My day was good! Took the boys to the park to hit some baseballs then it was home for naps. Today is a school day for my oldest so after I dropped him off I just went grocery shopping then we'll be going out for pizza later.

Keep taking your meds and take it easy. Gotta get those ribs back in shape!

Hugs to ya......

Hi guys/gals. I had a nice visit with my oldest daughter who was home from college on a short break. The presidential debates were at her university on Tuesday and that is why she decided to come home.

for Trish.

Hi everyone .

Michele, glad you had a nice visit with your daughter

We are going on vacation to Tennessee Oct 20-26 and I am planning on restarting the combo when we get back. I got a supply of Chantix so I can try to stop smoking then too and maybe not gain alot of extra weight if I am on plan at the same time. Hope I can stick with it this time.

Hows everyone else doing ?

lucki, how about a rib update , feeling any better yet?

i'm hangin' in there! I have decided not to listen to the radiologist's report as i think he didn't get ALL the films that night. SO, i am saying it's broken because it feels that way! I will probably have a CT scan next week tho....so i'll know better what is happening but my doc says she isn't gonna do anything different if it is broken or not. I have some good meds now and i'm doing better with them!!! Gonna get some much needed rest this weekend. Thanks for askin Trish!! Hope you have LOTS of fun in Tennessee!!! Tell Tom hello......

Atkins and CLA/GLA?!?!?!

Hi everyone! I am new to this site and just want to say thanks for sharing all of this wonderful information! I will be starting Atkins tomorrow and was just curious if any of you had experience with Atkins and taking CLA/GLA? I guess what I want to know is if it is okay to start this along with Induction? I know I also need to start taking a good multivitamin....anyone have any suggestions of which one to use?

Icats77, Welcome to the thread and the site neighbor
This combo works very well with Atkins. One thing you have to remember is that it can cause a "scale" stall. It does go to work shrinking fat cells but at the same time its building "lean" muscle so the scale can say your not losing while your clothes are getting looser. The scale will catch up with occasional "whooshes". Its a personal preference when you start it. Some wait until after induction because they want to see that scale go down first. I took it at the start of induction and had great results, which is what I plan to do again after vacation.
About the multi...I found one that I love called Multibionta50. Its a probiotic multivitamin that prevents the constipation issue that usually goes with LC'ing for me.
Hope this helped answer your questions. Post back oftern and let us know how its working for you please

Kycowgirl, Thanks so much for the info! I'm sure I would have been freaking out if I didn't see the scale move much during induction and would have assumed that I was doing something wrong. At least this way I won't be shocked if it doesn't move as much as I would like. I will just trust in the mirror and with the way my clothes are fitting instead!!

Hi everyone--I have a question for the experts! I think I read some information (on this thread maybe?) quite awhile back about taking the combo after surgery--like maybe there was a minimum period of time to wait afterwards? Anyone remember that information by any chance? I did a little searching on the net but was having a hard time finding any specifics.

TIA!

Teresa123, Welcome to the thread. The Borage oil is a blood thinner, so if your having surgery you have to stop taking it a couple weeks before and dont resume until the Dr. says its ok, usually a couple weeks after. I just saw your stats WW !!! you went from 350 to 150.8?? Amazing !!! Congrats

Hey, all, I've been just lurking, got a lot on my mind, trying to get my house in order.

I decided to stop taking the CLA in one big dose and to spread it out during the day with meals. It was too hard to glug 4 pills at once in the morn and it was giving me stomach upsets. I think I'll be more consistent this ways since I eat every day, but I find all sort of ways to forget my CLA in the morn. I'm trying to focus on the pills that absolutely have to be taken in the morn on an empty(amino acids, etc), so I can get a routine back.

Sorry haven't been keeping up. Hope everyone is doing well. Lucky, hope your feeling better.

Metqa, no worries about lurking.

Icats77 and Teresa123.

Trish - Good luck on quitting. I hope it works for you. Enjoy your vacation in Tennessee!

Sorry I haven't been checking in as regularly. I've been really busy this past weekend doing stuff for my MIL (yard work, etc.) and then our local pumpkin fest and also a dedication of a replica of a nail factory that was in our area many years ago. Monday was spent at the casino (we took my MIL) and today I have begun patching little knicks in the drywall in our kitchen with putty and then sanding it. I would like to finish painting it (I started in Sept.) and get the stuff put away before the weather gets too cold to have the windows open.

I hope everyone has a good night. I'm off to bed.

so Ive been reading your thread and about the CLA. I am on the Medi Weight Loss and have lost 35 lbs in six weeks. And although my clothes are much looser and I know I have lost weight. I havent really dropped a jean size yet. I have had two babies in twenty months the youngest is now eight months and had two c-sections. But im still having a hard time losing the belly. Is this the stuff that can help. I went to Walmart and CVS looking for CLA adn GLA and came back confused with the choices and amounts. The guy at GNC said that I would have to take such a large amount for it to work that it wouldnt be possible. It crushed my hopes. I also read about the stall in weight loss. I don't care so much about numbers as sizes.

metqa, Michele, Thanks for checking in

Teresa, looking forward to seeing your results !!

snowyleilani, welcome to the thread. Congrats on the 35 lb loss so far. Thats fantastic !!! I have listed several links of what type to get at the bottom of the first post. In a nutshell...you need 3400mg of the Tonalin CLA, and 500-1000 mg GLA. It will be in stores as Borage Oil caps. The links listed in the first post show exactly how much of each you take. Usually its 5 cla and 2-4 borage oil a day. This combo does work to shrink the belly fat. It takes longer for some than others for whatever reason, but you should start seeing good results in about 3 weeks. The research also said, the more you have to lose, the better it works, so someone with just a little to lose may not see big results. When I was doing it right, with diet and some exercise, I lost about 20 pounds and 16 inches and went from a tight 18 to a snug 12 in 3 months. Hope this helps

I'm really starting to see a dramatic change in my tummy. I've only been taking these since Sunday, but I can see my belly fat diminishing. Could that be? I started Atkins on Monday and have lost 5 lbs, so I know that is part of it. Am I insane or what?!?!? Surely, it couldn't work that quickly!?!?

It usually takes a couple weeks to see results, but yes its very possible to see & "feel" it working sooner. We have had several members over the years have quick results just like that. Your one of the lucky ones . I love the way it "defines" the belly area and melts the back fat. It pulls your waist in from the sides and really defines the abs. Added with diet and exercise, in my opinion, there is nothing quicker or better . This would be a good time for you to take some before pics. Take them front, side and back. Once a month, take 3 new pics of the same and compare them. You will be amazed !!! You dont have to post them, but it would be very motivating if you wanted to . We used to all post progress pics the first of every month and it really got people motivated to see all the great results. But if you prefer not to post them, please take them anyway so you can see the results yourself. Keep us posted on your results please and WTG !!

BTW....your daughter is adorable !!!!

I think I'm going to start the combo again.. It's been over a year since I've used it..

I have a question for any math wizs...

I got Natrol brand, but they now have a 1200mg formula.. There's nowhere that it says what the CLA % is, on the bottle or anywhere I can find on hte web... So I assume it's still 60-70%, like their 1000mg..

Now my question is, do I still need the 5 pills a day, or would 4 be enough. I am no math person, even tho I tried.. All I did was confuse myself..

I'm thinking I may still need the 5, but hoping for 4, {3 would probably be WAY to much to hope for...}

Thanks to anyone who might be able to help a girl out...

Trish...

Well crap.... I really thought that would be the answer, but manOman was I holding on to the small hope I really did mess the math up, and could take just 4... Oh well... What's another horse pill or 5, added to the mix... Thanks Trish...

I'll be starting the combo Monday, I think...

You guys have a safe trip. Hope you get to check in... You need to come to the ROCKIE mountains, BTW...

Need help with Sizing . . .

Hi, Everybody! Happy Sunday! I'm still only taking about one or two CLA each day but I'm working my way up.

Umm, I wonder if someone could give me some advice about buying a leotard.

I don't know what adult size to buy and there are no instructions or standards on what each size means. They are of course small, medium, large and extra large, but does anyone know what that means in terms of measurements?

Like from what height and weight does each size accomodate. I hate buying clothes for women, it is so darn difficult. Men's clothes all have numbers. Waist inches, inseam inches, neck inches, you never have to guess, women stuff is duh, Small? um, Large? How the heck are we supposed to order something we can't see if we don't even know the dimensions!!!!

I never buy womens clothes except at thrift stores and I never know what the size is cause the tags are ripped out or whatever. I can't find any store in town that sell adult leotards so I could try them on so . . .

ETA: I think I finally found a site that actually lets you put your own measurements in and recommends a size. But I'd still like your input if you have any. My height puts me in X-small, My weight put me in medium, my chest puts me in small, and my hips put me in Large!
