Mikki...Was just wondering if you are going to let loose at the holiday table? You are so disciplined. Oh well....I'm off to buy my holiday foods. Talk about procrastination! The good thing is I only have to make one dish this year. Yay! Going over to family's house this time. With setting on plan eating aside....what is your favorite T-giving dish? I can't have T-giving without my broccoli cheese casserole. It only has 3 ingredients but it's yummmmy. Broccoli, velveeta cheese and saute'd ritz crackers. I know it sounds weird but it's good. Have a great day everyone! ![]()

Speaking of money... Anyone going cheap on the Christmas gifts this year due to the economy? We are. I figure that the more money we save on Christmas the more money we'll have in our pockets. Now with that being said I was thinking of a good friend of mine who has been out of a job since early summer. He has been looking but no one is hiring in his field around here. I talked to a local farmer who once in a while will donate pork or beef to a needy family and ask if he would be willing to do so. He said he knew my friend and thought allot of him and his family and said yes. So my friend and his family will be getting a 1/4 beef for Christmas and I will pick up the locker bill. It will be anonymous. I'll have the locker call him up and tell him to come get it and the bill has been paid in full. Or I might send them a Christmas card that says do not open untill Christmas morning and write something about the meat in it. It will still be totally anonymous. I don't want them knowing that it was me. Anybody have any ideas of what to write on the card? I'm not good with that kind of stuff. The reason I am doing this is because when I was on strike from work a couple years ago we got a $75.00 gift card and I am sure it was them who did it. I never ask him...just counted my blessings and thanked the good Lord!

Gosh Phil....That is so touching. After all, isn't that what the spirit of Christmas really is? Giving to those in need? We did something similar for a family a few Christmas' back with a major grocer's gift card. I mailed it to them with no return address but signed it from "The Christmas Angel." My thoughts are.....how soon can you get the meat into the locker? If you can get it in there by say...December 10th, you can mail a card out to them by or just after that date with an explanation of the gift. That way it can be utilized for most of the month of December which would include a good meal on Christmas! If you think about it, he could probably use it right away if they are hungry, and December is month of gift giving anyway so you wouldn't need to wait until the 25th. Just my idea, I'm sure whatever you decide will be a blessing to them. ![]() |

The beef will not go to the locker untill Dec. 22nd. Maybe sooner. I don't want to push the farmer. I'm sure that they are doing fine food wise, they are pretty tight with their money.
The reason I thought of sending a card with a printed letter in it was so when they do get a call from the locker they are expecting it. Know what I mean. I don't know. Maybe I'll write something out and when I go to pay for the beef have them call my friends and read the letter I give them. Something like...This is the locker calling. We have a 1/4 beef here that has been paid for by someone and they want you to have it. It's all yours, free and clear. Merry Christmas. Maybe not so corny though. That's why I need ideas...so it doesn't sound like me. ![]() ![]() ![]() |

I know I am a day late, but Happy Thanksgiving everyone !!!
Michelle, glad to see you back my friend .We are doing Thanksgiving dinner at my sisters Sunday, so yesterday since we were both off work, and we have Treva and Hailey here until after surgery, we did the Christmas decorating. It was 50 out and a good day to do it without freezing. Papaw Tom did a great job on the outside decorations and Treva and I did the inside. I took some pics but they are blurry so I'll try again tonight. Tom took a good one on his IPhone I'll get from him. Now I am off to go Black Friday shopping . Treva wont be able to get out after the 18th so we have to do what we can now. Good to see so many still active on the thread . Michelle (got2luv) is the one who started all this back in 1995. Thank you Michelle ![]()

Heres a couple pics that didnt come out too blurry. Doesn't Tom look thrilled lol I think he was just a little tired from all the decorating
We have Trevas baby tree up now she uses for her apartment, but we are taking both grandaughters Christmas tree hunting this weekend. I love a real tree especially if I can find one with pinecones and listen to them pop and crack when they get warm. Oh and the smell of fresh pine mmmmm !!! Trish, 1995?
LOL nope, it was 2005!!! How did you do with your Black Friday shopping? I went with my sis this morning.... woke up at 1:30am-left the house at 2:30am. I had to drive to Pensacola to meet her and we went from there... I can't even tell you how many stores we shopped in. We started at Walmart and went to the mall from there. While we were at Walmart I saw this woman get shoved to the ground because there were only 39 Xbox's. People were pushing and cussing eachother. Glad I didn't want one of those!!! How many of you are cutting your Holiday Budget this year? I know I am. ![]() Planning to go back on induction tomorrow. ![]() ![]() ![]()

LOL! We didn't see any untill we were driving home. The whole thing was a bust. It was a good time though with Jacob. We got set up in the blind he checked out dad's gear then he played a game on his game boy DS and I played pocket yatzee while we waited. Finally around 4:30 he said "I want to go home."
That was fine with me so we climbed out of the blind, tore it down and headed home. He want's to go again but next time he want's to see deer. I told him I did too!Jerky is done and in the freezer. I also made some deer sticks and they will go in the smoker tomorrow morning. It's been a busy day! Michelle...I am cutting my budget too. Hey, check back in more often. We miss you! Trish...not even taking a chainsaw? ![]() |

Good Morning!!!
Ok, Breakfast this morning is Bacon and eggs. ![]() Lunch, I dunno.... something to do with turkey I'm sure. ![]() (does anyone have a good low carb recipe for turkey casserole?) Supper, I'm thinking about maybe a hamburger steak with salad. ![]() I think I'm going to wait til after induction to start the combo. I'm going to go ahead and take pics and measurements. I have tons of homework to do, this is the week before class finals. So, I need lots of energy and concentration. Anyone want to adopt 3 little boys? ![]() Last edited by got2luv; 11-29-2008 at 05:41 AM.. |

Phil, no chainsaw either lol. We are looking at Lowes. No sense letting all those trees get cut down for nothing. I do remember the days of taking the horses out and cutting a cedar tree and bringing it home through the snow. Now that was fun. About the deer...they are everywhere here. They stand along side of the roads and highways and its a trick not to run over them. That jerky looks great !! Can you scan some to us please lol
Michelle, looks like your off to a good start. I am too stressed to even try to diet right now. After things calm down when Treva's surgery is over and I know she will be ok, I plan to get back on plan and quit smoking. I got my Chantix ready to go and I'll stock up on my cla/gla. I have managed to lose 2 stress pounds lately Hi Michele ![]() Hey Metqa, hope your feeling better real soon ![]() |
