer) says I should be taking between 4 and 6 a day.

Does this all sound right to you guys?

Lost 2 incredibly stubborn pounds in the last 2 days, the only change has been that I've been on CLA/GLA for about a week now. Furthermore, even though it's only been 2 pounds, I can see a difference in my arms and stomach. A small difference, but I really do see it!

It sounds like a TON of pills to take, but it's not that bad. Maybe because I'm already used to taking Zyrtec + fish oil + several vitamins every day. I take 3 GLA pills in the morning with those other pills, then 5 CLA at night with dinner. I just ordered whatever was the cheapest per gram of CLA or GLA off of Amazon. I think it was Olympian Labs CLA and Source Naturals Mega-GLA.

I found the liquid one today. I went off of the CLA for a long time, just started back up this week and after one week of adding it to my existing diet/exercise program I have lost 5 inches off my midsection!! I take the GLa portion during the day with my regular multivitamins, then do the CLA 1/2 tsp, added 1/2 TBS raw apple cidar vinegar and a splash of h2o in a shot glass and just throw it down. I don't know why I ever stop taking this, it always works great for me. Good luck to you!

I, too, would like to know the brand name and source of your liquid CLA.

Trish, that CLOmega sounds pretty good. Does it cause repeating? I hate fishy burps!

Thanks for starting this thread!! I just started taking CLA without the GLA and the scale has already been dropping!!
SO what I am reading is three weeks on, two off. Does that mean that when you stop taking it you will start to gain again???
Love this product soo much thanks guys!!

Congrats!!! Where did you get the combo from??? I can only find CLA. NO GLA around here???

I just started using the combo again recently, and I really feel it does work. Netrition sells the GLA (borage oil). Join me in the challenges forum if you are interested. I started a thread there regarding the cla/gla , but got no responses.

Metqa, no it does not. I lost 11 pounds in 2 weeks when I started taking it. Unfortunately, I had to stop taking it for awhile. I am on steroids for a neck injury and it would be a waste to take it along with that. Once I am done with all these meds, I will start taking it again, and hopefully lose all the weight I will regain on the steroids

well, that sound great. Sorry about the steroids, that stuff can really mess with your weight and other stuff. But it does work on that swelling.
Take it easy and heal up good! I wish I had been more attentive when I was on steroids, I might have been able to avoid most of the gain if I had realized it would cause so much gain.

I'll look into that CLOmega.

I just got my GLA/CLA from netrition. As I am inching towards my goal weight the weight isn't falling off like it did, some of it my own fault. I do go to the gym 5-6 days per week without fail, and stick to under 20 carbs a day. After a few off course mishaps I determined I need to get my focus back, I am trying to make up my pill schedule, basically I am taking 3 of each per day, combined with all my other pills I dont think I can stomach any more, and I have to say they make me feel sort of yucky after taking them, like I can taste the oil. I am a big fan of Carlson's orange flavored fish oil, the only one that doesn't repeat on me. I am so confused can I or can't I take the pills with the fish oil?

jwabbit- I was always taking my pills at night and too many 17 supplements, yak!!! I got a separate pill container to keep on my desk to take in the morning after my shake and at lunch when I eat. I had a bilateral brachioplasty on my arms to remove the excess skin prior to my wedding in Oct, so my one arm recently got infected and I am back on antibiotics, I am not sure if I can blame the supplements or AB on my yucky stomach after taking them? Anyway just trying to get a handle on the proper dosage, it is all so confusing!

Thanks for any advice!

Amber

the company went out of business. there is still one place in canada that still seems to have stock, but you have to search for it. I can't say what the site it, and also, I don't know if they actually have it, but the page still exists so it might be worth it to you to search and order to see if you can get it.

My understanding is that the cla capsules are essentially filled with safflower oil.

Oh. that might be an interesting experiment, but you'd have to get some good pressed stuff that hastn' been sitting in a clear bottle for long right? sunlight and oxidation and all that jazz. It's been years since I've looked at any other oils than olive and coconut.

thanks for the clarification

My brand is high quality and expellar pressed. It is what I have used for the most part and I am losing inches and belly fat rather quickly.
