Best form of Vitamin D for deficiency?
What is the best form of Vitaman D to take if one has a deficiency? Meaning, I know D3, but capsule, gelcap. liquid, etc? Brand? Best?
Thanks. |

no matter what, youre getting the same product, just different form. Its really a personal preference...and what is easier for you to swallow...
I take calcium citrate (calcium citrate 630 mg, D3 400 IU) - aka horse pill D-3 tablet (D3 2000 IU, calcium 111mg) - normal pill (LOL) Last edited by CramerNH; 08-19-2009 at 03:32 AM.. |

If you have any malabsorption issues with the gut (candida overgrowth, gluten intolerance, etc.), a sublingual or liquid form may be best. Also, with the gel caps, the carrier oil is often different...some use olive oil and others use soy which for some is definitely an important deciding factor.

Hi Ricardo! I take Vitamin D by a company called PURE Encapsulations. It is a pharmaceutical grade vitamin D that is more easily absorbed by the body.
My local pharmacy is a small family owned business and they carry it. Before they started to carry it I had to order it online. I tried taking over the counter vitamin D, but my body could not absorb it so my doc switched me to the the PURE encapsulations brand. (No prescription needed.) My suggestion would be to start with any over the counter brand at the dose your doc recommends and then have blood work done about 8 weeks after you start. That will tell you how well you are absorbing the brand you are taking. |
