You can add it to protein shakes. That actually helps with any queezy feeling you may get the first couple days from the extra oils. Come join our monthly cla/gla thread. we will be glad to have you

CLA/GLA question
I was just at the health store and picked up some CLA. I couldn't rember the name borage so I asked about GLA and evening primrose has GLA in it.
The lady at the health store said that was the same as borage???? What do you think? |

The Borage has the highest content of gla so less pills to take, and the primrose tended to give some of us bad headaches plus more pills to take, so we stick with the Borage for a better value all around

I had been taking capsules and just opened my bottle of liquid CLA. It doesn't taste bad at all, to my surprise. But my problem is, how do you measure it? I have two sets of measuring spoons and neither has a 1/2 tbsp measure. There are 3 tsp to a tbsp, so I could theoretically measure out 1.5 tsp, but that is really kind of a pain! What do others do?
I ate it off the spoon today, but am thinking about ways to incorporate it into my diet. I'm not doing protein shakes yet as I'm just entering OWL and I want to kind of figure out what's going on with my body before I add anything. Also my protein powder is why concentrate which is technically dairy and I'm not on that rung yet. Can you heat CLA? Would it work in my flax muffin? |

You need 5 of the Tonalin Brand and 2-4 of the Borage Oil caps a day PalmTreeGal I have a 1/2 Tbsp measuing spoon I use, but Tom just uses a regular tsp. I cant answer about heating it. I haven't heard of anyone trying that yet |

Way too much time on my hands!

Hi, I also have a question for you guys. I'm reading an article of CLA, and it says that it's for people with hypothyroidism. I don't know, but I don't think there's anything wrong with my thyroids. Will taking CLA/GLA benefit me? Most importantly, will it mess wtih my thyroids since it was okay to begin with?

Trisha,
Well, it's been a long wait, but I finally got the OK from my naturopathic doctor to take the CLA/GLA combo. Don't know if you remember or not, but a while back, I had to stop the GLA due to a neurological disorder, so I did a lot of research, printed it out, and brought it to the doctor today. He read it over carefully, and to make a long story short, he calmed my fears with some rational sound advice. Am I happy? You bet your gazones, I am! ![]() Tomorrow I start back, and resume my routine, and in two weeks time, I'm sure I will see results. I did stop on my own accord, because I did become concerned, but I feel that with a little research and doctor's approval, I am a lot more secure using the combo. |

. You picked a great place to come to for support I'm not real good at explaining things. Not exactly sure how your body does get rid of it, but I do know it works ![]() Its like the cla breaks up the fat in your cells and the borage oil (gla) washes it away and helps prevent re-gain. The CLA builds lean muscle so thats why you dont see a big jump on the scale but continue to lose inches Come and join us on the monthly cla/gla threads. We would like to get to know you better and all your questions can be answered there. We have alot of really great helpful members there. Thanks for the reminder. Here is the post about that....
Quote:
Though scores of people still refuse to believe it, your body MUST have an arsenal of good fat present in order to burn the fats that are prone to cellular storage. Omega-3s are vital to hundreds of processes within the body - many of which are closely associated with metabolic enzymes and hormones that help the body use fat for energy. If you're taking CLA, don't eat your Omega-3s at the same time. They will compete against each other for absorption. Leave at least a 3 hour window when taking both. CLA: Fat burners may come and go, but Conjugated Linoleic Acid is still the undisputed king of fat burning. Aside from scouring the body for expendable fat stores and inhibiting the actions of lipoprotein lactase, CLA also helps spare lean muscle tissue from being catabolized, boosts immune system response, decreases insulin resistance and is non-stimulating. It is one of the industry's most researched compounds, and has been shown to work remarkably in a number of human trials. |

LOL Mikki, are you lost??
Hi Susan, we usually have a pretty big order. Try the de vincis SF syrups, but not sure if they ship them in the winter cuz of the glass bottles. we also get the flax meal, Powdered Erythritol, Diabetisweet brown sugar, LorAnn Oils, Xylitol Sweetener for cooking. Mcanns steel cut oats are awesome, but not for induction. we tried the Oh Yea protein bars but they were pretty chalky. Brain freeze here but if I remember anything else, I'll come back http://www.lowcarbfriends.com/bbs/vi...ml#post9801342 |

I bought Tonalin CLA 1000mg and Borage oil 500mg at Walmart yesterday.
My question is if the the recommended daily dosage of CLA is 3400mg am I still suppossed to take five 1000mg capsules of CLA? Also, do you take both the CLA and Borage Oil in the am at the same time? And my last question is if you decide to up your dosage of Borage Oil to 4 caps instead of 2 do you split this up or take all four at once? Sorry for all the questions, I'm sure that some are redundant but it's hard to find the answers throught the search feature because CLA and GLA are in almost all of the posts!
