Hey everyone,

I had a very exciting week last week. I cam e home on Wed and heard a plane coming over my house, i tried to watch but heard a loud "Bang" and the engine had stopped and then there the plane was just about 50 yards from my house!!! OMG I called 911 and ran to the plane to assist the pilot.. he was ok thank God....I think you can still see it...this is from our local paper, www. montrosepress.com

MONTROSE ” Pilot Douglas Borgo escaped with his life after crash-landing his plane in a Montrose neighborhood late Wednesday morning.

“I heard a sound like a backfire kind of a bang and then, nothing,” Michelle Hines said Wednesday afternoon. Hines lives just a few dozen yards from where Borgo’s single-engine Navion came down in front of a church in the 700 block of North Park. She was standing in her yard, on her lunch break, when the plane dropped from the sky.

“The next thing I knew, it hit its wing on Park Avenue and have pivoted around.”, she said.
Joel Blocker / Daily Press Investigators sort through the wreckage after a Navion fixed wing single-engine airplane crashed on North Seventh and Park Avenue late Wednesday morning.

Hines called 911 as she sprinted toward the plane to assist the pilot. She said a man was also on scene helping, but she did not know his name.

“I get the plane open. There’s another gentleman trying to assist the guy. The (pilot) said he hit his head on the instrument panel,” Hines said.

Hines said the pilot was alert, and even mentioned that his wife had been after him to sell the plane.

Planes seem to be falling out of the sky alot lately. A plane crashed in the backyard of BF's neighborhood a couple of weeks ago. It's a tight neighborhood, and the yards aren't big, so it's a miracle it didn't actually crash on someones house.

The pilot died I believe. It was a vintage plane and it stalled after takeoff.

See! I Knew that stuff was the ULTIMATE oil.
I use a glass medical dropper(.5oz) to draw my dose out. I'm afraid the rubber bulb at the top is gonna melt before I'm done with it. YOur post confirmed my fear!

I try not to draw too much so that it doesn't touch the rubber as much.

metqa, it looked funny seeing that spoon melted to the paper plate we keep the combo on lol. Then I started wondering if its doing that to our stomachs , but I havent had any problems with mine

Kim, I have the Now brand also. I take 1/2 tsp cla + 4 borage caps 2 times a day. So I take 8 borage a day. Once before I go to bed, and the other before I eat one of my meals.

I found this info on the GLA and I increased my gla to see how it works

Heres some quick tidbits I grabbed from a "GLA and weight loss" search....

gamma-Linolenic acid (GLA) is an omega-6 essential fatty acid

The percentages of GLA in specialty oils are as follows:
Evening Primrose Oil 10%
Black Currant Oil 17%
Borage Oil 23%

Very little GLA is found in the diet. Borage oil is the richest supplemental source (17% to 25% GLA), followed by black currant oil (15% to 20%) and evening primrose oil (7% to 10%). Borage and evening primrose are the most common sources used in studies.

If your body weight is only 10% above normal (for example, 10 to 20 pounds above average), EPO is unlikely to help you lose weight.

Studies have suggested that up to 2,800 mg of GLA per day is well tolerated

Doses of GLA greater than 3,000 mg per day should be avoided because, at that point, production of AA (rather than DGLA) may increase.

Precautions
Because of the potential for side effects and interactions with medications, dietary supplements should be taken only under the supervision of a knowledgeable healthcare provider.

Omega-6 supplements, including GLA and EPO, should not be used if you have a seizure disorder because there have been reports of these supplements inducing seizures.

Borage seed oil, and possibly other sources of GLA, should not be used during pregnancy because they may be harmful to the fetus and induce early labor.

GLA reduced weight regain in humans following major weight loss, suggesting a role for essential fatty acids in fuel partitioning in humans prone to obesity.

GLA should be taken with food

Early reports suggested the possibility that GLA might worsen temporal lobe epilepsy, but there has been no later confirmation

I think I may give this cla/gla combo a shot for a couple of months. I am hypothyroid and need all the help I can get!

I'm ordering from Netrition today, but may run to Walmart and get some CLA and Borage Oil to start asap.

Anything I should be aware of before I start? Tips?

tia!

IF your pharm is telling you it's the same thing, then he needs to go back to school. It's a different seed and has different properties.

I could see saying borage and primrose are the same since they both have GLA, but Borage has a higher amount of GLA per volume than primrose. It's the GLA that you want and that's why you need Borage Oil. Flax and Fish are omega 3, Borage is omega 6 I believe, but doesn't contribute to inflammation.(?) Any way, don't let someone sell you something besides borage oil. you'd be wasting your money and your effort. Just look for the highest GLA content per serving.

Morning everyone.

Uhgg. Time to get back into home routines! I'm off the juice for a while, taking a break. I'll start back right before Christmas. We are supposed to take breaks from it anyway, right?

Hope everyone had a good holiday. I'm trying not to let my Christmas time gloom settle in as usual
Hey if you want to hear some really cute christmas music, there's an online radio station called somafm.com. you can pick your station genre and they have Christmas music back up. Some is traditional and the other station is more non-traditional and funny.

Gonna put some cheerful music on and do stuff. Ciao!

Hi Metqa.....Just thought I'd share something with you. I just went back to church today after what seemed like many, many years of not going. The message today might help you a bit, I know it did me. Gratitude. Having gratitude for the good things in our lives and not focusing on the lack of. By concentraiting on the good, it brings in more good, then there isn't much room for the bad.

I know we had a discussion about this around this time last year on how we all kind of expect more from the season. I have come to expect the yippy yay stuff goes all the way back to my feelings as a child. Waking up early on Christmas morning to open gifts and then being around loved ones for a big family dinner. Now that I have my own family, it's my job to make it exciting for my kids and others who are not so fortunate. This year, I'm going to appreciate the little things that make my life good, and the not so good will be ignored. I feel really good about that.

gratitude:
a feeling of thankfulness and appreciation;
a positive emotion or attitude in acknowledgment of a benefit that one has received or will receive.
"he was overwhelmed with gratitude for their help"

I'm greatful for the fact that I can choose to put up a fake OR a real tree this year and will buy all new ornaments! Last year we were "house poor" due to 2 mortgages.

I hear you Chic This season is going to be an exercise in enjoying the good things and putting aside the bad. I had a little taste of that this Thanksgiving and it was great. I want to keep that all the time, especially during the 'dark months' .
