Hi guys.... quick question - I ran out of my GLA - does the CLA benefit me if I take it alone or should I wait until I have the GLA to take with it? Thanks for your replies - Im at a loss of what to do here. Shannon

Shannon, I have never tried it alone, mainly because when I first came across this thread in 2005, they were saying the CLA alone didn't do alot. It works best with the GLA. They work as a team

is there a monthly thread i should be on? I was thinking of trying the GLA/CLA along w/ an excercise plan. I have this stubborn baby weight i can't get rid of. I lost most of it and then had to go on steroids for some sinus infection, then back comes that weight...BLAH

I use only CLA. I take them one at a time with the first when I rise at 7:00. The last is with my lunch at noon. This makes it easy on the stomach and lets its power spead on out. It works great for me alone for me. I think you will be fine until you can replenish.

Understand, thats when my weight gain started too. steroids for a neck injury. we used to have a monthly thread, but since it slowed down so much, we just do seasonal threads, so this is the right place

welcome to the thread

WOE: GLA/CLA Combo and Eliminate Refined Carbs
Start Date: January 2010
Hello I just joined this thread and also just started taking GLA/CLA combo a week ago and was wondering what type of results everyone has had with this combo? Does it only work with low carb or is avoiding refined carbs and following a sensible diet enough?

I,m not new to low carb but I am new to cla/gla. i just got mines in the mail today. I ordered from Netrition. I got Horizon Tonalin-CLA 1000 and Now Borage Oil. I wil start taking them tomorrow. I exercise for an hour mon-wed-fri and i am on a fairly low carb diet. I hope i am doing enough for the combo to work. I've lost 5.4lbs since i started on January 11th. Hopefully the combo will help pick up the pace a little bit. Anyone think i should increase my exercising? , wish me luck and i will keep you guys posted on my progress.

Hi Roechen I believe gla/cla have benefits even if you are not doing LC - this is based only on the fact that my brother in law was recommending we take tonlin (cla) over 12 years ago. (He went to UW Madison and worked with the professor who discovered the benefits of cla) - It worked on cows in the study - and they dont have a LC diet... so hope that helps... or is at least interesting...

Sheri101 - Regarding your question about exercising and cla / gla... I've only been on this for three weeks... but I can tell you that I take this combo in the morning... and then about 9am do 40 minutes on the eliptical machine.... and I swear that my endurance is enhanced by this combo... Im amazed! I'm really digging the exercise - but think it might slow down weight loss on the scale....

You really will FEEL this stuff working.... Your body will ache and it seems to me that those are the places that actually appear different the next day!! Exciting to say the least!

I just finished my first bottle of liquid cla - found it tolerable

Looking forward to posting some 30 day pictures.... THIS COMBO IS GREAT! I ALMOST DONT WANT TO SHARE THIS SECRET WITH OTHERS!!! (Is that horrible of me?)

I'm staying LC / exercising 5x a week / even though I've stalled here for the last week... I'm content with losing the 20 pounds I have this month and am looking forward to February...

okay got my liquid CLA and borage oil 1000mg pills from neutrion. I read the inital paragraph in the beginning and then read some of the posts. Totally confused on what to take when and how many. I read the bottle and its says 1/2 tsp 2-3 times a day and 1 pill of the borage oil. Is this correct?

Also I am terrified to start this, as i am scared i am going to poop myself and how quickly this comes on. Is it that bad, the stomach issues? I know a totally gross subject :-)

I am 5'7 and between 165-171 (scale needs new battery). I am doing a cardio workout at home (from the makers of p90x but for woman). What is the preferred regimin for this diet? how much cardio do you suggest for the best results? I do have a gym membership, just gotta get my butt up at 4:30am to get there. I was thinking of starting Sunday or monday. Any help / suggestions...

newbie lurker

hi all. i have been reading for the last couple days and just registered today so i could jump in cause i am completly lost. i started reading from the beginning. that was back in 2005. lol so i was skimming through the last couple years and decided to come to present time. trisha i have really been following you and tom and michelle. i went and bought the softgels this time around but it looks like some things have changed.i was planning on taking 5 tonalin and 4 borage. i know in the earlier post it was saying not to take break in between but i just skimmed and you said you should use for 3 weeks then off 2 weeks. what has made you come to this conclusion. and if you could get me up to date that would be awsome cause i am planning on starting friday cause i am finishing up my 7 day detox pills. thanks again and look forward to actually talking with you all....and not just in my head. thanks.

ok well since it slow i might as well get this out of the way. i am 26 5' 7 and my weight is 292 i am currently taking the 7 day detox pill and on day 5. i have lost 5 pounds. but i am also watching what i eat i am wanting to get down to my prbaby weight i had 3 of them.. a boy and 2 girls. and the weight i was when i met my husband back in 2005. that would be 180 but i dont wanna stop there i want to try to get to 160. most of all i wanna see some inches come off. right now they are as follows..please no one laugh cause even i know this is rediculouse...
as of sat the 30th
chest, girls area-57"
top belly-57"
belly button-50"
pouch area-57"
thigh-29"
starting weight-297
ok so hopefully no one got.. but those are my problem areas. and the pants i was in when i was 180 was a 12-13. i am hoping to get there if not lower. ok so any suggestions would be dandy. thanks again.

I think many folks are just following their own plan and using CLA/GLA as a supplement to that plan. I'd heard and read that CLA can stall scale loss, but promotes inches loss, so it depends on what you are doing.

I'm not a good spokesperson cause I have trouble keeping up with my doses, but if you've read some others testimonies, some have lost great inches on the belly.

I'd say you are on a good start by having your measurements. That's probably the most lacking of info when it comes to noticing whether or not something works for you.

ok thanks alot. i know it can stall a little but im hoping to get inches off more than pounds i know sooner or later everything will fall into place. hey u been around for a bit do you know why trisha had said to cycle on and off. i know when this thing first got started they said not to now they are so just wondering why. ok well i hope some others come on to join us cause it would be more accountable for me if i have more people to account for. or something like that. thanks again though for the info.

Okay i started on Sunday, just in case i had any stomach issues (just to be prepared for work). No problems, nothing makes me sick or weird. I've been watching what i eat and working out at night to a cardio disk, too much snow lately to truck my butt to the gym at 4:30am and too damn cold :-) I did get the liquid, the thought of taking 9 pills a day , guess i'll weigh in on Friday, but like metqua said, i think i'd rather lose inches from the blubber belly i have going on from only 1 baby. :-)

Here is the link for the liquid cla
PVL Liquid CLA-3

There is a link there to be notified when it comes in. Put your e-mail there and it will let you know as soon as its available to purchace again. Glad I stocked up !!

Hello kim, metqa, chic, Phil, ADLMA, rcohen, sheri, cricket, kuku, jessie, Lorene, mikki, and everyone else
jessie, The reason I changed about cycling off, is thats what this new liquid cla says to do. The previous kind said you do not need to cycle off, but this new stuff says you do. Not sure what the difference is, but I try to read everything I can about a product before I take it so I can be well informed and take it right.

metqa, your right, it can cause a scale stall while you continue to lose inches, but the scale catches up with occasional whooshes !!

Thanks Jessie. I googles it yesterday and came up with different results... Some people did it for more than one day (seems a little harsh though). All the ones I found did mention warm water... Like for drinking tea (probably to dissolve the salt somewhat). I did notice that the majority off them did stress that it needs to be non iodized sea salt.

I got some Celtic sea salt today and time permitting (gotta get the kids to school first) I will try to do this tomorrow. The timing is a little off... I should have done this before starting the cla/gla, but only decided on this in the last couple of days (low LC has me all stopped Up ).

im thinking about trying lc but i not sure if i could. i love food but if you read my post with all my measurments i could prob use to love it a little less but im reading up on it. it seems a little complicated to me. i do wanna read about ketosis though cause i think if i could get that and stay there i would be ok. but with starting the combo i think it would even it out. so not sure but i am going to start friday i think with combo to see how it goes. seems like it could get a little expensive. i got both my cla and gla at walmart. both 50 caps and those will only last me 10 days. lol so that would not do much. but well see what happens. im also looking into the coconut oil that ive been reading about. so well see. good luck.

Jessie - I've been LC since the end of oct. And it took me less than a week to get to th point of not craving. This is the second that I am LC. The first time I went on for 7 months and lost an average of 10 lbs a month. I wish I hadn't let my husband convince me that eating some carbs wouldn't hurt. I had the hardest time getting back to LC. it took me almost three years. However, now that I LC again I couldn't be happier... And it's only been 4 months but I'm so much healthier, alert, active, and in more of a good mood. I would highly recommend this WOE and WOL. I am doing this in a healthier manner than last time. I'm more aware of what I'm eating... Not just LC but also organic and with less junk in the ingredients. I am using EVCO instead of all other oils and have added ACV as well. (i suspect that i have been suffering from overgrowth of Candida and am taking care of that with colloidal silver).

Part of all of this is also to get into shape. I want to be a good example for my kids... Not an example of not what to do with their lives.
