![]() SPOONBILL!!!!!!!!!! That there is a spoonbill. They swim up river every spring to spawn. They rarely bite on a hook and if they do they just happen to be at the right place at the wrong time. We snag them here. Very tasty fish. Did ya keep him. Bet he put up a hell of a fight! To clean them first you hang them from the head and cut the tail off to let them drain. Next skin them like a catfish and look for a dark vein that runs down the back of the fish. Cut this out and throw it out. Cut the fish into cubes, batter and fry like catfish. Good stuff.

I'll be back later to catch up. We are cleaning the garage today and I just came in to get some food.
Been finding mushrooms in the yard again this year. Found 10 so far and they were grey. Still waiting for the yellows to pop up. We should have a bunch of them this year. Ok...gotta go. Now I want to go snaggin spoonbill!!!! Damn they fight good. I went with a bunch of friends a few weeks ago and a buddy caught a 42 pound spoonie. He had to chase him about 200 yards down river because the fish stripped all the line off his reel. |

Phil,
I knew a fish pic would "reel" you back in . so thats the official name...spoonbill. Its still ugly lol. Tom doesnt keep his fish, he throws them back after he gets his picture of the good ones. Its not safe to eat fish from the ohio river here I wouldnt think. He said that one weighed about 40 lbs and he caught it on a 6 lb lineLast edited by kycowgirl; 05-03-2009 at 12:05 PM.. |

Ok, I'm done with the garage, what a mess! It still needs some work but it is allot better then what it was. Trying to get all the fishing, hunting and camping stuff organized as well as all my tools and crap. I can't believe how much crap I have. I need a bigger garage!
Kim....Thanks for sharing the pic and congrats on your loss. You look great! Chic.....ummm...yeah. ![]() :notwrthy : From your 1st pic to your 2nd pic to your 3rd pic then back again to your 2nd pic then back again to the 3rd pic and then comparing #2 and #3 to #1....all I can come up with is WOW! You've came a long way and you're looking great! Did you say TOMBSTONE? Love that movie but you all already know that. I saw a clip of Wyatt Earp on History yesterday. It suprises me that you have a friend who has caught spoonbill. I thought that they were more of a midwest fish but I don't know. Don't take that the wrong way...not meaning to cut you down or anything.Heyjupiter....I get excited when the UPS guy drives into our drive too. It means I just got some neet stuff from some outdoors company that my wife will be pissed about. LOL I've been kicking around the idea of starting the cla/gla again. I've been off the stuff for a while now and i still post here only because these people are so freakin' awesome. Trish....thanks for sharing the pics. You GD is a cutie!! Spoonbill are filter feeders like whales. They swim with their mouths open and filter their food out of the water. They are harmless. The gar..they are pretty spooky. Now a flathead is the fish of fish. No teeth but they have a strong jaw and get BIG! Metqa...I got the mean email you sent me and I will stop calling you. I thought we were friends.... ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Sorry, I couldn't resist. Hope you email does some good. Get yourself a boating blow horn at china mart and give him an ear full if he ever calls back. That'll teach him. A guy at work put one of those things in my face during lunch time and blew it. Should of seen the look on his face when I grabed him but the shirt collar and pulled him in the truck with me. LOLI haven't made a fattie for awhile now but it sounds good. Think I'll head outside and see if I can find some more mushrooms. Last edited by iabowhunter; 05-03-2009 at 04:42 PM.. |

I caught a gar fish once! Scared me silly. I was just a kid. They have big awful scales and huge teeth. It looked like it was living when the dinos lived! Freaky thing was thrashing around in the boat. I was curled up on one of the seats yelling, "Throw it back out! Throw it back out!" My dad kept the thing. None of us knew what it was. We had to look it up when we got home. Wicked creature. It was past ugly!

Phil....Thank you! Now...... you know it is very possible for me to have good friends who live in the midwest. My DH is from the midwest! I didn't take offense to it at all. I guess when you fish for these guys it's supposed to be some kind of a great arm workout? Have you ever done this???
Weekend is over.....Back to the usual. |

Trish.......MORE RAIN this week !!!
I get so unmotivative on rainy days. I also have a tendency to munch.DS goes back to work Monday the 11th( ), he was getting so bored.Normally he is laid off from the middle of Dec to around March 1st. Thank goodness the state let go of some funds. ![]() But today he has me scheduled to help him move furniture while carpet is being laid. And cook breakfast, his request, sausage, eggs, gravy and biscuits, .Here are the others : bring the right wrench to disconnect the gas fireplace, (he said Dh would send the right one to do the job.... Dh left this morning forgetting to lay out the wrench... ![]() hem, new curtains (gonna use the iron on hemming tape) bring my pledge duster for in between cracks thinks the pictures need dusted and the glass cleaned ( now just who do you think is going to do that LOL) I am sure there is more. ![]() Just hope his hyper chocolate lab, doesn't need a bath she is just to wild for me. I like my lazy ole laid back pooch. We have a mommy fox with two babies running around the past couple days , So cute.... he comes to get me to check them out, now what does he think I am going to do , he just lays there until they leave (smart move) then of course he has to go sniff and pee. On top of all this I have been up since 4:15 to get Dh ready to leave for the week. Better go looks like it going to be a busy day .... you think !!! Have a good day all... Welcome back Phil, we missed you !!! Last edited by kimlou; 05-04-2009 at 03:57 AM.. |

Well, thats over with (phew)!
I mowed our yard after I got back too. I have a drs appt in Ashland tomorrow morning at 8:30 am. I want to stay ahead of the rain so after I get back tomorrow I need to weedeat. That is IF I can get Boyds stupid weedeater to start. I never can get his to start and mine needs a spark plug. After today there had better be a whoosh in my near future. |

I'm taking a break from mowing now myself lol. Tom did the trim work and headed to the damn to fish. He caught a 50 lb catfish already !!! I got a feather-lite weedwacker i really like. Its not heavy at all, but I am not supposed to use it because of my neck injury. The vibration makes my arm not work for awhile
![]() back to finish mowing............... Tom used his upgrade to get me a new IPhone . I LOVE it !! I have been getting free apps for it to play with !! 'ing for a big whoosh for you
