Losin4good - "mother" is to vinegar what "starter" is to sourdough. The mother has the enzymes and all the other "good stuff" we take vinegar for [oops, sorry for the dangling participle]. First time you use it, shake shake shake the bottle til it's all mixed. With each subsequent use, one good shake should do it.
If you can't find organic apple cider vinegar in a local store, there are places online that will gladly sell it to you. My first bottle of Braggs was ordered from the Bragg website, and I think another poster on this thread mentioned Tropical Tradition's, too. Google it and you'll find plenty of suggestions.
Good luck (as we say where I work, "blessed providences" )

But you def need to read through this thread and this one as well: http://www.lowcarbfriends.com/bbs/ma...-when-why.html before you buy the ACV. The regular store bought kind doesn't contain the mother and isn't pure.

My MIL is obsessed with Honey, but you could easily use a drop or two of Stevia. There are some health benefits of using LOCAL honey, though because there will be traces of local allergens in it and can help make you more resistant to your seasonal allergies. Being pregnant, I may continue with the honey, but for those trying to lose weight, I suggest not using the honey, of course.

While 40lbs. was not water weight entirely, it was some as well as other losses because of a "different" metabolic affect in this person's daily regime. In example, refined foods require the body to pull vitamins, minerals and enzymes because they contain none. So the ACV has assisted those refined foods per se but I have a feeling if this person is still maintaining a high carb refined lifestyle, her success will come to a halt quite shortly. One can only consume primarily refined foods for so long while dieting. The plateau is just around the corner.

For the person on BP meds?? Don't worry about natural sources of potassium...it is often said that potassium improves blood pressure from natural sources. I'm quite sure your Rx refers to synthetic.

Acid reflux? Yes but alkalize the ACV with baking soda first.
I believe she is quite happy with the weight loss she has experienced and really does have much need to lose any further. Now she just needs to "maintain" this new physique. I do believe the weight loss is due to water loss and having a decreased appetite. Luckily, she has had a recent bout of Diabetes (not sure which type) but was eventually cured of it and has not had a single problem since she underwent a full hysterectomy in April. She has tested this over the past few months and has found now change in her once-high insulin levels. Her doctors are quite baffled as well!

I do have a feeling she will start to eat healthier to maintain her loss. If anything, I will encourage her!

I'm starting to use ACV more in my every day life (not just in the drinks).

Last night I sliced some cucumbers and Onions and put them in a bowl. I drizzled ACV all over them and then added salt and pepper.

I enjoyed them and then made sure that I drank the left over ACV juice from the bowl. (No way I was going to waste it). lol

I would like to experiment with AVC and other low carb veggies.

Maybe putting them in a container with AVC and letting them marinate in the Fridge.

I did feel VERY full after eating those last night.

Any other ideas?

Sort of like the windex in My Big Fat Greek Wedding!

I wonder how his teeth stood up to that. Maybe he rinsed well after brushing!

Do you get the same benefits from ACV pills/tablets as you do in the liquid form?

*jumping in* *Hi Tooter!*

After a summer of debauchery I gained a boatload of weight and I have been having a heck of a time losing(I apply a strong cortisone to my daughters skin and I sweat I have blown up like a tic this year and other than my age..39...I don't have anything else to blame) so my mother(all 103 pounds of her was telling me about this Apple Cider Vinegar 600 she has been using...well lo and behold I have been using it since Tuesday and I am already down 6 pounds!!!!!!!!!

You *do* pee ALOT.I only get in MAYBE 2 litres of water a day on a good day..usually only 2 798 ml bottles if I am lucky.

I know it is water but I feel SO much better!!!

I heard it is best to cut back on dairy with Apple Cider Vinegar of any sort...well I am down to some cream in my coffee in the morning..my drug! But I may be willing to kill that if I am seeing results.

Bummer.

So much easier to swallow a pill than to drink a glass of ACV 3x day.

Kewl kinda like the old grapefruit diet-the acid helps increase absorption. I take it for the health benefits-it has never caused weight loss for me.

If I can't find it in my health food section at Sobeys or Superstore (dunno if you have those stores in Montreal) then I'll check out WalMart maybe.. I don't think Shoppers Drug Mart has any ACV...........
