Sorry, this is a re-post. I accidentally posted on the January thread.
Hi everyone. I've been thinking about supplementing with CLA and GLA. Actually, I've already started the CLA supplements (4.44 g per day). I curious about whether it's better to take both of them (synergistic effects) or if you will see benefits from just taking one? I have IBS, so any time there's possible stomach upset as a side effect, I get it. ![]() |

bethie, if its working I wouldnt go off. The inches coming off are more important, not the numbers on the scale. The scale will eventually catch up if you hang in there

Trish** HUGS tight hunnie! I won't go into detail right now, but I have balance issues..I've been diagnosed with Spinal Ataxia, which is alot like MS *which my mother has* but thank God it isn't MS!! Soooo I hafta stick with things that don't require very much balance..for exercise. I'm not familiar with TTapp, butttt I am walking a 30 minute mile (6% incline) on my treadmill every day and doing 15-30 minutes of Bodyflex. I also have abs and arms of steel tapes on their way* I'm just impatient and want that flab gone NOW..hehe*

Is this where I start?
Hello everyone,
I am new to this site and am wondering how to sign on? My doctor suggested that carbs are a disaster for me and suggested I stop eating them. He said that different people have different problems and while some people can eat carbs until the cows are in, I am probably not one of them. There goes my favorite meal of a baked potato covered in vegatables I am very interested in the CLA/GLA combo and also in adding fish oill to my diet. I hope this post signs me up for all of your advice and info. Thanks, Karen

Ok, so I measured over the weekend, and I found I lost 1 inch from my abs at the navel, 1 inch from my lower abs, and 1 inch from my hips. I didn't lose from anywhere else. At first I was kind of disappointed, but then I thought about it differently. I've been in a stall on the scale the whole time, so I guess these loss of these inches represents some fat loss after all. Oh, and btw, my skin looks fab. I haven't had a pimple for weeks!!!

smacks Trish on the hand...put that combo somewhere where you will not forget it. Seriously, sorry about all the bad luck. Especially the furnace. I hate being cold, and it has been as cold as a witches you know what. I think I will move to Florida. Wait a minute, I do live in Florida.
Maybe Jamaica? Have an awesome day everyone! |

California cow girl
Kycowgirl, thanks for the welcome. My family has a cattle ranch in Caifornia, about 100 head of cattle. It doesn't provide a living but it is lots of fun.
I know I will have lots of questions. I have lot of back posts to read first. I first heard about this from the Fat Flush Plan by Louise Gittleman. Does anybody recommend this book or do I need to start fresh? I need to find my copy and see the amounts she recommends. I loved the signature about feeling sorry for yourself. I should have it tatooed around my wrist. But I just read yesterday that in forty years there are going to be a lot of 80 year old women walking around with tatoos and nose piercings. Kind of made me rethink that idea. Thanks for the laugh and good wishes. Hopefully you'll be seeing less of me soon. Karen |

dusty !!!
I have it right by the fridge so I wont forget it again lol. I'll be in your neck of the woods the last week in April. I can't wait !!! Beaches....here I come !!! You have a great day too Karen, welcome to the thread. we would love to be seeing "less" of you lol. Go with the required amount of cla/gla we put on the first post. I hear thats a good book but I havent read it myself. My cowgirling had more to do with horses. I only had about 24 head of cattle and 7 horses. We sold them all when I got divorced. My aunt has alot of horses so when I want to, I can go there. Sadly, because of my neck injury I am not supposed to ride anymore (but I still do at times ) |

Hey all.
I wanted to join in too. I was so glad I ran across this thread. My name is also Trish but I'm in Arkansas. I have been struggling real hard for the past few years to get my metabolism back on track after I spent a few months on Paxil.
My mom committed suicide in 2002 and then we had to have my sister committed for bi-polar disorder and things were really crazy. I had lost 85 lbs just dieting and walking everyday when my husband decided he didn't want to stick around. He left and filed for divorce a year after my mom died. After the doctor put me on Paxil I gained about 45 lbs back and I have been trying for 2 years to get back on track. In January I got serious and started researching different vitamins and so far I have been losing about 10 lbs a month. I started the combo 2 days ago. Currently my weight is 232. I'm 4'11. My waist is 38 and my hips are, well as I sit here I just forgot. I think it's 58. Hips are my families curse. Since December I have been taking Omega 3 Fish oil, a kelp tablet (helps with the blues somehow), green tea extract and a hair and nail vitamin. I started the combo 2 days ago and I have already lost a pound. Woo Hoo. I hope it continues. I do exercise every day. I have a pedomiter that I have worn faithfully for about 2 years and I walk 20,000-30,000 steps a day. ![]() |

Sorry I missed your post Trish. Welcome in.
Im only 5 ft 2 and my start weight was 202. I gave up on change. I ran across a weight plan from Kaiser medical group called freedom from fat. At the same time I joined a bootcamp for out door exercise. The board here keeps me on track. I want to lose at least 30 pounds of fat. One day at a time is all you can do. ![]() |

Thanks and I am oh so much better now.
Woo Hoo, I am down another 1/2 lb today.
Has anyone watched the movie "The Secret". I have been watching that too and it has really improved my outlook. I made me a dream board last night and put a skinny picture of me on it and then I pulled out an old pair of size 12 jeans I am going to get in this summer. Hope everyone is doing well. OK, I'm off to walk. |

I noticed when I took the CLA/GLA that my face became so much more oilier. Has anyone else had this problem? I stopped taking them to see if this was the problem and it was. Will this go away or is it something I have to put up with. Since you all have had such good results I really want to do this.
And to trish-this doesnt sound good for me then. I was on Paxil for 4 years and now on Lexapro for the last 3 or 4. There is no way I can get off. I have tried Wellbutrin and it messes me up. ![]()

Jesse, we did get the furnace fixed Monday. It sure was a cold weekend !! Its been in the 40's the last 2 days and supposed to get in the 50's by the end of the week. I hope spring is on its way in. Now we just have to get the hot tub heater fixed
Trish, I havent heard of that movie, I'll have to look it up on the web. Sounds intersting. Nice av, your a very pretty girl anrn, some did experience breakouts at first but it did clear up in a couple weeks. Your system just needs to get adjusted to the extra oils. I tried wellbutrin also and it did nothing for me. I read alot of good about Chantix on the boards here so I am going to ask my doc for it. they quit smoking in 3 weeks with it |

Hi Trish151,
"The Secret" is new age religion (the law of attraction theology). As they say, you shouldn't mix religious beliefs, politics and vitamin regimens. ![]() There is a section on the board for this. Forum is called, "Emotional Well-being and Faith-based Support". ![]() |

Hi anrn1995, I have as well, but I am also doing a Colonix due to stopping smoking and wanting to start "fresh". Likely, the Omega Complex and GLA that I am taking are making it worse than that on its own. CLA wouldn't seem to be as much as an antagonist on that. You can try to drop the level of GLA/Omegas that you are t |
