Good morning all!

Today I was still at 177, so no change.

I am getting more and more confused about WHAT to take and WHAT to eat based on some of these posts and menus! WOW, I just don't know what is best for me since different things works so well for different people.

I hope I'm not offending y'all, but I am using you guys as examples.

Mikki, you eat WAY less than I do. In fact I wonder how many calories a day you eat? But, you said THIS is what works for you! You are dropping weight like crazy and I'm not!

Freeing: WOW, your menus look awesome, and you eat more than I do and you are dropping weight like crazy and I'm not. You also eat the coconut oil and the combo and you're losing weight so great!

Lisa: Decided to drop the CLA (based on her research of it being a bad TRANS fat.

LindaSue (in the Main LC Lobby) is back on Induction with little to no veggies and REALLY high fat and she's dropping weight like crazy!

Some people eat the ooooopsie rolls 4 x a day and still lose and others have to stop them because they make them stall or gain.

I really don't know what the answer is.

What do you y'all recommend, just trying little tweaks here and there, or just doing what I'm doing, or increasing my fat, or increasing my calories, or dropping my calories or WHAT????

I'm not in a stall per se, but I am s-l-o-w-l-y dropping just ounces here and there, not really dropping pounds like so many of you. And I have a LOT more to go - 52 pounds to be exact.

Any ideas?

Thanks everyone for sharing your menus, it REALLY helps me see that I need some work someplace!

Kathy,

Ya betcha girl we can do this!!!!!! I dont eat dinner because by the time i get home help kids w/homework, cook dinner its generally about 6:30-7 pm before i can eat and i also go to bed by 9- 9:30 so my food wouldent have time to digest before dinner. I really havent ever been a big dinner person, so i kinda like not eating dinner. Occasionally i am hungry and ill have a bite or to but thats about it. I have gotten use to it too

I think alot of this weight loss is due of course the combo which is awsome, also the LC'ing whis ia great too, but i actually had to reteach myself when to eat too. I never ate b-fast. i ate lunch and dinner ( sometimes) but my family loves meat and potatos, which i am a HUGE CARBAHOLIC...... deep fried french fries, with metled cheese on top and smothered in ranch...OMG one of my favs...... See i admit all of it i am a carbaholic....i cant help it. I feel great on this combo too, for the first 2 weeks i was kinda weak but then i figured out what more i caould eat and that helped a bunch!

Well guys i need to get going but i will bbl........

Hi everyone.... and hugz to you all

Hi all,
Just checking in. Haven't had a chance to read and catch up on the posts.
I have been sick with this awful cough for over 2 weeks! I am so tired of coughing, makes my back, ribs and head ache!!
I haven't been eating really great, but not terrible either. I haven't weighed for a week and won't yet as TOM has one foot in the door already again so I will wait.
I have to run I'm at work , but wanted to do a quick check in and let you know that I am still here!!

I agree and also keep up with the healthy fats and EFA's. Look what the lack of this did to the poor gals who followed Kimkins-all kinds of health issues!

MG- I definately agree to up your calories. I am taking the coconut oil for 2 reasons, it is healthy fat and it helps my calories stay up. I sometimes have a problem getting enough calories. Especially since my appetite goes down with LC.

jimzgrl- I focus mainly on strength training while doing lower carbs. I started running last month, but when I lower my carbs under 75g again, I just can't do running without passing out. So now I am doing strength training, playing with DS at the park(this means actually doing whatever he does i.e. rolling down hills, sliding, swinging, running around, etc. I follow HIM) and some walking. That's it.

I am glad my menus are helpful, but just remember what works for one, may not work for another. I do plug everything into Fitday ALWAYS. It keeps me accountable and therefore losing well I do hate doing Fitday, especially with a toddler, but I do it first thing in the morning before breakfast and plan my day as much possible, then go from there.

I think I HAVE to order Thinfat because it takes all I have to get this batch of CLA down, it's like foul tasting oily yuk!! And this is coming from a girl who is oil pulling and swallows CO with some water...

Doesn't CLA occur naturally in grass fed cows and other ruminating animals? and in the milk of grass fed cows?

Does this mean we should avoid grass fed beef? it seems a catch 22 that the corn and grain fed to cows make them sick and we have to use antibiotics and crap, but the naturals cows have BAD naturally occurring Transfats? It seems every webpage has an agenda. do this don't use that. only this brand will help you. etc.

no one will ever get it 100% right cause there is no right answer. We all will die eventually, whatever is working for you should be the choice you make. Being aware of the options is great but it shouldn't be petrifying. there are folks who'd say low carb in any fashion would kill you. but everyone is doing it their way and for those it works for it is great and I think they should keep doing it barring obvious and immediate danger to themselves.

just my two cents.

Good afternoon. No loss on the scale, still.

DD called and said her basement is flooding. She is at college and rents a house with 4 other girls and her bedroom is in the basement! She woke up to water all over her carpet and it soaked her bed skirt, etc. I told her to unplug her TV and take her printer and computer upstairs. Why can't life just go along smoothly?

MG - Yes, you could increase your calories a little and see if it shakes things up. I ordered some cod liver oil, mercury free, pcb free and distilled, and it is . Lemon flavored but I gagged after swallowing it and tried to keep it down. Did you ever find one that you like?

Kathy - Sorry to hear the doc said no elliptical for a week. I hope your back starts to feels better soon. I think you should take it slow. Congrats on being down another pound. Maybe you don't need to exercise right now.

Phil - Glad you are back to where you were after taking your BP pills.

Trish - Whatcha doing today?

Tom - I went to bed early last evening. Did anyone chat?

Lucki - I agree that working the weights slowly is good.

Chic - What are you doing today?

Berlinbear (Dani) - Awesome weight loss, girl!!!!!,

Marsha - Where art thou?

Freeing - You are doing great and I love seeing everyone's menus, it helps to remind me that I should eat more.

Lisabinil - Yep, although I followed Kimmer's advice (while here on LC Friends) for a short while, I did a 500 calorie diet (from an actual doctor) on and off for most of my adult life. Now, not only am I used to not eating much, I've gained all the weight back, plus more, and find it difficult to lose weight. I hope no one else does this. Eating very low calories is not good. Eventually, it will stop working.

Jillywilly - I'm sorry you are sick. I had that nasty cough and still am coughing some. It takes a while to get over it.

ADLMA, Thyke, Metqa and anyone else I am missed. Have a great day.

It's not naturally occurring CLA that's the problem-it's how it's been altered to make it a transfat. Everyone has to choose what's right for them.

Check out Udo Erasmus site. He explains how CLA is derived from LA.

UdoErasmus.com > CLA - Conjugated Linoleic Acid - Conjugated or Compromised? (PART 1 of 9)

"How is LA Changed to CLA?

CLA is made from LA, the n-6 EFA, by flipping one of the double bonds in the LA molecule one carbon closer to the other one. This changes the 'methylene-interrupted' double bonds present in EFAs (double bonds start 3 carbons apart) into 'conjugated' double bonds (double bonds start 2 carbons apart). At the same time, one of the double bonds found in the cis- configuration in an EFA (hydrogen atoms on the carbons involved in the double bond are on the same side of the molecule) twists 180°. The hydrogen atoms are now in a more stable, but biologically less desirable trans- configuration (hydrogen atoms on the carbons involved in the double bond are on opposite sides of the molecule). Trans- means 'across'. Hence the name trans- fatty acid.

Is CLA an Essential Nutrient?

CLA is not an essential nutrient. It is, like monounsaturated (n-9) and saturated fatty acids, a non-essential fatty acid. It is not required for human health. This means that, unlike the n-6 and n-3 EFAs, which we cannot live without, we can live on a CLA-free diet a whole life time and continue to be healthy. CLA is also a trans- fatty acid."

Thank you everyone!

OK, the reason why I don't calculate my calories is that I am a burned-out Weight Watcher! I got obsessed and nuts over weighing and measuring and calculating EVERYTHING even every bite, lick and taste (AKA "BLT'"s) that I hit a wall and could not go any further.

I am able to stay on this WOE is that I don't weigh or measure or calculate anything!

AND, I make just about everything from scratch, adding as I go, not measuring so I have no way to enter it into Fitday.

I use the No-No Lists and the Allowable Lists from Dr. Bernstein's Diabetic Solution and I stick to that. I also know to keep my portions smaller (about half of what I was eating before as a portion), but other than that, I can only guesstimate how much I'm eating. I'm pretty sure it's not too low.

Anyway, here are some things I've been eating to give y'all an idea.

My morning shake is this:
Now brand Whey Protein powder 270 cals 7 gm carbs
1/4 cup organic flax seed - whole
FiberSure 2-3 TB
2 TB unsweetened cocoa
stevia
natural vanilla extract (a dash)
ice cubes and about 6 cups of water

For lunch I had:
Juniper's Flax Tortilla with about 2 TB Parmesan cheese
About 1 cup homemade tuna-salmon salad

(1 15 ounce can Alaskan salmon, undrained
2 12 ounce cans tuna in water
8 stalks celery
dried chives
Dijon mustard
1 cup organic baby carrots
Glob of Duke's mayo (no sugar) Ummmm, about 1/2 - 3/4 cup?)

For supper, I'll have

1 baked chicken breast half
about 1 1/c cups Cheesy Broccoli Casserole

(2 pounds frozen broccoli cuts
8 ounces reg cream cheese
8 ounces cheddar cheese
S&P)

Snack before bed:

2 string cheese (mozz and cheddar)

Hell everyone.....even in Nevada...LMAO im sorry my typo's are bad... LOL i mean Hello.. oops

I think that my calorie intake is around 1300, i will count for sure. Like i said i do eat calories because my body needs something to burn off, it cant do both LC and low cal. i would for sure be in the hospital. I have a friend who was 245 almost 2 yrs ago and she is now 160 and she is 5'9, she did it with just low carbs. ( and she is a beer drinker) but she was eating, just alot more in a day, than just 2-3 meals. Like me i only ate maybe 2 meals a day they just were the wrong foods and my metabolism slowed down due to having kiddos. so more food for me in a day, ok 2 meals and 2 1/2 snacks. which is alot better than before i started this diet. I am happy with my weight loss, i dont know how long it will be before i am around 150.

OK have a nice day and i will BBL

MG - I did the counting thing myself. . .it drove me beyond nuts. You still just seem low to me -- and light on the veggies! (I can't talk. I worse than you!) My weight is not dropping as quick as I would like either. I think too, I am low on the cal. side. Just count for one little-bitty day. I pray for you. Even if you eat it, then count it. You just seem low. I don't count anything either 'cuz it bugs me to the point I won't eat, but you need to know a base line.

Hello to all. I am awful about remembering everyone, so not to leave anyone out. . .HIIII!!!

Hello All,
I have the Thermo Cla by GNC made by Tonalin. It has 1500 mg cla per 2 softgels, 200 mg L-Cartine, 180 mg Caffine Anhydrous,100 mg Green tea leaf Extract. I hope this works as well as the Cla by Tonalin without the other stuff.

Hi Michele.....I took a break from strength training today and decided to try something I read in a fitness magazine that is supposed to boost metabolism. I did 20 minutes on the Versa Climber (the thing I call the spider man machine) then stretched for 15 minutes then got right back on it again for another 20 minutes. I guess the idea of getting your heart rate up, then lowering it, then up again is supposed to shake things up. I plan on doing this every other day that I'm not training with weights. I'm really happy to hear you are doing weights too as it's supposed to be the best for continuous fat burning!

The reason I won't lower my food intake is because I believe that our bodies go into starvation mode if we eat fewer and fewer calories. I think it goes back to the prehistoric days when if food became scarce, our bodies would try to store what little was coming in for later. So after awhile we would all have to continue to eat less and less just to lose more weight. Of course everybody's metabolism is different. For me, I would rather exercise more than eat less as this is how my body has always responded with food and exercise in the past. Eat whatever I wanted as long as I worked out. Things feel a bit different now but I'm trying to reboot my system!

Mikki...As for the Bacon Wrap at Arby's. Will have to try it soon!
