Thanks KyCowgirl, Drive safely this evening.
I think, I just order the borage oil next time I'm at Netrition. `````````` It sounds like you raw salad haters need some more gut bacteria. I don't know if this is true (ancient chinese wisdom and all) but I had a lady tell me that foods like kimchi and salt pickles that were fermented were good for you cause the more you eat them, that more of the yeast and bacteria that fermented the food stay in your gut, and you are able to digest veggies better because of it. I dunno, but she was like, AGES, old, so she must have been right on some things. If eating stinky rotted food is not your idea of a good time, enzymes ought to help you.

OK- I just gotta say it. I hate going to military hospitals. The DR. told me to "put a band-aid on it"
![]() Lovely. They told me to put some neosporin and a band aid and come back in a week. I tell ya, that there is some great advice. I coulda done that without draggin my kid around!!! Anyway, I did eat a few pieces of candy while waiting with DS(I didn't prepare for the long wait ) I feel really guilty and wondering where my weight will go Oh, well nothing can be done now. I am having turkey sausages on oopsies tonight for dinner because it sounds good!Back on track with no slips tomorrow. I can't believe I did that ![]() See...not such a good example guys ![]()

Marsha - I'm glad your daughter is wanting food and that she likes your spaghetti squash. I love it when my girls like what I make. It is hard to find something we all will love.
Free - That is crazy! You could have an infection. Hopefully, the neosporin will help, but still. Don't worry about the little blip with the candy. You are back on track now. Kathy. Don't worry girlie, I'm not losing, either. ![]() Metqa - My neighbors make kimchi. I saw it on their porch in glass jars. Well, we are going to drive into MIL's house and shovel her out. I'm counting all this shoveling as exercise. ![]()

Trish - Darn! We checked Wal-Mart last week and they said they got 6 in and were gone. I'm going to have to make sure to check next Tuesday. What time was it when Tom went. I'm wondering if they get their deliveries around the same time. I so want the dance party one, too, if we ever get a Wii. Have fun with it!!!! ![]() |

Evening Y'all!
WOW, lots of great posts! Thanks to everyone who shared anniversary wishes. I am amazed that it's 25 years!! ![]() Chic asked what our secret is? Well, we don't have one except that hubby and I both love Jesus and try to live by the Bible. Many times in our 25 years, if we hadn't had that foundation, we would have split up. But, we trusted G-d to work it out between us and here we are, 25 years and 5 children later! Thank you everyone! Kathy, I love the anniversary picture!! You have SIX kiddoes???? How cool! Freeing: Can you call your surgeon? I'm concerned about you! Trisha: You got the Wii???? How cool! WELCOME RAY'S GIRL!! Welcome!! ![]() Hi to Metqa, Michele, Marsha, Adlma, Tom, Phil, Mikki, Lucki and all you great guys and gals~~~ Tonight is AMERICAN IDOL! Whoo hoooo! |

WELCOME RAY'S GIRL!!!! Always good to have new people join in!
Hello everyone! MG...Happy Anniversary!! Freeing....neosporin and a band aid and come back in a week? He sure wasn't concerened with it was he? I'm suprized he didn't tell you to take a couple asprin with athe neosporin and band-aid. Drink lots of water tonight and see if that will flush your system out from the candy.Chic...Thanks for that stuff you posted about eating carbs after a workout. I have been eating green peas allot. About 20 carbs worth, when I eat them. I was kind of worried about that but I figured that since I like them and I need some veggies anyway, why not. Cardio is in for the night. Cardio wearing my sweat pants, sweat shirt and stocking cap. Lost 1.2 pounds of sweat in 20 minutes! ![]() Question for you all: Whats your thoughts on tattoos? Good. Bad. Don't care. I don't have one. Never wanted one. I think it's a waste of money myself. I do like the ones that women get right above the crack of the ass! They have a name for them but I can't for the life of me think of it.![]() Anyways, whats yer thoughts? I gotta go feed the beast! BBL.

I have 3 and I want one more. I have no issue with tattoos, but I think its all a personal choice like piercings and so forth. Mine are not real visible except the newest on my ankle . |

I've never heard that one before. I'll have to remember that one.Quote:
My wife and I were at the hospital for the birth our youngest son. Her nurse was in the room with us and was asking my wife some questions about herself for the hospital report. She ask if my wife had any birth marks or tattoos or any scars on her body. I responded as fast as I could: "She has my name tattooed on her left breast." You should of seen the eyes of both my wife and the nurse! I thought my wife was going to kill me!!!! Later, the nurse ask me if there was anything I needed. I told her a la-z-boy and a big screen. She said "I wasn't talking to you!" |

LOL Phil!!! You are cracking me the heck up!!! Marsha....learning more and more about you, I think you and I would get along really well in person. I just can't explain it but I know we would. Anyway, I am really weird about tattoos. I wanted to get one a long time ago but felt like it had to be something that really represented me in some way. I just don't have anything that does at the time being and well, never really have except for my belief in Christ but somehow I don't think He would want me to tattoo my body. Now if you wanna talk about belly button piercing....that's another story!
![]() Phil.....Post workout meals ONLY with carbs (and I'm talking like the ones we LCers consider bad carbs as long as we don't eat them with fat), after a workout fuel your muscles. It's the only time your body can use them without storing them. Sound scary? Absolutely! Terrified the heck out of me until I started noticing results. ![]()

Trish-
That is awesome that you found the Wii, I was going to post to you guys today the info I found on chasing one down!! lol , Wal-mart and Game stop do not get Wii's on their regular trucks, they come UPS. Also if you call most stores will tell you they didnt get any cause of the fights they have with them, You have to be in the store. My 2 local stores also get theirs on Tues. somewhere between 10-12. Same with game stop but they get theres any day of the week. Last week it was on friday. Although game stop told me they will hold one but only if noone is in the store at the time to buy it and only for an hour. I talked to the manager at walmart in electronics and she said just be there on tues and see what happens. Hope this helps some of you in your quest for a wii lol Trish- go and rent the Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games you will love it. We just hooked the internet up to ours last week pretty cool stuff actually. Make sure you wear the strap on the controller, the first time I played tennis, I didnt and threw the controller at the wall right above sons head!! LOL I now wear it all the time!! Have a wonderful day !! Will check in later today !!! Paula

Just popping in to introduce myself.
My name is Eileen. I've been reading this cla/gla thread, and am definately going to start this as soon as I get to the store. I'll give you all a bit of background on me.3 years ago I had gastric bypass surgery. I was 290 at day of surgery, and got down to 104 lbs BUT I spent the two years with MAJOR complications. About a year after surgery I started noticing numbing and tingling and many neurological problems. I thought I had MS, and after almost a year of going to two different neurologists, and after TONS of tests, everyone concluded that I had peripheral neuropathy, and nerve damage throughout my body. Ended up on TPN (tube feeding) diagnosed with malnutrional, B1 deficiency (Beri-Beri), and multiple vitamin deficiencies. Was on TPN for 5 months and ended up getting my surgery reversed last June. By that point I was basically bed-ridden. I spent about 5 months after surgery getting off the TPN and getting my energy levels back and getting back into life. I am able to eat now, and if I learned nothing else I did learn how to eat, and that low/carb, high protein does work. So here I am, I did gain and I am 151 as of this morning. While I said all along, I didn't care about the weight I just wanted to feel better, I realize that I do care about the weight and do not want to be back to what I was before. I am left with neuropathy and nerve damage, that is not reversable at this point. I am not what I was three years ago, physically and emotionally. I am a WLS reject, as my friends and I joke. So, I want to lose about 15-20 lbs of what I regained to stay at a healthy weight, and look normal and not like a skeleton. I ended up with scarpenia, which is no muscle mass, as my body was eating my muscle to stay alive during the malnutrion. I have a hard time walking for long periods of time due to the neuropathy, but do have a treadmill that I will use here, until the weather is nicer, and try to begin to build up some stamina on that before heading out. I have a drop foot, and it gets very pronounced when I walk for a long time, and get tired, which I still get tired very easily. So I can't wait to start the combo, I already do low carb, and am baffled at how I regained so fast, my body must have been so malnourished that the doctor said it just held onto to every morsel I ate, for deal life. I am also hypothyroid and am on Levoxyl. I do have protein shakes, and begin my day with that, and will work well with taking the combo, and not feeling icky as I have read. You all seem like a great bunch, and I am soooo looking forward to making some new freinds here. I used to frequent a Bariatric eating message board, and although they are great, I just don't feel I belong anymore. I was flailing as I couldn't find my place in the world...hoping this is it. I have slews of great recipes from over there, all low carb, as that is the bariatric weigh of life. Lots of yummy desserts, and dinners. I am going to make some Cleo rolls soon, as I do love to bake and cook. I am going to spend my snowed in day today, making some fudge and chocolate things for the people at the office. My DD is also insulin resistant and I try to keep her low carb/high protein as well. She does well with that diet. Thanks for letting me ramble. |

Good morning.
Thanks, Paula, for that information on the Wii and deliveries, etc. I may have to put on my calendar to be at Wal-Mart next Tuesday. ![]() Phil - I don't have an tattoos and don't want any. I don't care if other people have them, as it is a personal choice. Your hospital story was funny. ![]() Chic - My youngest DD got her belly button pierced on her 18th birthday, but the skin kept getting smaller and she finally took it out. Now there is a scar on that skin. Then, she went and got her nose pierced right before entering college (almost 19), and I was really upset....I don't know why it upset me, but it did. She knew it would upset me. Anyway, she no longer wears her little nose gem. I guess it is because I am/was a professional business person, and I was in charge of hiring. Those were no, nos in the prof. business world. I had my doc appt. yesterday, and doc said that my glucose was slightly elevated since last years test. In 2005 and 2006, my glucose was 97 and now it is 101. Diabetes runs in my family on both sides. Doc said it is good I am low carbing as it would probably be higher. He wants me to continue my woe and try to get in more exercise and wants to send me in a month for a 2 hour glucose tolerance test and she what that shows. I'm sort of over this. I'm the one in the family that doesn't eat sugar and bread, etc. My cholesterol is great. He also put me on more progesterone on certain days of the month. He said the estradiol may be making me gain weight but I feel better so we are going to keep it. I don't want to be fat and I am just frustrated. Don't feel you need to respond to me, I am just venting my feelings and it feels good to get it off my chest. Thanks for listening to me. (I am so much a Venus!) ![]() I hope everyone that has a job and is going off to work today and a wonderful, happy day. When you are feeling frustrated at your job, please think of me, who would love to have my old job back. We, as human beings, tend to always want what we don't have...I'm learning that as I get older. ![]() |

Good Morning All:
EILEEN!!!!!!!! Welcome, welcome, welcome! ![]() You have found a home here! This is a wonderful, funny, loving group of people, all different but all caring! I am so glad you are here!! Oh, I love your screen name, Sister Golden Hair. A fav oldie song of mine. I am so sorry you deal with all these health issues as a result of the surgery. Bless your heart!! BUt I love your spirit and determination to regain your health!Hey, I WANT RECIPES!!!!! Seriously, I asked on the Main Lobby as to why can't we (who haven't had the bypass surgery) just eat like we HAVE had it and lose the same incredible amount of weight!!I was told that it's because the post-surgery tummy cannot hold more than a few ounces and our (well MY) huge tummy needs more than that to be satisfied, thus more calories. BUT, I'd love for you to share some of your recipes, PLEASE????? ![]() |

Good morning Peeps,
I am back down to 176.8 - 170.0 (It kept bouncing between the 2 on my scale, so it must have been confused! )Trisha: Cool beans on the Wii! Yeah, remember the wrist strap!! Phil: To be honest, I watch LA Ink and I think some of the tatts are absolutely gorgeous, beautiful artwork, but I do not believe I should get one, or any piercings other than my 2 in each earlobe for earrings. As for my eldest daughter (19), she wants a nose gem and I told her no. I also told her no tattoos. I also heard the tatts above the ladies' buttocks are called "Tramp Stamps." Hi Paula!! Nice to see you posting again! Thanks for all the Wii info!! Michele: Do you mind if I give you a big ol' Jewish Momma hug? (Well, maybe 2) ![]() I know you are frustrated by your health challenges and how they relate to losing weight. I am there too. But, you know that this WOE is the best for you and you are doing the BEST thing for yourself by following it and once your endocrine and hormonal issues level off, the weight will come off. It's most important to get your system tweaked right now! Hang in there Michele, it will turn around once your system gets straightened out. ![]() Mikki: Oh my, I hope you are not hungry! I couldn't eat that little, I'd be gnawing on my hubbys leg! I hope you get to your goal. You are looking SO good and I know you are working hard. Chic: I appreciate what you wrote about tattoos. I feel the same way. Thank you for your vulnerability in posting that. Thank you also for posting your menus, they are a BIG BIG help to me. I am trying to learn all I can from you guys and your menus are so very helpful!! ![]() Freeing: Hang in there! Sometimes the body hangs onto the weight for a few days. You and I both took a walk on the wild side (but you only took baby steps compared to what I ate!) but anyway, we are back on the straight and narrow. You ARE a great example! A great example of what to do when one gives in to temptation - get over it and get back in the saddle! Thank you! You inspire me SOOOO much and I really need to see your daily menus, they really do help me. Hi to everyone else I missed, I'll be back in a bit, gotta make some Almond Joy Coconut Bark. Jimz - Thank you so much for the kudos! A good boost sure helps!
Thanks!Free - You poor thing! Grrrrr. I wonder about doctors sometimes. You keep a close watch on it. If you even think it is worse, march right back to the doctor! On the other hand, maybe prayers were answered, and it is already healing! I soooooo believe in answered prayers! Thank you also for your comments on law enforcement. It is true that I have spent many many hours concerned for him. I hate the phone calls, "I just got stabbed, but I am OK." "I got cut up in a storm door, but I'm OK." and countless other. When he responded to the Tech incident, all I could do was worry. Then again, I think the entire nation worried. Thank you for your thoughts. Don't worry about those candies, I doubt you'll even see them on your bod!Trish - Lovin' that Wii??? What time do you want us all over to play? We can't bring any snacks, 'cuz we are all on a diet. . .or is it a life change, I forget.Everyone else - Hooooowdy!!! |

Eileen - Welcome. I am sorry the surgery was not a great success. I hope that with it reversed, you get back on your feet fast! I know nerve damage can never be "fixed" but I do hope you can find ways to over come, as your body becomes strong again! Prayers out to ya!
Phil - Gotta feel that He would not want me to inject ink in my bod. I also feel God would not want me putting junk in my bod. That is why I am working hard to clean up my dish! Plus, I have a saying, "Ya can't eat it? Ya can't live in it? It don't keep ya warm or cool? Do ya really need it? Ya don't get it." On the other hand, I don't dog anyone else who chooses to get them. That girl on LA Ink is such a pretty girl, I can't help but wonder what she would look like letting her pretty skin show without the tatoos. There ya go, my cents worth. |

Lil - You might get a hoot out of this: M 4-y-o was doing Callen. with me yesterday, so she heard all my "charlie horse" this and leg cramp that. Last night she came up to me, with her hand on her leg. "Oh, Ma! I have a zebra in my yeg!" she exclaimed. "A zebra in your leg?" I questioned, quite puzzled. "Yeah, isn't that what you said, 'a zebra' in your leg? Ya know? Your yeg cramps?" Soooo, hope you don't get any zebras the next time you do your Callen.!!!

Good Wednesday, all my new CLA/GLA friends!!!..or I should say Good Winds-day, since it's really windy here in west Texas... not a fit day out for anybody, since with the wind comes the dust... & the tumbleweeds... for people with allergies, like me, it can be pretty miserable... oh, well, that's why indoor exercise was invented... this morning, I did 30 minutes of Leslie Sansone & about 6 minutes of NordicTrack... I haven't done NT for a couple of years, so I'm starting off slowly... I hope to work my way back up to at least 30 minutes... does anybody else here do NordicTrack?.. I took my CLA this morning on an empty stomach, & so far it isn't bothering me... I thought I'd try it that way, instead of waiting 'til my IF eating window opens at 5:00 p.m., 'cause that's when I take my fish oil... as long as it doesn't give me any problems, it seems like a good plan... I still need to go into town to get GLA... I always get CLA at GNC... they sometimes have a 2-for-1 sale... I think 90 gel caps are $21.99... I don't know if they're any better than other brands, that's just where I first found it a few years ago & where I still go to get it... A little about me: I'm a 58 y-o woman, I live out in the country, near the small community of Shallowater, Texas... I haven't weighed in a long time, but I'm sure I'm over 200 lbs... I'm a landscaper by profession, & my hobbies are gardening, birdwatching, reading, hiking, & camping... Thanks again for the nice friendly welcome... I'm glad to be here... to all... |
