Ah, that explains it then. Almond milk probably doesn't curdle in the presence of acids like cow's milk does.

All I could imagine was the effect I've seen using lemon juice or vinegar on fresh cream or milk to get "sour cream" or "buttermilk" for a recipe in a pinch

Now one thing I haven't tried yet is adding ACV to an egg cream which is what it sounds like you're doing here. Is that correct? (I make mine with real heavy cream, flavoring and eggs only so I guess I shouldn't be shocked if mine does um....thicken up a bit).

EGG-ZACTLY!!! Adding ACV to my morning Egg Cream works SO well for me!

Sometimes, instead of almond milk, I'll use organic, plain kefir, which is already curdled, but not unappetizing. Think yogurt but not as thick.

Actually, when I want a buttermilk for a recipe, I do add ACV or lemon juice to my raw almond milk and it works!

Yes, just like milk. The ACV thickens it slightly and so does the eggs (2).

OMG! I was just reading through this whole thread, and came upon this post. Lisa, when I drink wine, I get these sharp pains, in the soft spot underneath my ear-lobes. I have tried to explain this to people...feels like someone sticking an ice pick in those two areas. So, I've decided I'm allergic to wine. But, I had no clue what was in wine, to make me have that reaction. I bet it's sulfites. What else contains them...do you know?

BTW...I came home from work today, and DH had bought me a bottle of Bragg ACV. It was setting on my desk. I asked him how he knew what brand to buy, and he said, "That's the brand they had at GNC". He had gone there today, to get some Echinacea and remembered I wanted some ACV. So, I started tonight...about a teaspoon in a glass of water.

I started using ACV two weeks ago and for the first time in 7 years of lc I am skipping meals. I never lost my appitite at all even in strictest induction until I tried the ACV. So thanks to everyone for all the threads about it.

I'm also sleeping better. I used to only get 5 and 1/2 hours a night and would wake and be up, then need a nap in the after noon. Now I sleep 7-8 hours without waking unless I've drank to much before bed. I don't even turn over in bed any more.

I'm looking forward to seeing what else improves as I continue with it. I've decided I don't want to be without it ever again.

It tastes bad and I have to dillute and sweeten it but I feel better so I guess I'm willing to use it. I use one tablespoon three times a day with meals. When I skip a meal I still take my vinegar water. Dh can't believe I'm still drinking it with the bad face I make to get it down, and he is amazed I skip an occasional meal too. I've never done that in 33 years of marraige. So...
it may be a "fad" but it's helping me!

Well, I need to ask a question that I know have been answered but for the life of me can't find it. It's about how to take it. Someone mentioned taking it with carbonated drinks and someone else (I believe it was Fawn) said that was a really bad idea. I'd like to revisit that subject and make sure I remembered that right.

Just realized I also haven't had any muscle spasms or eye twitches in the last 2 wks. That's also a plus. The vinegar is the only thing I've changed in my life.

Hi! I was the one who was drinking ACV with diet orange soda. It was yummy! However, I do believe Fawn was correct, as usual. After about a week of that routine, I developed hives on my one thigh. I cut all ACV and diet orange soda until they cleared. I am now drinking ACV in plain water, it really tastes good, now that I am over the initial fear! I am kinda waiting to see if the ACV causes me to again develop hives. It was probably a reaction to all the citric acid in the soda, with the ACV pushing it over the edge. Hope that helps!

Put some In some water and add some stevia to it.

I also will put it in some Iced tea with a little stevia. It tastes like an apple cider tea that way.

Ok, thanks guys. I was putting stevia in it for a while and it was pretty good. Then I discovered putting it in sprite. Yummy :-) But I'll go back to plain water and stevia :-)

I mix mine with packaged drink mixes, find fruit punch, cherry, or strawberry to the be best for my taste. I just mix up a gallon picture and drink throughout the day. Even if the drink mix is sweetened, I and use a combo of sweeteners (usually xylitol and erythritol) until it just has a slight twang.

Hi Meek - did you get married? HOw are things going for you? I am starting my new induction tomorrow. Had too many stresses and sounds like a lot of excuses. My mom and my son, both had surgery, daughter moved and put house up for sale. Now, no more excuses, but time to concentrate on myself, which, will not be easy. I tend to drift away from myself very easily and take on some new challenge. The challenge should just be me. I am really down on myself and sick of wavering around and not sticking to a plan. I will be doing 72 induction, with a candida diet, which will be starting out with the acv and co, and trying to eat to my bmr. There. That's it. Sounds simple, doesn't it? I start out every single day perfectly. Actually almost the whole day is perfect until about 6 pm, then, something happens and I go crazy....trying to figure it out. I'll keep reading and educating myself. Later, ladies.....

I have been doing this for a couple weeks now and it is working wonderfully for me. I had been stalled out for well over a month and since adding 1 tbsp ACV in the am and at bedtime i have lost 5 pounds in 2 weeks. I havent changed anything else in my diet at all. I am thrilled.
I do think it tastes nasty so my method is put it in a shot glass and gulp it while holding my nose and chasing it with a big glass of iced tea. Makes my ears pop(the swallowing while holding my nose thing), but at least i dont taste it.

Hello to all - isn't it interesting all the ways we're coming up with to put our ACV into our bodies....jenni- really interesting how it's helping you already...I have been using it a few weeks with co...but, I have an eating disorder, binges, cravings, etc. and starting totally over today. Even weighed my self which I haven't done it quite a while. Didn't want to face the scale. I will be accountable to myself ..too much stresses in my life, but reading the book the diet cure, and trying to take advice there. Also, reading 72 Atkins. I have a goal to get some weight off by 12/12/ when I go to Florida to visit my daughter.
Anyway, everyone have a really good day, and I am off to the calendar to set my goals and record/journal...later, ladies.

Jane, completely understand about the carb binges and cravings and the Stress. I could drink the whole bottle of ACV, CO, and pray and still find the carbs in this house. Last night I was on the prowl, frozen cookies, frozen muffins and pizza and washed it down with wonderful ACV drink and a spoonfull of CO. This morning, at 9AM there is a Yoga class in our club house and I am trying to decide whether or not to go!!

What's wrong with Me???

Well.. I'm intrigued by this. I'm the one who drinks lemon juice straight from the bottle and vinegar straight from the pickle jar. I love all things sour, pickles, pickled eggs, peppercinis, etc... I currently dowse my salads with red wine vinegar. So this looks like just the thing for me!

I've not had time to read this entire lengthy thread yet, but I've already gone to the Bragg website and ordered the Apple Cider Vinegar/Vinegar Book combo. In themeantime, I'll look around here and see if I can find raw vinegar in a store.

Can't wait to learn more about this!

Maria
