Oil Pulling -- I have questions on it too!

It sounds wonderful and a friend dropped by who is in her 60's with really white teeth. I thought they were dentures! she has been doing oil pulling and said it made her teeth white. My question is that all the threads say it pulls toxins from your bloodstream. how is that possible from just swishing in your mouth? How does that connect with your bloodstream. anyone know?

I wondered the same thing. The gal at a health food store said it works through the membranes in your mouth. All I know is it works.

As an update to all my friends - Jeff had a feeding tube put in last Friday as he was down to 103#. Since feeding him through the tube he's now up to 115# in just a few days.

He had his first chemo yesterday and he said this morning he actually felt better. He gets chemo for 6 weeks - once a week and radiation 5 days a week for 6-7 weeks.

We are going to hire a malpractice attorney to go after the hospital and radiologists that read all his MRI's wrong since March. A good portion of his suffering and nerve damage could have been avoided if they diagnosed this tumor back in March. The radiation doc said he doubts if his nerves that control the facial muscles will return. This is truly unbelievable! The Oncologist said if he doesn't take the chemo/radiation he would only have 1.5 months to live. Needless to say he's going to have the treatments. With the treatments he has a 20-40% success rate. I'm going for 75% success rate. Miracles DO happen.

Thank you all for your prayers....

Love to all of you dear sweet friends.

Oh, Cheryl!!!!!! Yes, Miracles DO happen. I have had one in my own life, with one of my Sons.

Prayers, Good thoughts and Love being sent your way.

Oh, Cheryl...I wanted to share something with you. A girlfriend of mine was diagnosed with Liver cancer when she was 17 years old. Even with Chemo, the Doctor gave her less then a 5% chance she would be alive in a year.

Guess what? She just had her 52nd birthday!!!

I'm Oil Pulling for my first time right now... using EVOO. Been swishing it around in my mouth for about 10 minutes so far and already accidentally swallowed some. No gag reflexes so far though (I just ate about an hour ago), so that's good!

I have both EVOO and Castor Oil now so I'm going to do the Oil Washing thing later on today.

Guh, can't wait to spit this stuff out!

EVOO? I have read where that doesn't help people get their teeth white, it can actually stain them, that's why I never "pulled" with EVOO. Castor oil, does whiten your teeth when you pull with it. It does have a strong taste.

Thanks, Tooter.. that's what I've been reading also about EVOO. :/ (I just spit it out after swishing for 15 minutes total. I'm going to see about getting some Coconut, Sunflower or Sesame oil for oil pulling alone and just use the EVOO/Castor oil for oil washing.

Hi Zhack. Welcome to the thread!

I use Sunflower oil. It's very light and not nasty tasting... {I should say when I do it, I use that} I really need to get back to it, but life just has had a way of, well, being life...

Be sure to keep us informed with how it's going!!!

I'd never heard of it before. I googled, and found this article by a skeptic who gives reasons why it can't connect with your bloodstream and draw out toxins.

Is Oil-Pulling a Scam?

She says it probably does improve dental hygiene, but not because it's drawing anything out of the teeth or gums.

Hi Doug.. I think that link, or something similar has been posted. Here, or in other threads around here..

Ya know, I've always wondered how it could do it too.. But.... I never gave it enough time to really think hard about it... I guess I'm not so much doing it for that reason, as hygene and white teeth.. I figured anything else would be a perk! It very well could just be a person believing it's working, so yes, it will work! Placebo effect, if you will...

Or, it could actually work. So many things have been poo-poo'd since the beginning of time, that have turned out to be true/right.

Are you oil pulling?

Thank you all for your inspirational stories. He tolerated the radiation very well yesterday and today is the 2nd session. I can't believe how much more talkative he is today - and more peppy. Don't get me wrong - he's not doing cart wheels but he's more human.

The tube feeding is working great! I have a more positive feeling now as I see him improve after just two sessions. I also think it has a lot to do with the feeding. At least the scale is going in the right direction.

On topic - I agree with RockyMtn. - I don't care about whether toxins are being pulled out of my body - I'm doing it for dental health....

Have a great 4th everyone. My thoughts and prayers are being sent your way.

Cheryl, that is wonderful news!!!

I know the thought of "tube feeding" was scary to you, but see what a difference it makes?!

Tell Jeff to keep up the good work. I'm not letting him "off" of the strip tease he owes Kiki and I!! Tell him to keep gaining so he can fill out that Thong!

I don't know exactly HOW it does it...I don't agree with all the theories, but I do know that it does it. I had a major tooth infection that "Oil pulling" got rid of.

I also have not been sick because I "Oil pull". If I start to get any symptoms...I will increase the amount of Times (Number of times) I oil pull during the day. It seems to nip things in the bud.

Why? I don't know. I just know it works.

Yep, he owes Tooter and I a show, and we WILL hold him to it! If nothing else, that should give him the incentive to get better...

I started doing this yesterday after reading some of the thread. I didn't read thru all 18 pages though to see if it helps with systemic yeast overgrowth. I'm using coconut oil. I didn't have any problems making 20 minutes except my jaws were tired.

Crossing fingers!!!!!

Hi to all my friends.

Well he lost 2# overnight - the laxative finally worked. I sure know how to put weight on myself - but with over 2,000 calories a day I don't know why he's not gaining more weight. Any ideas?

His pain has lessened - but now he's very tired. I think the one chemo and two radiation treatments are making him tired.

Have a very safe and fun 4th everyone. I promise I will get back to OPing. All my favorite things have been pushed to the side....

Love, Me

Chemo....To gain weight.......maybe this will help to know.....

When you need to lose weight, if you remove fat from your diet then it won't be on your body. Fat makes us fat. (I just went through weight watchers and lost 30 pounds and that was how it worked for me) I ate tons of food and lost lots of weight. One to three pounds a week. I have a friend who is super thin. She just eats a low fat diet by choice and can't gain weight. So in order for her to increase her weight, she needed to increase her fat content along with the calories. So she started eating more fat. Choose good fat, like nuts, peanut butter and avocados, etc. Nuts are super high in fat and good for you, too. I pray for your husband. My son is going through chemo now. He has been in the hospital for a year. It is so hard on the families, too. God bless!

He had a feeding tube put in two weeks ago - so there is no way I can get him to eat nuts/etc. I do know that nuts can stall me (I'm trying to lose weight) so it would be a God send if he could have those.

I'll keep your son in my prayers ...... how often does he have chemo? Gosh in the hospital one entire year - that had to be so trying on him and the family.

chemo

He has the chemo treatments every 29 days unless he gets too sick then they wait a couple more weeks to let him recover before zapping him again. We are hoping he pulls out of this but I can see it is wearing him down after all this time. His immune system is shot from the chemo. But his attitude is marvelous and the doctors say it is by no means hopeless. That is encouraging. We have made long range plans for him to come to Utah and visit and go fishing. His sister wants to come here and they want to get a house together as neither are married. So these family things and the future plans keep him going.

No not with those tubes can you give him nuts for sure! Can you talk to the doctor about increasing his calories? I remember when my son had his calories increased because he was losing so much weight with the chemo and he was on tubes at that time.

I wish you all the good luck in the world and it isn't hopeless. No one can tell the outcome except God. Prayers for you and hubby!

My Dentist Visit Yesterday-Skeptics, please read!

Hi Folks,
I've been away for a while from my computer and from LCing, but I HAD to share this story. BTW, I've been oil pulling (sunflower and safflower) for a little over a year.

I went to the dentist yesterday to have my teeth cleaned/checked for the first time in 23 months (long story). I was anxious to see what the hygienist had to say about my dirty teeth.

When she was about through, I asked her to tell me the spots where the plaque was really bad so I'd know where I needed to brush better. She said, "I had to recheck your chart because I couldn't believe it had been almost two years since you'd been in here." And she went on to say that my teeth and gums looked great and she was surprised by the lack of buildup on my teeth.

I KNOW that this is because of the oil pulling. All you skeptics, heed the word!

Everyone, have a great day.

Janice
