They say Sunflower or Sesame are the best... But in reading around, people have done it with different oils and seem to have had success..

Somewhere {sorry I don't remember where} I read someone used different oils and experienced different things from each... If I find that again, I will post it...

For me, the trick is to keep the swishing up front as much as possible. My gag or swallow reflex allows me to swish, but only up front. I keep a spit jar handy just in case I cannot make the full 20mins by the clock. Have to time this, as it seems to take HOURS for those 20mins to tick by. Each time I think time is up, the clock shows that just another minute has passed. AGHHHH!

Does it get easier? Maybe. Meanwhile, I'm doing the best I can to see if I can whiten my awful teeth. Love the idea of losing plaque, if that happens too!

I keep seeing everyone say their teeth was whiter. Does anyone have an explanation how oil can make your teeth whiter? I just don't understand this part, what is going on that can whiten up your teeth?

I think you would have a much better chance of knocking out a filling by eating something hard than by doing this. I don't know how you could even do that just by swishing and sucking oil around in your mouth.

I satarted doing this once a day on Tuesday. Was using CO. I THINK my teeth look whiter, not sure. I just got some expeller pressed refined sunflower oil(hope this is the right stuff) and am going to try that instead.

For me personally the sunflower is much easier to handle. I did actually gag a few times on the CO. I used the sunflower last night and have it in right now and haven't had that problem.

I just wanted to say that I started doing this when i read that the rough skin on your feet would disappear as a result of oil pulling. I have never been able to get rid of my rough patches on my feet - but after three days of pulling with CO - my feet really do feel softer! I don't understand why that is...but it seems to be working!

PS: I've been lurking on this site for a long time, I love reading everyone's experiences and observations! thank you!

I'd also like to know if anyone thinks that one is more effective than the other. I'm using the EVCO and I really don't feel like I'm getting anything out of it.

Jen I am no expert. I went with Sunflower oil because that was one of the 2 that were rec'd as the best. Many people use many different ones... I'd say if you don't think you're getting the benefits, try another oil.....

That's what I'd do anyway...

Hi Lisa, welcome.. We're so happy you came out of hiding.. Cool that you've noticed a difference on your feet... Keep posting and letting us know how it's going for you..

OK, where's everyone else????? Tooter, Cheryl.. anyone...

*waving* I'm here!! The biggest difference I notice is with the CO and Castor Oil (I ran out of that a long time ago and need to get more). I just wondered if I should get the sunflower. I know that it's one of the most rec'd oils...Just don't know if I should buy it.

Tooter, I haven't tried anything but Sunflower oil, with the exception of my very first time, I wanted to do THEN, and all I had was EVOO..

I hate coconut, and tried to use it in coffee.. I have Caster oil, for OCM. The thought of using it, just makes me ill...LOL You have really seen a difference with it? OK, sorry, I know you aren't fibbing..

But really, it won't kill me if I do try it?? The sunflower oil is pretty light, and I like that.. Thick, I just don't know about...

I've been reading around the web and read that some people notice different things with different oils. I still haven't located where I was reading that... {I really need a special notebook to keep track of things I read}

I won't kid ya, it tastes like Motor oil! *shiver* But I did she a huge difference in teeth whitening and other things. It takes some time to get used to it. If you had problems with the CO, I wouldn't try the Castor Oil. lol

I'm like you, I need to take notes and keep track of what and where I read something. lol

OK, that's it.. I will not be trying Castor Oil... I'm all about taste and texture, so motor oil wouldn't cut it...

For me, I've been very happy with the Sunflower oil.. <~You need sunglasses my teeth are so white and bright... {OK, maybe not quite, but they are getting there!}

I've been lurking around this thread for a few days, & today I decided to give oil pulling a try... I used CO, just 'cause that's what I have... I also waited 'til almost noon to do it, since first thing in the morning, even the thought that it MIGHT make me vomit is sure to make me gag... anyway, it wasn't bad... I lasted only 5 minutes, kept wanting to swallow even though I kept my head down to keep the oil from running back to my throat...

I'm looking forward to seeing what benefits I get from oil pulling... has anybody seen an effect on sinus problems since starting this?..

When I was in the health food store I asked the owner (of two big stores) which oil was better and she said definitely the CO. That is what I've been using. She said that the mouth membranes will absorb the good qualities of the oil. I can't believe how it has helped me - not only my teeth and gums but the heels of my feet. No more cracks. I checked my gums in a 10x magnifying mirror and they are actually more plump in the front and between my bottom teeth. They looks so healthy. I also have to thread floss between two teeth and it goes in so much easier now. I'm not stabbing my gums with that little threader. I am a firm believer in OP.

No fillings or crowns have loosened or fallen out. In fact my teeth feel more anchored. I have absolutely NO stains on my teeth. I have no idea how or why my teeth are so white - but I'm not complaining.

Cool Cheryl.. I'm just going by what is written by, who I think is the 'inventor' of the process, andalso what's posted around the web in all the articles, as to which oil is better.. I've also read, and posted, people are all trying different oils and having benefits and finding different things happen, with different ones.. It's just a matter of what you happen to like the best and feel is working best for you... Don't you think?

I wish I did like coconut, but I don't.. There seems to be several benefits to using it in one way or another...

My teeth are so much whiter after just about 2 1/2 weeks.. I still have a little bit to go, to get where I want them.. But dang, the things that are happening is amazing.. Oh and my elbow is all but not, dry and icky anymore!

Oh and no, no fillings have come out for me.. I've read that a couple times, but I can't, IMO, see how it could happen, unless you had pretty loose fillings in the first place.. It's not that much suction, is that the right word? being used in your pulling... This is just my opinion, tho...

Kiki, thanks for the nice welcome... today was my third day of oil pulling, used CO... I started with 5 minutes & increased a minute yesterday & another one today... won't be long before I'm up to 20 minutes... .. so far, I don't see any results, but I'm gonna hang in there... 3 days isn't really enough to tell what's gonna happen...

I hope everybody had a nice Presidents' Day!!!..

You know what would be great is if we could have input - who is using what oil and what benefit they've experienced. Then we can compare. I will start it by stating what I've experienced. Then we can members just quote my post - and add to the bottom of mine. How about that?

By the way - good morning everyone!

I'm using the CO - Barleans cold pressed (no coconut taste at all) and I've noticed my teeth are very white, no cig./coffee stain at all and my gums are plumping up especially around my lower teeth. My heels are not cracked and are very smooth.
