I have a small gardent too. It happened by accident when my compost pile started to grow!!! they ended up being zucchini's and mexican squash. I got three of the white squash and 4 of the zucchini. THey were HUGE!! I still have to eat them...they're in the refrig..but i got ALOT of plant and flowers..i was disappointed a little that we only got a few. My peach tree however is LOADED!!!!!! They're tiny but they are good!!! Since i started induction monday i can't eat them yet but i am goin to pick them and put them in the freezer to use later. In the fall i am turning about 1/4 of my yard in to a garden. We also have mulberries. I'd like to plant a fig tree as well.
OH and I forgot about my grape plants.....2more years and i should be gettin some grapes!!

Sweetness!!!!
Lucky, you oughtt get some of that freezer jam stuff and make peach preserve with it. you could make it sugar free and have it later. I feel your fruity pain, I'm sorta sliding my way down into a dirty induction, which means I'm not really counting carbs just keeping lower than usual. And I keep wanting my SF Jam. I keep thinking about Sherilee Waffles, Waahhh!!! ![]() I don't even LIKE waffles all that much but I like SF Jam. I have a recipe where you pan fry pork chops in butter and then add chives and apricot preserves to the skillet. It's so fancy tasting.

Luki - I had grapes. . .lots and lots of grapes. I got the plants from my uncle's plants. I moved, and the new owners would not let me take slips.
They made the best jelly in the world!Metqa - That same uncle I mentioned to Luki had moon vines. They were amazing. I could smell them all the way inside his house, big huge plants with flowers that seemed to glow in the dark. Mine were always sad-looking, but boy, oh boy, can I grow some morning glories. They look nice, just not wrapped around my vegetables!! Good luck! |

Lucki....The shirt idea is really cool! I'll bring you one. Mulberry Trees. Ahhhhh...the town tree! We had a really big one growing in our front yard that my friends and i used to climb all the time. The good thing is it was a male. The fruit bearing trees would make such a mess!

You know....I've never seen a white mulberry! The ones that I remember were dark red or purple. There was one in the playground at my elementary school. So many detentions were given out to "artistic" kids becuz of the tempting nature to "paint" all over the building with those plump, juicey things!
So we begin early with the memories! <<<sighs>>> |

Howdy peeps! Haven't posted here in forever but read the thread daily to keep up with you guys! I stopped taking the combo for awhile and now I am going to start taking it again. I ran across some interesting information written by Dr. Nicholas Perricone concerning CLA. Here's an excerpt from the article:
SUPERSTAR SUPPLEMENT #6: CONJUGATED LINOLEIC ACID (CLA) CLA is a fatty acid that is found in many of the foods we eat. At one time, beef and lamb were exceptional sources; however, when their diet was changed from grass to grain, levels of CLA dramatically decreased in meat and dairy products. When CLA is present, it is found in the fatty portion of milk. Drinking skim milk prevents us from receiving the benefits of CLA. However, since CLA levels are now so low in animal products, skim vs. full-fat milk is a moot point. When taken in effective doses, CLA decreases body fat, especially in the area of the abdomen. There are several mechanisms of CLA’s activity that accomplish these feats: CLA actually concentrates in the cell membrane, stabilizing it and thus preventing the breakdown of arachidonic acid into a pro-inflammatory prostaglandin. It helps the insulin receptors remain intact, thus increasing insulin sensitivity, which will then decrease blood sugar and circulating insulin levels. Remarkably, studies show that CLA also helps block the absorption of fat and sugar into fat cells (adipocytes). It even induces a reduction in the actual size of the fat cells (one reason people gain weight as they age is that their fat cells literally become fatter). CLA Tips When taken with sesame seeds, the effects of CLA are enhanced. The average diet provides no more than a gram (1000 mg) of CLA per day. CLA may be taken with meals. DOSAGE RECOMMENDATION: 1000 mg, up to a maximum of 4000 mg per day, taken in one or two doses. The entire article is here: Le Magazine, November 2005 - Cover Story: The Perricone Weight Loss Program My question is, how come I've never heard that sesame seeds inhances the effect of the CLA? If this the only info out there that refers to sesame seeds?

HA! I eat sesame seeds all the time! YAHOO!
Hey Lucki- the Jam stuff is called : Ball Simple Creations No Cook Freezer Jam Fruit Pectin. I found it in the section where the canning jars are kept. I've never tried it myself, but I got lots of positive comments from people who have. It calls for 1-1/2 cups of Splenda Granular, 4 cups of fruit, and makes 5 8oz jars of jam. It says you can refrigerate it for up to 3 weeks or freeze it for up to a year. it makes 45 servings and is 45g weight. 1g is in one serving of jam, so it ads 1g of carbs and 10mg of sodium and less than a gram of protein, no fat. ingredients are dextrose, fruit pectin citric acid(assists gel), sodium citrate(controls acidity), potassium sorbate(preservative) I wonder if I have to use the granular for bulk or if I could use my liquid sucrolose instead. I figure since we are using pectin instead of sugar the lack of sugars texture is not an issue? |

Lucki...Well let me see, it's such a hard choice between the Gadsden Hotel and Motel 6.
I was thinking Gadsden but everyone else in my posse is thinking the 6. Something about my choice in hotel being too old! I don't care. I still have an auntie who lives there and would want me to stay at her house but I won't impose on her. What choice do you recommend? Hey!...is Rucker Canyon and Cave Creek still open to the public??? We use to go there for picnics and other shananigans! ![]() |

ADLMA - Sorry to hear about your wind storm and the tree falling on your garage. All that and you didn't even get any rain.
As for morning glories, I swear you can't get rid of them. I have been trying to help my MIL get rid of morning glories for years and we even sprayed round-up on them (and that kills everything!) and they still came back. Yes, I'm enjoying spending time with my girls. It is hard to believe that in almost a month from now they will both be gone. |

Good Morning Everyone !!!
I havent been posting much but like others I read and keep up with you guys daily. You are all doing such a great job!! I cant seem to get to onelander for nothing, feel like I am crawling through the desert and can see it, but the more I crawl the farther away it gets. 4-7 pounds to get there depending on what mood my scale is in!!! but on the up side of things, I started taking acetyl-L-Carnitine about 3 weeks ago, dont know if it had anything to do with what happened last night or not. My DIL manages "The Limited" store in our mall. She was having a sale and wanted me to come in and try their jeans. I told her that I didnt think they would work. I had bought one pair of 14 at Cato's but thats a little differnt line than what Limited carries. I went in to the store anyway making up my mind that if they didnt fit or if they were just a little tight I would buy them for my next goal pair. So i go into the dressing room, tried the 14 and they didnt work !!!! I had to get a 12 !!!! I was so thrilled, surprised and excited!!! I know they say you can loose with out the scale moving but I never in my wildest dreams thought that the 14 would work little lone the 12!!!! So I got 2 jeans and one pair of walking shorts that would have cost me $210 regular but once the sale pricing was applied my total came to less then $35 !!! made the night even sweeter. Sorry this is so long but I just had to tell people that would understand where I am coming from !!!!!!! Chic- how much of the acetyl are you taking a day ? are you still taking the cla and gla with it ? Thanks in advance !!!! Take care all - Heading to onelander one way or the other !!! Paula

PAULA YOU RAWK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WTG!!!! WOOHOO!!!! AWESOME!!!!!
![]() Keep at it girl......when the scale is away the tape measure will play!!!!! Chic - i checked with our curves today....she said you had to get the pass from your curves and that she will put whatever workouts you do and then your curves will record it for you. Don't forget to get one!!!! i'm sooooo excited!!!! My workout today was good. She changed the machines around so it was like all brand new. I did pretty good. I was able to increase on my repeat circuit instead of decrease. It was still hard......but i did it!!!! |

MMof2 - Thanks for the concern. OK. My next attempt at murdering the glories is to douce them down first thing in the A.M. with vinegar. Sorry, but it is time for serious measures! They are dominating my cucs!!!! In fact, it is tricky to know cucs from those glories!!! Time for them to go. They have soooo out stayed their welcome. What bewilders me is I see in seed books those silly seeds for sale. Woe be to that person who plants them!
Chic - Thanks! God blessed us. The garage supported the entire weight of the huge tree. No cars were damaged. Only need a new roof! Woooohooooo! Girl, enjoy your trip! How exiting! Paular - MG says to take 2 750 mgs of Acetyl-L Carnitine a day. One with breakfast meal, one with lunch. On an empty stomach my cause upset. Taking too late in the day may cause restless nights. She says to make very sure it is Acetyl-L Carnitine. (If I'm all wrong, sorry MG for quoting ya!) MG - Where are ya girly-gurl?? I miiiiiissssss yooooooooou! |

I got some wild morning glory seeds and planted them on my garden trellis. After they flower, they go to seed and drop them everywhere. This year there are Morning Glories in the tomatoes, the hosta, and some in the ground around the pots. Last year one grew up a cord onto the second story balcony and covered half of the metal balcony fence before winter. It was supposed to be my evil plan to drop a bunch of seeds when I moved out to grow all over, but the Morning Glory has preempted my idea and moved the take over date up. So I planted some moonvines to keep them company in their new world order. If I can only get the 4 o'clocks in on the action it would be superb!![]() Yeah, they are a bit evil, but the morning hummingbirds like 'em. they would make a great summer privacy fence if you had a trellis. BTW, if you can follow the trail back to the ground, cukes have fuzzy kinda prickly stems, while morning glory stems are smooth and unobnoxious. You could just snip them from the bottom and the whole vine will die. I have handled both stems enought to tell them by touch.Cukes? OUCH! Mornin' Glory - Mmm easy. Mine try to die everyday though, Maybe we should switch plants? Last edited by metqa; 07-18-2008 at 08:27 AM.. |

Paula...I was just taking the recommended dosage on the label. Good luck hope it works for you. I feel like it's helped me.
![]() Lucki....I'm so proud of you girl. Sounds like u are kickin butt on your workout routines!!!! Wooohoooo! Uhm, I don't belong to Curves because I have a 24 Hour Fitness gym two blocks away. Was just wondering if they would allow a guest pass or something. I do know and understand that most places want you to live within 10 miles of the place before you can get one. It's okay, thanks for asking! ![]() ADLMA....Thanks and I'm glad everything is ok. Hope everyone has a great day! ![]()

Paula - Congrats on the smaller jeans! I know that must feel good and you were probably
I'm exactly where you are right now...still waiting for onederland and the dang scale varies from 5-7 pounds away for me. I shouldn't complain though as I lost 8 pounds in the month of June. I so want to be in onderland again. ADLMA - I think I would do was Metqa mentioned and at least snip the morning glories from the bottom so the rest dies off. I'd be afraid that the vinegar would hurt the cukes. (I don't know if vinegar will harm the cukes, just saying that it may.) Speaking of cukes, I got my first cucumber this week. I have lots of flowers and a couple tiny ones about 2 inches long that will probably be ready in a week or two. I was taking the L-Carnitine (500 mg.), not acetyl, because that is what I already had. I was taking 1 or 2 tablets a day, when I would remember, for a couple weeks in June. I wonder if it had anything to do with my weight loss. ![]() Have a good day everyone. I'm heading out to the pool now, as it is supposed to be 93 degrees and humid today.

Welcome (back) Got2luv Ya!
sorry I couldnt' help adding the "ya" Wow, Chic , If we had a 24H gym around here, I know my BF would be in awesome shape, he complains that none stay open for late nighters. BTW vinegar WILL hurt cukes and any other living plants. Be careful with it. But if ya want to do something dangerous and cool, Take your pyrex measuring cup and freeze some vinegar solid. Then let it melt on the counter and pour off the first half of what melts. What that first half of liquid is is concentrated vinegar! As the rest melts the water starts to melt more and more and the rest will be really diluted. You can take this concentrated vinegar and paint it on the leaves on a sunny day and it will die faster. Too much work to kill a plant but fun to make. I keep some for household scary stuff cleaning. Last edited by metqa; 07-18-2008 at 08:14 PM.. |

WOW! I missed about half of this page!!!!
Metqa - thanks for the tip on the pectin..i will look for it. the kids picked most of the peaches tonight. they are still firm so i think i have a few days to find it. I wish i wasn't on induction!!! Chic - Motel 6, Gadsden, Travel Lodge.........Motel 6 would be the most modern but i don't like it's an outside entrance nor do i like the round showers!!!! Gadsden is good if you like old.....they gave it facelift last year but the rooms are still a bit antiquated. We've stayed there tho. Travel Lodge is down A Ave from where we are but i am not sure how good it is. We're supposed to be getting a Best Western but i am sure it won't be done by the time you get here!! It's a coin flip really. There's always Bisbee. Rucker Canyon is still open, that's where we went camping for mothers day. It is GORGEOUS and you wouldn't have to twist my arm to go out there either. I don't know about Cave Creek, never been there. Might be fun tho....how long you gonna be here for?? |

Morning hotties!
273 this morning. Lowest I have been in 3.5 years or so. I spent so long in the 280's fighting this battle and now here I am looking the 260's in the face. My mind just drew a blank and I drifted off thinking about weight loss and my roller coster ride I've been on. The first thing that came to mind is that I am only 33 pounds from where I want to be. 23 pounds from 250. 250 will be a big thing for me. Gotta go. Hope you all have a great weekend! Phil
