Okay after reading this thread I dug out my coconut oil, grabbed a chunk and went to town. It really wasn't bad at all, didn't make me
(of course I like coconut oil) and my teeth really do feel nice. I figured it'd come out all black and gross with big chunks of stuff in it, but it was just white when I spit it out...lol. It did have a couple of tiny white specks, but I just figured that was coconut, hehehe. It does feel very nice though! |

I used CO and didn't notice any difference in the whiteness of my teeth. I "pulled" for 15 minutes and was soooo glad to brush my teeth afterward. I have a sinus infection and am calling the doc today and thought this might help. I will give it another go. When I spit it I didn't have much come out with the oil.

After I oil pull, I use q-tips in my ears, the netti pot for my nose, then I do the total colon cleanse. I feel clean as clean as a whistle.

Lisabinil - You should try a netti pot for that sinus infection. I thought my FIL was insane when he recommended one for me last time I was stuffed up - but they do wonders! Natural and homeopathic and it works. Add a drop of tea tree oil to the saline water to really soothe your sinuses.
Okay, now back to topic -- I tried the CO oil pulling last night. I don't know about it getting toxins out, but I'm always up for anything that will make my mouth and teeth healthier and whiter, so I gave it a shot. Didn't make me gag, as long as I didn't focus on it. I think I'll be sure to floss first next time as I found it hard to pull through my teeth. My tongue got a workout. I can't say I noticed a lot from it, though the flesh in my mouth does feel better. My mouth was all sore from eating lots of sunflower seeds to keep me awake on a loooong late night car trip Sunday (best way to stay awake driving EVER!). But it does feel better today. Maybe my teeth are shinier, I dunno. I'll keep at it for a while though and see how it really goes. |

I have wondered what "oil pulling" was! I am so intrigued; it sounds so beneficial. I am already taking CO in my coffee each morning, so I am going to try it for my teeth, etc. I currently mix water and peroxide in my mouth and swish it around each morning, but this sounds more beneficial.
I am also interested in the tooth soap. What is it, and where do you buy it? Thanks for all the info! |

Tooth soap
I too was curious about tooth soap. I've got some liquid peppermint flavor soap that I'm sure would work. It's Dr.Bronner's brand, a hemp soap. Hemp. Yeah, as in marijuana, I guess. Happy soap!!! >wink<
http://www.dld123.com/q&a/index.php?cid=774 suggests some ways to scrub teeth with soap that is free of toxic elements and probably tastes good too. Yes, this board offers an amazing array of info! |

So I've read this whole thread and I want to make sure I understand oil pulling.
How much do you use? Once it is in your mouth do you suck it through your teeth and if so, how? You do this for a whole 20 minutes without swallowing? Is that possible? The whole losing my filling thing has me a little scared because I have several fillings and very bad dental insurance... is there anything in writing about this happening and has it ever happened to anyone here? Thanks! |

Thanks for this info. I was mistaken. You are correct, that hemp is NOT at all the same as marijuana, and there is a popular confusion on this matter. Too bad for those who might benefit from production of hemp. What gives? So I can use my Dr.Bronner's liquid soap without feeling like a naughty girl. Sigh.

I'm using Kroger brand Sunflower Oil and haven't had any adverse reactions. Is this okay? I notice my teeth are whiter and my gums and tongue are very pink and healthy!

I plan to start this today. I just wondered how all of you learning about oil pulling. I had never heard of it until I joined this board about 7 months ago.
How does it make your skin soft and help the rough skin on the heels? You don't swallow the oil (although I do take the CO in my coffee every morning) so I just wondered how that worked. Thanks for all the help from everyone. This has been a great thread! |

I'm doing it now! It's not bad at all! I've only been pulling for about 5 mins., but I don't find it repulsive at all! Since I was already taking the CO, maybe that helped.

I am trying this now. I know I will not make it 20 minutes this time. It isn;t gross at all but app my mouth keeps making too much saliva. Hopefully I'll get better at this as I keep trying.

What spooks me about the 20mins is how afraid I am that I'll just SWALLOW it, as my swallow reflex is so fast that I find myself swallowing food almost before it's properly chewed. That's why I stopped drinking with meals, to force me to chew and create enough saliva to aid digestion. With water at hand, I was just washing unchewed food down my gullet. So, a mouthful of warm oil+saliva is a trigger - and I keep a spitjar handy so I can spit if I get an urge to swallow.
Old habits die hard. I'm so excited at the prospect of white teeth! I had given up all hope of ever smiling without horrifying folks with my 'rat-teeth' gone so dingy and all. Sigh.
