I have a bunch of days off before the Holiday week and I just asked for a bunch more days off for the holidays. I'm not sure what to do with myself.

I've been missing Qiwi really hard lately for some reason. I suppose its because I got this little tree for us to use and I didn't get to use it. I keep finding the little bulbs that she took off the tree and stashed all over the house. Now, I've got an empty house at Holiday time. I still remember the crazy trip we took on Christmas Eve last year. I tried to take a different route and got lost. I kept falling asleep and Qiwi kept freaking out, until finally I parked in a Whole Foods Parking lot and people kept walking by to see the strange lady asleep in the car with a cat in her lap! We had some good times.

Why the heck am I so emotional right now . . .

ETA: and by the way, It's not Tom or Aunt Flo
ETA: I hate the Holiday season. . . .

This is what I think my issue around this time of year is and I'm working to change things.

I think what happens is that I anticipate for something more to happen, for a magical feeling to appear but become dissapointed when it doesn't and I think it goes back to my childhood. As children we were excited about Christmas morning. Growing up we were accoustomed to certain celebrations that we found comforting but then we just grew up. Things changed after moving away and it's not really the same magic anymore. So each year I expect and hope to feel that way again after seeing tv commercials of "happy people" sitting around opening the "perfect presents" in their "perfect surroundings." It's all an illusion! I can only be as merry I make it so I try to concentrate on the reason for the season and not get hung up on finding that lost feeling.

Wow....just so what i needed to hear this morning Chic...thanks for posting and sharing what's inside. i too am having trouble FEELING that christmas spirit...i know it's there but it comes and goes. I think the key to feeling it is to be it. I've been playing a christmas album in my car and it helps. For me christmas was never a happy time. i had a real idiot as a stepfather way back when and it was just never pleasant. Christmas became christmas when i had kids and my step kids never celebrated it the way we were used to so it was fun to make it happen for them......but now they are teens and we barely can get them to trim the tree. To me that feeling is like tucked back in the closet and you just have to find the edge of it to pull it out. Christmas is all the good that is. Sending much Christmas to you my friend.

I totally agree with the magical illusion thing.....when i was a kid growing up my mom and dad gave me and my sis a wonderful christmas every year, but since she passed in 1991 when i was only 17 its been very hard for me every year, and not really getting into the family thing, i do try to make it a good x-mas for my kiddo's

Getting ready for a winter storm warning starting this afternoon... Snow is beautiful, but i dont like driving in it!

I think the thing with Christmas anymore is it's too commercial. And you have such a big build up to the big day.....then after that....nothing, its all over but the mess . I think alot of people forget the real reason for the season
