I for one think if I can't do it w/ the CO I am not going to do it w/ Sunflower oil because it just seems more oily.

I tried to do a gallbladder flush...epsom salts, olive oil and lemon juice...AS HORRIBLE as the taste of the epsom salts was it was that oil that got me and me throw up EVERY time! I pinched my nose shut, did it in the darka nd could still feel it on my upper lip and that was that!

Even tried a straw but after all those attemps I think it was just in my head that the oil was there.

let us know how you did!

Just strat out slow. Like Cheryl said, start with a teaspoon if you need to, and try to go maybe, 5 minutes... Work your way up.. I think you'll be surprised how short of a time that will take you...

I use sunflower oil, and have never had to oily gaggy feeling...

Hi to all my friends..... I am here once and awhile. They sewed Jeff's left eyelids shut because they weren't closing - and they found a piece of metal in his cornea. They removed that - and sewed it shut. We have to go to the cornea specialist everyother day - 54 miles RT. What happened was the skin on the eye abraided - and without skin you can lose your eye. Thank goodness the skin is growing back - and the faster it grows back the less scar tissue.

It's like a basting stitch - where they can loosen the sutures and reopen his eye to check it - and then they tighten the sutures. This all took place last Friday.

He still hasn't really gained weight - got down to 126# - but he's eating three meals a day but not much.

The pain is subsiding - but his mouth is drooping on the left side and he is still slurring his words. I really think it is Bells Palsy and his GP thinks so too.

The cornea specialists wants copies of his brain scans (MRIs and CTs) and is going to send them to a radiologist he knows for a second opinion. Great idea!

Other than that - he lost weight and I'm having a ball eating chocolate at night because of all the stress.

Yesterday took my car in to repair the AC in my VW and because Jeff has only one eye uncovered I had to walk the streets for 4 hours. It was sooo hot and they are about 1/2 mile from the local Walmart and other stores. I thought I was going to die in the 90 degree heat. Now I have to go back next week for another 3 hour fix. Oh my goodness ---
Then I get home and find the toilet plugged. Got that fixed and after that had to repair a sprinkler head because the grass was dying.

So now aren't you glad you asked?

I'm here and trying to keep my head above water. It will get better and thank goodness I have this site to come to when I need a break.

Oh, Cheryl!!!!!! You do what you have to do, to get through this.

Good things come all at once too. You are way over due, so just "hang in there"!

You both are in my prayers and I am praying for "Wisdom" for the Doctors.

Cheryl, you day sounds like one my typical days! I am so sorry to read about DH and wish you both the best.

I did my first pull this morning. I am so shocked that I could do it. With me it is more mind over matter...if my mind says it is gross...I can't keep it going!

I made it 6 mins and then cheeks hurt! LOL! Someone said you only need to do it until the oil turns white...mine wasn't totally white but some of it was.

HOw often do you pull?

What I love most is running my tongue over my teeth and feeling how smooth they feel and that is w/ only one pull.

So we will see what the "mind" has in store for us tomorrow.

Oh can anyone tell me if if my Co is going to be okay??? I had it by the stove when I was cooking chicken and didn't even think about it. This morning it was liquid...it is getting more solid but have I compromised any of the benefits?

If I need to get a new bottle I will, I would rather do that then risk not getting what I should from it.

Take care and have a GREAT and SAFE weekend!

4gotn1: your CO is ok. It melts down to liquid at temps over 76. The one in my room is almost always liquid cause it says it is 80-82 in there and the fan and ac can't reach where it sits. The kitchen one is on the table and thicker after a round of ac air on it.

I have to admit I didn't OP this morning.

Husband had a GP appointment and now he weighs 118# The doctor is not happy and gave him some Rx to increase his appetite and said that if he doesn't gain weight he will have to put in a pectoral feeding tube. He also is ordering a swallowing test at the hospital.

Then off to the cornea specialist .... coming along great.

Got home and listened to my answering machine and low and behold it was my mother - and she was outside and fell. Broke her right wrist and big laceration on her eyebrow. So off I go to her villa - called 911, etc. I was back up there to pick her up - I didn't get home till close to 11PM.

: dunno:

Update: Oil pulled this morning

Mother fell Saturday night at her villa - got a medical alert call at 1:30AM. Brought her back to my house. On Sunday she passed out around noon. I immediately called 911 and she is not in a hospital. After being there for a few days they are transferring her to Life Care Rehab and then will make a determination of what type of assistance she needs. There is no way she can live alone .... and I'm not a trained professional and my back can't take lifting her off the floor when she falls. I think she knows in the back of her mind that living independently is not in the cards for her.

My brother who lives in England but also has a home in Alabama called and said next June he would be willing to build and sitting room/bedroom/bath = first floor and have her move up there. He has lived internationally for the last 40 years and I believe he wants to take on some responsibility. That was music to my ears.

I've done my share of crying the last few days ---- but I am just going to release control. I finally slept well last night.

Now I have to turn my attention to my 199# husband. He's eating so much better and is scheduled for a swallowing test.

Have a great week everyone and keep OPing.....

Cheryl, you are being put thru the wringer right now. I am so very sorry that you are now having to deal with your Mothers health... I'm very happy to hear your brother is willing to help! You have so much going on right now, you are doing the right thing by letting go of what you can't control...

You guys are the BEST!

Heard from Jeff's GP and guess what..... the radiologists read the scan wrong. Thank God his eye doctor's requested his scans because they were also not going to take "we don't know what it is" attitude - or "oh you just have Bells Palsy". They took the 9 scans to a friend of theirs that is a radiologist. He looked at them as a courtsey and called them. They in turn called his GP yesterday who in turn called us last night. He has a tumor at the base of the skull around the hair line in the back of the neck. That is why he's been having neck pain. The GP is really angry and is now questioning the rest of his patients' scans that are being read by the hospital radiologists.

His GP is now going to get him into Moffit Cancer Center in Tampa to see a Neuro-surgeon. I'm sooooo pissed I feel like going into his past neurologist and let him have it in front of all his waiting patients. Jeff told me to not "tip my hand" - typical of an attorney. All along something could have been done for his neck/nerve pain and not being able to swallow or close his eye.

Believe me I'm sure when the GP made rounds up at the hospital today - he's not going to let this die.

Again - thank you all for your kind words. Thank God for this young married couple that asked for the scans. He has an eye appointment tomorrow afternoon and I am going to buy some flowers to take to them. I owe those people soooo much. This whole thing has been such a nightmare.

My only advice to all of you is if you have any doubts on what doctors are telling you .... get a second set of eyes.

I asked Dr. Linda on Monday why she thought so highly of this radiologist and she said that doctors were telling her that her dad had pancreatic cancer. Her being a doctor said "I don't think so - the symptoms are not compatible". I think another radiologist said the same thing and that he should be started on chemo immediately (he's 90 y/o). To make a long story short she sent the scans over to this great radiologist and he called and said he doesn't have cancer - he has a cyst on his pancreas.... She said he would be dead now if they had done chemo.

Correction from my last entry - Jeff doesn't weigh 199# - that was a typo. He weighs 119#..... Yup that's correct.

Dear GOD Cheryl!!!!:aprayer :

The prayers are continually going up. We've got your back with prayer.

You just do what you have to do for Jeff, and don't forget to take care of yourself.

I wish I lived closer and could come over and help you or just visit with you and give you a shoulder and an ear.

Wow, I'm glad they figured out what was wrong. Now he can start the right path to recovery.

119#!!!! I didn't realize! He weighs practically nothing

thank you for sharing your experiences and teaching us about second opinions.
It all sounds so scary! What's to be done then about the neck tumor?

I hope your Mom is doing better.

~~~~~~~~~~~~
As far as oil pulling, I didn't get any of the wild and wonderful benefits of it and I gradually fell away from doing it. The best I got was clean feeling teeth, and I think I mentioned before where I got the same feeling from swishing water. But I DO like it better with I use sesame with a tad bit of coconut oil. The sesame has a warming senstation that feels weird, while the coconut oil has a cooling sensation that is nice. They cancel each other out and it feels less oily as a result. At least it does for me. Maybe I'll start up again.
Oh sweet Lord Cheryl! Prayers were answered for sure! And they will continue!
Girl, I know what you are saying. .If you still don't feel right or just 'know' something isn't right, go somewhere else!
The GP are surly Heaven sent to you. Thank the Lord they questioned this and went to someone they knew and trusted!!!
I wish I was closer, I'd be right there with Tooter to help you, in what ever way you needed...
I knew that had to be a typo on his weight. Hopefully now, he'll be able to put weight on...
Love and prayers to you and Jeff, and your Mom...
XOXOXO
