Good morning everyone.

I'm glad you figured out what was wrong with the Sesame oil .... and I can understand why you weren't enthusiastic...

Went for the carotid artery scan yesterday afternoon - took one hour. No fainting in the car (I drove), even though he was anxious when I turned onto the blvd. Get results when we go to the neurologist tomorrow afternoon.

Less slurring of words this morning and numbness disappearing a little bit each day.

Thank you for all the support.

OPing while typing.... Now I feel guilty when I miss a day - which happened last week (understandable). Everytime I put the CO in my mouth the phone would ring. Drove me insane but understood that people were just being supportive...

Have a great day everyone!

STAINS!!

OMG, OMG, OMG!!!!! I just want to encourage you to continue with your oil pulling and to stay consistent with it.

I just noticed something today, that "blew me away". On my back molars I had stains near the gum line. You really didn't notice them because they weren't where you could really see them. I was mainly concentrating on whitening my front teeth. I've been very pleased with that.

So, I am oil pulling this morning. I spit, I rinse and then I brush my teeth and rinse again. You know how you do that goofy "smile" to check your teeth? Well, I did that and was so pleased with how white my teeth looked. Then I looked closer. OMG, there is just a tiny speck left on each tooth from those stains. I CAN'T BELIEVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! !!

It does work, but you truly must be consistent.

Thank you EVERYONE for your prayers and kind wishes. He just had his second day of therapy. His smile is slowly returning on the left side - but still needs a straw to drink as the lips are weak on that side. He has to do therapy 3x a day at home and they are all facial exercises. The pain is slowly disappearing so hopefully in the next few weeks I will see the old Jeff.

Today I had to take the battery out of his van (dead) - get it checked and reinstall it. My AC went out in my VW - so put in more coolant. Now mind you - I'm not a mechanic at all.
Needless to say the day is always over and I've just been working on cars....

I wanted to tell you gals that a friend of ours down the street was put on steriods and anti-seizure Rx for two apparent brain tumors they took biopsies on last week. Well they said the tumors are gone so now they are checking the spine.... Well anyway I kept asking his wife if he was driving and she said "oh yes the doctors didn't put any restrictions on him. Well Saturday he didn't see a red light - hit a van going 50 mph - turned that one over, hit another car that had the right away turning in front of him and killed the passenger. OMG for the last few weeks I've had premonitions that something like this would happen and sure enough it did. Our friend survived but had to be cut out of his truck. I just went for a walk last night and sure enough saw a rental car in the driveway for him to use...

I'm so happy all of you are keeping up with the OPing. I only missed 3 days when Jeff was in the hospital. My teeth feel and look so much better. Have any of you had a recent dental visit?

Thank you so much for your prayers. He's doing so much better - but still gets the shooting nerve pains occasionally which is caused the swelling of the 7th nerve in his face (behind his ear). The skin under his eye has retracted and his slurring is disappearing. I'd hate to see what a severe brain stem stroke would be like.

I wonder if there will be a civil action against our neighbor. The insurance company said they have lawyers so don't worry about it.

Hello Everyone

My name is Vicki. I'd posted this on another thread, thinking it was this one. I came across your oil pulling thread about 6 weeks ago. I read the success everyone was having and decided to try it myself. I also did some more research and discovered all of the benefits of oil pulling.

I bought the Safflower oil. I wondered if I could pull the whole 20 minutes and without gagging. I did and there was a noticeable whiteness in my teeth after the first pull. Needless to say, I'm a convert. I do it religiously twice a day. I have allergies and asthma. Those have lessoned considerably, and I also sleep better too.

I'm sorry that I don't remember who started this thread, but I want to thank them and everyone here, for sharing their experiences, the tips, and for keeping the thread going.

Thanks again everyone. Enjoy your Sunday...
~Vicki

Welcome Vicki .... and congrats on your weightloss. Wow - what a transformation.

Where did you buy the safflower? I use the CO - which is kind of expensive.

Great idea to do it twice a day - and here I thought I was a hero doing it once a day.

Be sure and report back after you've gone to the dentist for a cleaning. I had great results - no plaque....

Hi, Vicki!!! I am still amazed at the Oil Pulling. To say I am a "Believer" is an understatement. Just like with changing our way of "eating", taking vitamins and/or Exercising...It takes time to make it a "Habit".
The great thing about "Oil Pulling" is that when you tend to get slack...You truly Notice right away.

It's a real "habit" for me now. I strive to "Pull" at least twice a day. If I start to have syptoms of a cold or anything else, I will "Pull" more then that. So far, I have been able to get rid of any symptoms of being sick with it. That is truly amazing!

I'm so glad you joined us.

Ixtapacheyryl Thanks for the welcome and compliment. Sorry, but I'd meant to say, sunflower oil instead of safflower. I bought it a Jewels, a store chain here in Illinois. They also carried the safflower oil. I didn't get it because it was a little more expensive. I didn't want to spend a lot of money in case it was something that either didn't work or I just gave up on it...lol. I may try the safflower oil next.

I used to take a teaspoon of CO by mouth daily. I stopped it because I couldn't get used the oil, even though I love coconut. It worked better for me if I put it in my foods or drinks.
I will definitely let you know about my next dental cleaning...

Have a great day...

The things you learn on a thread!

I have never, ever, ever heard of oil pulling. (I must get out more!) I am going to try this, it sounds amazing!

Hi to everyone, I'm a returnee of sorts to low carb. I am a 52y.o. married mother of one 24 y.o. daughter. I've lost 100 pounds twice before in my life and now can't seem to get anything to work. Age? In any case, I wanted to reach out to ixtapacheryl as I found your pre-Atkins diet on one of the other threads and started it last Saturday. Going through sugar withdrawal for 24 hours almost killed me, but I made it to the other side. I feel fabulous! No cravings, no hunger, nothing. My question is, how long do you think one can stay on that plan? So far I just love it - it helps of course that I dropped a fast 5 pounds over the weekend.

Keep up the great pulling (or something!)

Melissa

Welcome and congrats on getting back on track. You will also absolutely love OPing.

My doctor told me I could/should stay on it until I lost the weight. Just make sure you are taking a great multi-vitamin/mineral capsule. I know some gals start adding back in carbs after two weeks - but I find I can't control how many I am consuming and I hate to get the headaches back again. I generally have withdrawals for 3 days and they are horrible. Keep me posted....

Thank you so very much Ixtapacheryl for getting back to me. I have been struggling for the last 10 years... enough! I'm really enjoying this food plan, it just works for me... so far, so good! I, like you, have zip control on carbs and going through withdrawal was the worst ever. I was lucky to get it over with in 24 hours, but it's usually much longer for me too. I haven't been this happy in a very long time.

I went to my local Shop Rite but couldn't find coconut oil which I think sounds the least offensive somehow - I will go to my local organic store after work - I'm sure they will have it. It sounds totally gross, totally fascinating, and from the reviews, like it totally works. Wish me luck!

Best wishes to all!

I've been following this thread for months. I have been oil pulling, too, but I haven't gotten any results, unfortunately.

I was curious about the eating plan that was mentioned by mwe320.

Could you tell me where to find the information on this diet? I've never seen it.

Thanks!

Hi!

It's under Weight Loss Plans, then Atkins '72, then it's the first thread - on the first page you will see a post by ixtapacheryl that describes a diet her doctor gave her before Atkins came out.
