Is it Thanksgiving already???

The pic below is of my oldest girlfriend from elementary school and myself getting ready to run our race together. She runs these things all the time and some how talked me into running with her. I have to say it's a great feeling of accomplishment getting thru it even though it was only a 5K. My finish time was 30 minutes. Not the greatest but not bad either!

Just crossed the finish line and I'm about ready to pass out here!!! Gotta get in better cardiovascular shape for the next one....if I do a next one! All in all, it was fun!

What she said.

Most of my supplements are easy to swallow gel caps. Only the vitamins are these hard green tablets but at least they are coated.

Thanks you guys!!! Now the key for me is to KEEP IT UP and not fall back to old habits!!! I've already consumed WAY too many beers this weekend from all the post race festivities.

Lora....OMGosh, that is a gurney! LOL

I am new to this and have a question.....

I now have my bottle of Barage Oil...and I had a bottle of ALA (alpha lipoic acid) that I had been taking for about a week (good for diabetics)...I was thinking that was CLA....is it different?

ALA is beneficial, in it's own right, but it is definitely different than CLA. I like to look up articles on bodybuilding.com when reading up on a supplement I'm not totally familiar with.

Thank you guys also, Mikki, Denise & Trisha! Getting into running (((or any kind of exercise really))) is like cleaning your house after a wild party. You look around and think there is no way I can do this or get this place clean again. But when you start and notice the place looking better little by little, you just keep going until it's done.

Hiya Bill,

May I ask you some questions about your supplement routine?

Did you assemble these on your own, or by some professional advice?

Also, why do you take this:
Quote:
--260g activated charcoal
with your supplements?

Did you know that activated charcoal will ABSORB whatever you take it with? It is used to ABSORB poisons so they will not be assimilated into the body. So, if you take charcoal with other supplements, you are not getting the full potency of anything. With all that $$ on supplements, you want to make sure you get the most bang for your buck.

You may want to consider only taking charcoal alone and on an empty tummy. It works well for nausea and flatulence and to lower cholesterol, but I wonder why you are taking it and what you hope to gain from it? You may want to read up on it and see if you need it daily and if so, you may wish to take it when it won't absorb your other supplements.

Quote:
Activated Charcoal | Herbal Remedies, Supplements | PDRHealth

Activated Charcoal

What is it?
Activated Charcoal is a supplement used when accidental poisonings have occurred. The charcoal helps absorb the poison and carry it out of the body. It is also used to treat high cholesterol, diarrhea, upset stomach, and gas.

Other names for Activated Charcoal include: Active Carbon, Adsorbent Charcoal, Carbo Activatus, Carbon Active, Carbon Attivo, Decolorising Charcoal, and Medicinal Charcoal.

Ask your doctor, nurse, or pharmacist if you need more information about this medicine or if any information in this leaflet concerns you.

Before Using:
Tell your doctor if you

* are taking medicine or are allergic to any medicine (prescription or over-the-counter (OTC) or dietary supplement)
* are pregnant or plan to become pregnant while using this medicine
* are breastfeeding
* have any other health problems, such as high blood pressure or heart or blood vessel disease

Dosage:
Talk with your caregiver about how much Activated Charcoal you should take. The amount depends on the strength of the medicine and the reason you are taking Activated Charcoal. If you are using this medicine without instructions from your caregiver, follow the directions on the medicine bottle. Do not take more medicine or take it more often than the directions tell you to.

To store this medicine:
Keep all medicine locked up and away from children. Store medicine away from heat and direct light. Do not store your medicine in the bathroom, near the kitchen sink, or in other damp places. Heat or moisture may cause the medicine to break down and not work the way it should work. Throw away medicine that is out of date or that you do not need. Never share your medicine with others.

Drug and Food Interactions:
Since Charcoal has such a strong ability to absorb material, it may cause problems with any medicine you may be taking by reducing how much gets absorbed by your body. This has the potential to be life threatening. If you are taking any drugs, check with your health care giver before taking Activated Charcoal. The following have been studied and are not well absorbed when taken with Charcoal:

* Acarbose
* Carbamazepine (Tegretol(R))
* Digoxin (Lanoxin(R))
* Furosemide (Lasix(R))
* Leflunomide
* Miglitol (Glyset(R))
* Olanzapine (Zyprexa(R))

Warnings:

* Before taking Activated Charcoal, tell your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding

Side Effects:
Stop taking your medicine right away and talk to your doctor if you have any of the following side effects. Your medicine may be causing these symptoms which may mean you are allergic to it.

* Breathing problems or tightness in your throat or chest
* Chest pain
* Skin hives, rash, or itchy or swollen skin

Other Side Effects:
You may have the following side effects, but this medicine may also cause other side effects. Tell your doctor if you have side effects that you think are caused by this medicine.

* Dark stools (BMs) (16,17,18)
* Upset stomach (16,17,18)
* Throwing up (16,17,18)

Trisha...that is a good question that I would ask someone who knows more about running and foot issues than I do. Sorry I can't help you with that one but I can say of course I believe you were in track!!! The excessive weighty people we have become is not who we are! You are still that person you remember back in track....you have only misplaced her within yourself. Find her!
