No you don't melt it first. Start out using a Tsp. because I found that when I used a Tb. it was too much when you add in the accumulated saliva. I just put my spoon in the CO and scoop it out - so it's probably larger than a tsp.

In the summer your CO will turn liquid depending on how warm it gets where you live.

I'm glad you are noticing a difference. How about your teeth/gums? The health food owner told me that you do absorb some of the oil through the lining of your mouth. I really should start taking a tablespoon or two per day. I do know it helps with constipation.

Hey gals,

I am back in the OP challenge after reading your results. I am going to use organic, virgin coconut oil since I have it and love the taste.

My friend adds a tiny bit of xylitol to her CO for oil pulling. She does this to enhance the taste AND xylitol is recommended for dental problems.

I think I'm gonna try that as well. She mixes up the CO and xylitol in a container and uses it daily from the container.

Hi MG... great to see you here... I just started OP a few days ago, working my way up to 20 minutes... your friend's idea of using xylitol with the CO sounds like a good one... I don't mind the taste of CO, but I'm all for anything that's good for my teeth & gums...

Annie, my CO is solid too... I just put a tsp. in my mouth & chew it a little & it melts pretty fast... no need to melt it first, unless you don't like the feel of the solid...

I'm glad you are back to the oil pulling! It's been two months since having my teeth cleaned and they feel the same way as when I walked out of the dentist office. I have two teeth that are linked together (crowns) so have to use a threader to floss between them daily. Well in the past I would have a problem trying to thread between and now it just slips right through and if I do happen to stab my gum by mistake - no bleeding or soreness. Those threaders are sharp.....

I'm such a nut on getting my teeth cleaned every three months - but at this rate I think I will be able to extend it to 5 or 6 months. The dentist didn't tell me I had to come that often but I'm a fanatic....

Yes, I too googled it and did some reading on the subject of oil pulling. Refined sunflower oil is the recommended oil. Besides that, coconut oil WILL clog drains. For these two reasons, I'll be buying refined sunflower oil.

The sea salt rinse sounds like a great idea! Thanks Diana!

I never really thought about it, but I don't spit the coconut oil (or any of the oils) in the sink or toilet. I spit it into the trash.

What does everyone else do with it?

We live in the woods and have a septic tank, so I don't take ANY chances.

Hi!,

I just wanted to point out that refined oil of any kind is not the healthiest choice for us to ingest, depending upon the refining process.

Even though we spit out the oil used for oil pulling, we do absorb some of it during oil pulling - through the mouth tissues.

I believe the info does not include coconut oil yet, but that it's the best choice because of its medicinal properties.

We have a septic tank as well Tooter and the first few times, I did spit it in the drain. YIKES! That was before I thought about what I was doing.

Now, I spit it in the trash.

Hey 40winks.. Ummm, refined is the 2nd best choice.. I don't know where you read that it was what you should be using, but all sites say cold pressed, UNrefined ... With so much info to retain, on so many things, it's easy to get it all mixed up. .I know this personally...

Just wanted to report that I am now using the CoQ serum at night and the wrinkles around the eye area are noticeably less. Gosh between the Hylastra and CoQ rescue serum - it's amazing. Did you try it yet?

I read about oilpulling on curezone. I tried it for over a month, and then stopped. No reason, just lazy. Dh thought my teeth looked whiter. I liked the fresh feeling it gave my mouth. We have a septic system also and I spit in the garbage. Although maybe all that bacteria would be good for it. ha ha

I was taking a shower this morning and I think I figured out why the oil helps with plaque..... You know the trick to getting off sticky labels on glasses, etc. when you bring them home from the store? They tell you to put oil on the label and it will come off real easy. Well isn't that what we are doing when we OP? It loosens up the sticky plaque - thus easier to brush away.

Today for the first time I OP'd before brushing my teeth. I think I will do that from now on ....

That does make sense Cheryl..

So you noticed a difference in pullingbefore you brushed?

Everything I've read said to do it that way, but it's good that you've done it both ways and prefer it.. Comparrison is good!

Hope everyone has a great weekend!!

Ok Cheryl,

So it's better to OP BEFORE brushing and then brush afterwards?

BTW, do y'all OP once or twice a day?

Everything I've read on OP, saying do it before you brush your teeth, and before you eat.. I've googled oil pulling to death...

It just depends on how my day is going if I get it done more than once...
