I'm Drinking Water, Now I'm Bloated
Okay. I'm in ketosis. I'm drinking the water. I'm taking the multivitamins and the cla/gla combo? I am soooo bloated. What is this?
I can see the excess water everywhere. My kids grabbed my arm and said "Mom, you're all squishy". And I am. I feel all "squishy" is the correct term. And my pants are tight and TOM just left yesterday. I had a whoosh last week. Went down to 209.5 all of a sudden. But I have 3 pounds of water weight on me. HELP!!!! |

How much are you drinking? When I was pregnant, and retaining water, I came across some info that said that drinking MORE water would help flush the stored water. I also have read that adding a bit of unsweetened cranberry or lemon juice can help flush out water bloat. Or maybe you have had too much sodium? I ate a bunch of pork rinds one day and really noticed bloat the following day. I ate one and a half hot dogs (a ton of sodium) on Sunday and only drank about 70 ounces of water, and the next day I showed an increase of one pound (had to be water). Some people can get away with lots of salt on lc, but I can't. Maybe you can't either? TOM can affect water, but I would find that a little odd if you are strict induction, because severely cutting carbs sort of forces you to release stored water. That is why so many people will lose 8-15 pounds in the first two weeks. Retained water is being released and dumped. But, even though I don't have the problem doesn't mean it isn't possible. Others have posted about this being a problem. If you have already checked these things, and none of them seem to help you, I think it might be wise to ask a doctor about it. Sometimes, water retention can mean more serious health issues that need professional attention.

Well I was taking a diuretic for BP and I stopped taking it cause I didn't want to have a supper low diuretic response. Maybe I'll take it again and watch it day by day.

Definitely be careful with the diuretics! I think they are generally discouraged on LC because the diet itself usually has a diuretic effect. Be careful that you don't end up dehydrated if you do use them.
Are you sure you are drinking enough water? Some sources recommend 1/2 ounce for each pound of body weight. That is baseline. If you are very hot or active, you need to drink even more to make up for the loss. If you have Blood Pressure problems, maybe you should have your doctor supervise your induction phase? |
