Dani , I didn't get anything. The company deals directly with workers comp and the bills. We never see anything in writing. It was a verbal approval between workers comp and our saftey rep at the time who quit and went to another company before it was paid. The next guy was working on it and he moved on too. Its been forgotten with all the turnover in that job. WC also said the guy that was working on my case, quit and all his paperwork sat untouched on his deck. The new people in the safety positions dont have any idea of what my injury is or what was being done, so they just want to sweep it under the carpet and forget it. I am trying to get ahold of the original guy who got it approved now. Hes with a trucking company, but hes always out of the office. I want to see if he will write the company an e-mail and tell them it was approved. maybe that will be enough, but I doubt it.

Paula, congrats on the 3lb loss !!

Marsha, you don't have to leave. We still enjoy your posts . Maybe since so many are trying new things, we can change the title of the thread to "cla/gla and whatever is working for you !!". I love this group and I hate to see it break up !! So don't anyone feel they need to leave !! There are plenty of other cla threads if someone wants to just get info about that, and those still taking it can still posts updates about it. What do y'all think?

buvy, thanks for the info. I was thinking about trying nutrisystem, but wont now. Toms been wonderful cooking all kinds of LC stuff (Thanks Tom sweetie ) that will keep me from getting bored, but for some reason, It just isn't working for me this time like it did last time. Just wondering if the new oily formula is really effective.

ADLMA, I am avoiding the scale like it's the the plague !!! If my jeans eer start getting loose, I may sneak up on it again and check. I need to go get a check-up but I am so sick of going to the Dr... I really wonder if the humidity in the bathroom has warped the digital scale.

Michele, your reading my mind. In my frame of mind right now, I don't feel like posting either, but I always feel better when I do

MG, lol love those kitty pics

to everyone else

I just don't want you to feel deprived while cutting back and adjusting

Justachic- When I drop my carbs, I just do strength training and some walking for cardio(play with my son too at the park) I do strength training 4x a week and get in as much household/playtime exercise as possible. If I try to do too much, I get lightheaded and pass out. Not a good thing!!

Now I want to know who stole my whoosh fairy??? I woke up to the same weight as yesterday. I think it's because I didn't go to bed til 1am and got up at 6am. I also drank Theraflu again yesterday because I can't kick this stupid cold. Good 8 hours of sleep always seems to leave me weighing less in the morning. Ah well, I'll get her back tomorrow I'm sure!!

Menu for today

B- BET sandwich(I just can't get enough of these lately, it just hits the spot)

L- Cheeseburger with lettuce, tomato, mayo on oopsie

D- Tuna salad with cucumber and yellow peppers and egg

And of course my coconut oil and combo
Hi freeing, Our menu pretty much looks the same, love those oopsie's too! (and for bkft) I get alittle confused about the highering the fat with out adding too much protied, so will the coconut oil before each meal (i think i read you do that) take care of that? also I don't add mayo to my egg or tuna salad, should i start doing that too?

I just got my combo (took longer than i thought) but since reading about maybe restroom problems at the begining I'll wait till the weekend to start so my body can adjust.

WOW no body told me how BIG those borage oil pills are!! jeez.....

ok, so just to clarify one more time:

1/2 TBLS CLA AND GLA/BORAGE OIL PILL FIRST THING IN THE MORNING (WITH MEAL)

THEN ONE BORAGE PILL BEFORE LUNCH AND ANOTHER BEFORE/WITH DINNER

THAT'LL COVER THE DAILY INTAKE

THAT CORRECT???

THANKS FOR THE INFO

Annie, everyone takes it different, but I think we all agree to take it with food. 1/2 TBSP liquid cla, and 2-4 Now brand borage oil caps. I took mine all at the same time with breakfast, but others split theirs up

Trisha....I agree with you. I wouldn't like to see this thread come to an end either. When I cycle off (after this last bottle of CLA), I hope to still be here posting with you nice people about anything. I do understand there are times when it's just not in us to post and that's okay. It's just like anything- burn out happens but come on back and check in from time to time! No commitments- just for fun. Another thing, I'm wondering if it's just harder to lose the weight the second time around doing CLA or if it's really only good for the first shot??? I do love the other benifits the borage oil is giving me. My skin has been great and my "girl stuff" has been easier! I'm definitely going to continue using the borage oil after the CLA runs out.

Well, I picked up a copy of my lab results from my blood work so I can look at them before I go to my doctor appt. on Tuesday. My Free T3 is high. This is the first time it has ever been high...it is over the range, so maybe that is why I am gaining weight.

Anywho, that's my story and I'm stickin' to it!

Michele, I had my thyroid checked a couple years ago and it was ok. Maybe I should get checked again to rule that out. I really think all the stress I have been under and lack of a good nights sleep has alot to do with it. I have to take sleepMD to even get to sleep now. We were just told that we have some new contracts at work so we can expect to start working 5-6 days a week , 10 hour shifts. I love my job, but sometimes wonder if it is worth staying. The big bosses dont care about us. They are home with their families nights and weekends so its no skin off their butts . Even with the 50 hour weeks we have now, everyone is so tired and grumpy, it wont be long until we start having accidents. You just cant work people like that !!! I can't imagine what its going to be like working 50-60 hours a week

Mikki - Sorry you aren't feeling well. Get some rest and let some of your chores go.

Trish - I am already on armour thyroid, but I guess they need to lower it a bit. I already cut one of my pills in half this afternoon, trying to get a jump start on lowering before my Tuesday doctor appt.

50-60 hour weeks! Yeah that is really setting you all up for accidents. You are right, the big man always thinks of himself...that is what I have found out the hard way.

Michele....when I was about 21 years I started gaining all kinds of weight really quickly. My mom figured something was wrong becuz just months before that, people would look at me and wonder if I had an eating disorder (was so skinny). Hypothyroidism will do it to ya. Once I started taking my meds, my body adjusted itself to a normal weight. My doc at the time figured the reason I was so skinny was my thyroid was over active and finally burnt itself out. Hope everything turns out okay for you.

Stalls - Why the scales can lie
A biologist at Berkeley shared something very revealing on the low-carb BBS system a few years ago that helps us all through the erratic weight fluctuations you invariably encounter: Fat cells are resilient, stubborn little creatures that do not want to give up their actual cell volume. Over a period of weeks, maybe months of "proper dieting", each of your fat cells may have actually lost a good percentage of the actual fat contained in those cells. But the fat cells themselves, stubborn little guys, replace that lost fat with water to retain their size. That is, instead of shrinking to match the reduced amount of fat in the cell, they stay the same size! Result - you weigh the same, look the same, maybe even gained some scale weight, even though you have actually lost some serious fat.
The good news is that this water replacement is temporary. It's a defensive measure to keep your body from changing too rapidly. It allows the fat cell to counter the rapid change in cell composition, allowing for a slow, gradual reduction in cell size. The problem is, most people are frustrated with their apparent lack of success, assume they have lost nothing, and stop dieting.
However, if you give those fat cells some time, like 4-6 months, and ignore the scale weight fluctuations, your real weight/shape will slowly begin to show. The moral of the story - be patient! Your body is changing even if the number on the scale isn't.

Patterns of Weight Loss
Common patterns of weight loss from tracking a lot of people who become assimilated into the lowcarb lifestyle (hehe... resistance is futile!) a pattern emerges... the 2 week induction is pretty heady... weight lost just about every single day, enormous and unbelievable amounts of weight loss are reported. This is often followed by complaints that weight loss "stalls" or that the rate drops to only 1 pound per week.
Many people just don't know that fat-loss ...the actual goal when on a weight-reduction diet, is rate-limited. In other words, the human body has factors that prevent more than a certain amount of fatty-acid release from storage... and even more factors that prevent those released fatty acids from being used up instead of stored back into the fat cells.
A priority of the human body is survival. Anything that threatens its survival results in the cascade of events to maintain the previous status quo. Water fluctuations are one way the body does this. OK... so you done good on Atkins during induction... lost 10 pounds the first 2 weeks. Maybe 7 the first week and 3 the second. But, whoa! Weeks 3 and 4 there is NO loss! And weeks 5 and 6 is only 1/2 pound each!
So... what gives? Initially, the body jettisons the water attached to the glycogen stores that we diligently deplete to get into ketosis... this accounts for about 3-5 pounds of water. In addition, muscle stores of glycogen are not being replaced when used... which will account for the rest. All in all... MAYBE 1/2 pound of fat was metabolized during the first week... and MAYBE 1/2 pound of fat was metabolized the 2nd week. Of that 10 initial pounds, only 1 pound was fat and 9 pounds water... The body senses this lack and sirens start shrieking: Warning! Warning! Losing water... new thing... got to get back to the status quo! Brain tells body to produce and release that vasopressin antidiuretic hormone... more water is retained, and no weight loss noticed. Fat loss is still occuring, MAYBE even 2 pounds per week, because ketosis is firmly established and appetite supression is in effect... but water retention is hiding that continuing fat loss. The body is preventing dehydration with this mechanism, and that's a *good* thing.
From the perspective of the scale, it can be discouraging. Which is why the mantra: Water retention masks fat loss (repeated frequently to oneself) is helpful. Water retention will mask ongoing fat-loss for as long as the body retains the water. We can combat this by drinking more water... but we aren't going to totally overcome this mechanism during the initial water-loss phase of the Atkins diet. By weeks 5 and 6, things start to get back in balance, and the scale will begin to reflect the true fat-loss... which, as mentioned before is rate-limited. Individuals vary, but max weight loss runs about 2 pounds per week... under extremely optimal conditions... or 1% of body weight (whichever is the lower number).

So don't use the scale as an excuse to undermine your progress. Even when the scale is in a stall, fat loss can be occuring.

Hello!

It's been a crappy day. I am just now sitting down since I left work. My wife called me at work and told my that her vans heater wasn't blowing air. I went to the parts store and bought a new blower moter after work. I got home and pulled the van in the garage. Have i ever mentioned how THANKFULL I am to have a garage? I AM VERY THANKFULL!!!! Anyway, it's a dodge caravan and I found myself under the glove compartment, twisted sideway with both arms somehow up underneith the dash board. OOPPS! Wrong size socket. I pulled myself out, went to get a different socket and assumed the position again. I had to do that several times. Bolwer moter is installed and it works. Work today was no better. I get in the middle of doing one thing and someone else needs this done sooner. I'M BEAT!!

I don't know if I'll go cardio tonight or not. It's only 20 minutes but man it feels good to sit down.

Speaking of the combo...I have forgot to take mine the last 2 days. I guess I was just in a hurry to get out the door.

I don't know what I'll do about supper. I'm not even hungery and the only think that sounds good is water, which I haven't drank enough of today.

I wish I had a hot tub. I'd be soaking right now!

Chic....Thanks for sharing that. Sounds like you are ike me. I research the crap out of things. LOL...I knew more about my bow when I bought it then the dealer did. He even sent another customer over to talk to me about the bows since I knew so much about them.

I walked into a pawn shop one day to look at their guns. I saw a handgun in many different peices and ask the guy behind the counter about it. He handed to to me and said someone had taken it apart a few years ago and they never got it back together. I messed around with it for a couple minutes, put it back together, cocked it, dry fired it and handed it back to him. He was so thrilled to have it back together that he told me he would give me fifty bucks off any gun he had in the store. To bad he didn't have anything I wanted.
