Hello everyone. I am new to the boards I started induction 6/6. I have been taking Tonalin CLA 5-6 per day for two weeks and last week started taking S.A.N. T3 with it. I just had also ordered Ephburn 25 and was going to take it with the S.A.N. T3 and stop the CLA. However; since reading the threads I now wonder if I should just do a CLA/GLA combo. I have a problem with eczema and think that the GLA may help. I need so advice. I am seeing results with the CLA/T3 combo. I do not know how my inches I have lost but I certainly have lost some. I can see the difference and so can others.

WoW, welcome to all the new people to the thread !!! its great to see you all here.
I can't answer about the acne, it actually helps my skin, hair and nails. As far as headache's go, the evening primrose will do that. Thats why we take the borage oil for our GLS. It has a higher GLA content too, so less pills to take bsbarlow, It still amazes me when i look back on those pic's how well it worked, and wondering why I am having such a hard time getting back on plan, knowing how well it worked for me then . I was going to curves back then for a couple weeks, but I got lazy and stopped going. The only exercise I did after that was an occasional walk or hike. I did strict LC and I was also taking fish & flax caps tooGotta go watch Bachelorette, be back later

Hey guys, I just bought CLA and Borage Oil at Walmart. The Borage Oil I bought says 'for women's health'. I'm not a woman. Nothing to worry about?

I am hoping that someone will answer Dirtycash soon, because I just ordered the Thinfat which I think also has fish oil and flax along with CLA.
Trisha - Thank you for the warm welcome. I really like it here. I have checked out some of the other boards and you guys seem to be my fit. I just started induction Saturday, I weighed this morning and am down 5 lbs and that is with TOM. I am so excited! Yeah me, with God all things are possible!!!! |

Hey there all! It's been three weeks since using the combo, but I haven't noticed a difference to be honest. I don't do much exercise, it's really hot here but that's no excuse.... But I eat well, I don't eat meat or fatty things. In fact, that's exactly why it's hard for a vegetarian to lose weight in my opinion. Our foods are too rich in carbohydrates. I have ordered whey protein, I will be getting it tomorrow. I will be consuming only protein for as many days it takes to lose the weight I want. It tastes good too, and the lack of carbohydrates and fats will burn the fat off my body so I'm really excited for the results. I'm hoping the results from the combo will be seen during the fourth week, as kycowgirl has said that it took 3-4 weeks for the results to show, so I'm confident the combo will work for me. =]

It is quite a lot of oil, but I don't think there will be a problem. Maybe try not eating too many oily foods while you're taking these supplements. =] good luck!!

welcome Dylan, you can take the borage oil. My hubby Tom takes it and there have been several guys in and out of the thread that have taken it too. When I was taking the fish and flax, I took the cla/gla in the morning, and the fish/flax in the evening. Just dont take them all at once. That is too many oils for your body to absorb at once. I love your av lol. I kept telling Tom when we were in Florida if he didn't take his sunglasses off every now and then, he would look like that
![]() bsbarlow, and we are very happy that your here . I love this board the best too. I dont even go to the others anymore. Very nice people here and on this thread. WTG on the 5 lb loss !!![]() Gold rush, thanks for checking in. I hope it starts working for you soon. I only post from my personal experience with it. Unfortunatley, for whatever reason, there have been a few that it did not work for ![]() Doug, thanks for the advice on the others acne problem. I didn't have any knowledge of that to give. I do remember someone saying that after a few weeks, when their body got used to the extra oils, that it did clear up Tom & I are going to Wyoming from the 18th-26th. His/our son is getting married and we will be bringing his/our daughter home with us to live . It's going to be great having her here !!! I'm not sure how often I will be able to post while we are there, but I'll try to stop in as much as possible. We will be going to yellowstone for a few days. Anyone else been there and have any advice on what to see ???? |

fish oil
I too take fish oil... I just started last week. I take the Tonalin CLA and the Borage Oil(GLA) first thing in the morning. I wait about an hour and a half and take my first fish oil(omega 3) with breakfast and then one with lunch and one with dinner.. except I keep forgetting the dinner one. But I have been taking 2 a day.

good morning. Completed JM and 20 minutes on the bike this morning.
I didn't pack my food very good today - nothing was unthawed. Poor planning on my part. Food for the day: scrambled eggs and sausage, celery, little smokies. I am working on my water today since I have been slacking in that department, already had 90 oz and it is only 1200 noon!!! |

Fonda, why are you drinking so much water? I know that it's good to get adequate amounts of water but if you get too much, some vital minerals get flooded out of your system. Just something my former physical trainer explained to me sometime back.
A big welcome to those who are joining us here. DirtycashDylan, hope you stay on. It's really nice to have a male "voice" on here! ![]() Regarding the skin issue with the combo. When I first started taking the combo, I got really dewy skin.....okay so it wasn't dewy....IT WAS OILY! But it never felt healthier and I never had to use moisturizer, only eye cream. I'd give it some time to see if it balances out. I got on a scale today for what seemed like the first time in months. After discussing another issue I went in for, we started talking about weight gain. Simply explained. Energy put in vs energy put out. Eat less and move more. That's all? Wow! What a concept doc. ![]()

I have a question. I just started the combo last night and maybe I should not have taken it this way. I took the 2 each of the CLA and GLA together at 5:30pm and then two more at 9pm and went to bed at 10:30. This morning I am barely in Ketosis. Is this because of the combo? I really like to see that little stick turn colors, it gives me a mental boost, especially since I just started LC'ing again.

good morning ladies! No exercise for me this morning. I stayed up late last night visiting with my sister and then fought with my daughter until almost 12 to go to sleep. I apparently slept through my alarm at 420 and didn't wake up until 550. Guess I needed that extra sleep . Today is my Friday and I am definitely ready for it.

chic, hope everything is ok. My Dr. told me to eat more, move more. I'm not eating enough to keep my metabolism up.
bsbarlow, I don't recall anyone saying the combo kept them out of ketosis. I never could get those sticks to change color even though I was losing weight and inches. On the water issue, when I had a kidney stone, I asked the Dr. if I was drinking enough water. She said listen to your pee (TMI lol). If its clear, your drinking enough, yellow, drink more Good morning Fonda ![]() I go to lexington Friday to my physical rehab Dr. to get my neck checked again from the slope car accident at work back in august. Its been hurting more and more and my right arm has no strength. I moved some stuff to the barn yesterday and it hurt to put any weight on my right arm. I really hope I didnt mess my neck up again. The orthapedic surgeon that work made me go see recommends 6 weeks of physical therapy 3-4 times a week and if that doesnt help, then an MRI would be in order. Why dont they do that first to see whats going on before they torture you with traction and therapy !!! They put me through therapy for 6 weeks the first time before they discovered my disc was blown to bits . hopefully my Dr. will do an MRI first ![]() Last edited by kycowgirl; 06-10-2009 at 06:54 AM.. |

Trish-- Goood luck Friday. I have carpal tunnel(both hands),trigger finger in my rh middle finger (Boyd says it is from flipping people off
) and De Quervian disease(see below) in the thumb and index finger up the side to my wrist. Whew !!! When it flares up it hurts all the way to my shoulder sometimes (like now) I had cortisone shots in Jan. I guess they have worked off now. Dr. said if the shots did not help... Surgery . Looks like thats going to happen !!!!RAINING AGAIN !!!!! Matter of fact it is storming now..I was going to mow today !!! Going to make the crackslaw today. No matter what I do now I just can't get the weight to start dropping again !!! For the new posters---- The combo, just doesn't work for me. But congrats to the ones it has worked for and for the ones just starting , good luck !! Arthritis: de Quervain's Disease Information de Quervain's disease is a painful inflammation of tendons in the thumb (tenosynovitis). The swollen tendons and their coverings rub against the narrow tunnel through which they pass. The result is pain at the base of the thumb. What Causes de Quervain's Disease? Often, the cause is unknown, but overuse, a direct blow to the thumb, repetitive grasping, and certain inflammatory conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis can all trigger the disease. Gardening, racquet sports, and various workplace tasks may also aggravate the condition. Who Gets de Quervain's Disease? While anyone can get de Quervain's, it affects women eight to 10 times more often than men. What Are the Symptoms of de Quervain's Disease? Pain along the back of the thumb, directly over two thumb tendons, is common in de Quervain's. The condition can occur gradually or suddenly; in either case, the pain may travel into the thumb or up the forearm. Thumb motion may be difficult and painful, particularly when pinching or grasping objects. Some people also experience swelling and pain on the side of the wrist at the base of the thumb. The pain may increase with thumb and wrist motion. Some people feel pain if direct pressure is applied to the area. |

Trisha - Thank you for your quick response. I tested again and this time it showed that I am still in Ketosis.
It seems from some of the post that the combo causes weight loss to stall , please say it ain't so . I am just starting to see that scale go down and I don't want it to stop (down another lb. today which makes it six since Saturday). |

bsbarlow, it does tend to cause a "scale" stall, but the inches still come off. The scale catches up with occasional whooshes. Mine were like 3-5 lb whooshes and well worth the wait !!
Kim, sorry to hear that. It sounds so painful . @ flipping people off !! I keep getting those ganglion cysts in my wrists (have one now) and thats painful enough !! I used to smack them on a wall or my desk top to bust them until I read that could damage the nerve they are attached to . Lemme know if you have to have the surgery and if you need help, just call me. I'm still layed off for now and would be glad to come help you ![]() |

ketosis
barlow
from what I remember reading about ketosis is that a "trace" of keytones on the stick or the deep purple on the stick does not indicate how much weight you will lose. It simply means that you are expelling keytones. The more water you drink the more diluted the keytones are in your body....so if you are in deep purple you might want to drink more water. That is just an understanding I have of research I have done.. I could be wrong, but that is what I remember.. you can check yourself.. just google ketosis and see what you come up with. As far as the scale "stalling", supposedly.. CLA creates lean muscle which weighs more than fat. So.... if you are making muscle and burning fat it could keep the scale at a stall. Measure yourself weekly to make sure you are losing inches. I have lost 3 inches and only 5 or 6 lbs. If I hadn't been measuring I would be feeling very frusterated that the scale isnt moving too much. I know it is working though because my belly flab has shrunk a lot ![]() ![]() .. something I have been trying to work on for months. My appetite has diminished and my immunity has gotten better. I love the combo. Hope you see similar results. |
