Those veggie burgers were pretty good. I've lost 5 lbs this week just by eating cleaner. I'll probably gain it back though, a bag of sweet tarts fell in my shopping cart yesterday . I've been drinking mostly lemon water instead of soft drinks and I switched from splenda packets to OnlySweet stevia packets. I've been eating whole grain bread, and natural peanut butter with flax and omegas, and just got some almond butter from TraderJoes. I got some sugar free allfruit too. Hopefully this will work better for me. I find I am not as bored with the food this way as I was strictly LC

chic, I think I'll try the portabello burger. I love mushrooms anyway and portabellos are my fav

how I take it- I mix my 1/2 T in with 1 T raw unfiltered apple cider vinegar and a splash of water, then down it like a shot. It goes down easier without coating your lips and mouth, plus the cider vinegar does many awesome things for you. I take it about an hour after dinner to help curb evening cravings and deal with any extra carbs I may have eaten at dinner. (The vinegar has been shown to act as a sort of carb blocker, you can google it for a better explanation)

Is it necessary to be Low carbing it while doing the combo to lose weight? I weight about 170. I have the liquid CLA and the borage pills. What excercise does everyone do w/ their combo? just cardio? How many days a week. Gotta get my butt into shap for the Bahamas in June...

I got my first order from the supplier in canada, and it shipped pretty quick. Cost a bit more than netrition, but that was before Netrition started selling it. Just do a google search on PVL Liquid CLA-3. I am so glad I ordered 3 bottles when I did from Netrition . I hope they get more in soon.

You do not have to stick to LC to try this combo. Any clean eating plan will work . Any type of exercise added will enhance the effects

Heard on the news that eating splenda is like eating pesticides !! I have to say, I no longer get headaches since I switched to stevia packets

Trish I am glad you discovered that Splenda is Not an option for you. I'm more concerned that you feel better not using it than what some new article using has to say. I guess I'm a skeptic of Health News.
I don't listen to most news Health stories anymore because they push sensationalism.

While many people are indeed sensitive to splenda, and should not use it , just like many other foods, chemicals or spices that cause reactions, saying eating splenda is like eating pesticide is like saying that eating lettuce is like eating pesticide since lettuce also naturally contains chlorinated molecules, which are what they are saying is in common with pesticides. A few other things that are actually pesticides are baby shampoo, canola oil, cayenne pepper, garlic, beer and yeast, corn grits. Milk is a fungicide. So is baking soda. Mint tea, Basil leaves and cinnamon are pest repellents.

My FIL doesn't drink milk, not because it's a fungicide that controls powdery mildew on roses and cucumbers, but because he's lactose intolerant and his body feels better when he doesn't drink it. But I can bet if I did a Health news article on how Milk is a fungicide, I could make a lot of people stop drinking it for at least a week, depending on how I spin it, especially if I did not want people drinking milk.
Quote:
Milk promotes mucous production, bloating, is high in cholesterol and is a fungicide as well. Do you want your children drinking fungicide with their cereal?

Yesterday I saw an article claiming french fries are bad because of the corn oilis the unhealthiest oil. that in itself is not surprising but the reason they said corn oil was bad wasn't because of the inflammation reaction it tends to promote, but that because it contains "copious amounts of saturated fat" . . . Hmm, of the 14 most common vegetable oils we use, corn oil is the 4th lowest in saturated fat coming in under canola, safflower, and sunflower, . . . AND equal to OLIVE OIL in saturated fat. You won't hear anyone claiming Olive oil has copious amounts of saturated fat. Sensationalism using Sat fat as a scare word.

They also claim it is high in Polyunsats, which might increase cholesterol. Well, it is the same percentage of PU's as Soybean oil, which is considered the God of vegetable oil.
Quote:
Danya Proud, a spokeswoman for McDonald's USA stated that, in May 2008, the corporation "completed the transition to a new canola-blend cooking oil in our 14,000 U.S. restaurants. This blend of canola, corn and soybean oil allows us to serve fried menu items with reduced levels of trans fat and saturated fat, while delivering the same great taste our customers expect from McDonald's."
Corn oil Sat fat = 14%, Soybean oil sat fat = 14%

Not arguing the merits of oils, but just that the health news articles have to present their "facts' in slants that make people talk and spread the "information". in context though, it's a lot more of the 'everybody knows' syndrome.

The fact that they don't publish the author of the articles also makes them suspect. Who is responsible for misinformation in these articles?

What I came to ask, though, is if one were counting calories, would you count the calories in CLA seeing as it is an oil, or would you not count the calories because it is an EFA not to be used for fuel but for other body functions?

ETA:I know it doesn't have much in the way of calories, but if every calorie were important, how would you classify it.

I wish I new more about the digestion of it. Better keep looking! I heard something like that with coconut oil, that because the lauric acid is used by the body it will snatch it away and use it before letting it become fuel. that's why the recommendation is 3-4 Tablespoons cause that's how much your body will optimally use. So I wondered if it were the same for the CLA.

My bottle expires in May, and I need to use it up before then but I'll be starting a round of HCG soon, and it's very restrictive of oils, but I may take my chances and use it anyway. It will be an interesting experiment and if it interferes, I can always skip it and take it after the expiration date as soon as I can.

Have a Happy Saturday, I'm reorganizing my pantry, very boring. Anyone want some Lite Fruit Cocktail?

60 day photos of progress using cla/gla combo

Hi to everyone here... Well I haven't posted a lot in the past month... But I've been continuing to do low carb and gla/cla combo. I actually took 3 weeks off this month and started up again last week.

The results were very interesting to me. I lost zero weight... but can see changes in my body... I'm feeling my rib cage in parts... and feel muscles in my stomach... but they still look like they each have a twinkie sitting ontop of them! lol.... needless to say Im thrilled with my progress and have learned that the scale isn't the best indicator of weight loss (as so many of you have said in the past)

SO I'm going to continue on... I've started to increase the resistance on my eliptical machine.... but for 0nly 20 minutes a day vs 40... and have now started to lift weights.... the other 20 a day 5 days a week.... and Im loving it...

Think the weights make a huge difference too! Nice that people are noticing the change too! I've posted new pictures if anyone wants to see what 60 days of LC gla/cla can do... take a look.

Hope you all have a nice weekend. Shannon

hey all.. congrats babycricket. i myself have been on and off atkins. cant seem to get in groove but im working on it. ive been doing pretty good with the combo but here and there ill forget to either take it in morning or at night. my weight is up and down. i lose then i gain it back. but i am consistantly losing inches. this week i lost 2 around the 3 points in mid section. that is a total of i think 9 1/2 inches in the last month. no big changes but cant wait to fit in new size of pants. ill talk to u all soon.

hello everyone. my bf has been researching and reading old posts about the gla/cla combo and got me the pills. i finally decided to clean up my eating habits and hit my goal by this summer. i have been on and off LC since May of last year. my weight loss started out good, but because i kept slipping, the weight has become stubborn. i am hoping this combo will help me get rid of some inches and perhaps some pounds too!

i am actually doing Dr. Eades 6 week cure as well and only 3 days left of the first phase. and i took my first combo today... 5 tonalin and 1 borage oil with 3 primrose (trying to finish up the primrose that I have). Hoping for the best with combo plus my current diet. i also plan to start working out today.. lifting some weights. i will try to post progress soon.

how is everyone doing on this diet? and how long have you all been doing this combo?

oh btw, i was wondering.. what happens when you stop taking the combo? i only plan to take this combo for a couple of months to help me reach my goal but don't see this as a long term routine. is that okay? will the fat get back on?

i am worried but hopeful!

hey sweetpoison. its not that it died off its just everyone gets cought up in life and some seem to not find time. but they usually always come back for a spurt and then drop off again. i am still on and sometimes off of the combo. but in the last just about 2 months i have lost a little over 10 inches. i cant really say for sure if it is just the combo or if me being on and off atkins induction has helped in it too. but really even when i am gaining i seem to lose some inches. and now over the last week i havnt really taken it at all and havnt lost any. so i would say im a beleaver and that it does work. you just need to try it yourself and see if it works for you. good luck and come back ofter. cause those of us that check in every once in awhile get lonely. so good luck and let us know your success.
to all the other newbies. all.

Hi there... I'm still doing cla / gla combo. I have had a hard time finding cla around here. I have to say this combo works for me. The results in two months have been amaxzing as far as Im concerned. I've lost 50# and dropped 2 sizes.

I did the combo for a few weeks and then took a break for a few weeks. Weight wise I stalled out (but the inches were still disappearing) I just added coconut oil to my coffee in the morning and am pleased to say I have lost a few pounds... LOVE losing that belly fat! I have a before photo and a two month photo on my profile if you want to see results....

I'm in Iowa. LOL We are working 4 day weeks. Kind of rough on the paycheck but I sure enjoy the 3 day weekends! I kind of hope that this holds out through turkey season. That would be pretty sweet! Stupid ugly stinkin' birds. They sure taste good though!

Ha, You caught me during one of my Beck moments.

Phil, did you get snow recently? Someone else from Iowa said they got a lot of accumulation. For Pete's sake it's almost April!

Wild turkeys are kinda scary looking but cute in their own colorful feral sorta scary way. Tame turkeys look like Giant ugly white Chickens!

Hi Everyone!
I was wondering if anyone knew why netrition does not carry the PVL Liquid CLA and if you know if they will every carry it again and when?

I am bummed that they are out of stock.

Thanks!
