Vitamin B injections for weight loss

I know a couple of girls who swear by this claiming they lose 5 lbs / week. I've seen that it has worked for them...but I'm too afraid to try them.

Has anyone tried these?

My aunt went on the Dr. Bernstein diet. She had vitamin shot, I don't know how often she got the shots. There was also a very strict diet involved, relatively low carb and low calorie and low fat too. She lost a lot of weight but when she stopped taking the shots she started gaining again. This diet was REALLY expensive. I am not totally convinced that losing that quickly is necessary. If you find a diet plan that you can stick to that will work just as well.

yes and no, I have chronic fatigue syndrom, so i use it for that, but since I have seen the benifits of it weightloss wise, I would have to say i use it for that reason too.

B12 won't help you lose weight.

It's a gimmick that Bernstein uses - you lose weight on his diet because you are consuming about only 800 calories a day (my gf is on it).

B12 is for the treatment of pernicious anemia

This is not a true statement. My mother is a nutritionalist and she (actually the nurses) give B12 shots to their clients. Weight loss slows the body down and all that B12 does is help boost metabolism. It's like giving your body a kick start.

Of course, B12 does not by itself make you lose weight. By following a diet plan (lifestyle change), exercise and a little assistance occassionally from an authorized doctor, the weight loss will be acheived.

Caution: Please do not take B12 without consulting a doctor. B12 if taken in excess can be toxic to your body. Some people already carry high doses of B12 in their body. My Mother took a B12 shot (just 1) and her hands turned yellow. Her liver was trying to expell the B12 shot and her doctor was amazed she was still standing. Her B12 levels were 3x's the normal. So, please just be very careful.

B vitamins are not a magic bullet for weight loss.

At best you'll be wasting your money. Most pass though the body.

An exception is B12 which can only help you if you were deficient. It can hurt your liver.

Weight loss doctors could get rich convincing people to drink pigs blood. People trying
to lose weight can be gullible. Tread carefully with medical info dispensed on-line.

[COLOR=Purple]I appreciate your trying to help, but I have been getting B6 & B12 injections and they are not only helping to increase my metabolism but they are also helping with my asthma & hives. This is not something I have heard about, but something I have experienced. It is a bit exspensive going to Bariatrics for my injections, so I was going to give myself the injections. I get regular blood work done anyhow to check my levels because of a pituitary tumor, so I wouldn't have to worry about the toxic side effect.
But there is truth in the B injections, I know for a fact. They may not work the same for everyone, and they don't make the pounds drop right off.

I've tried B 12 for CFS and not only did it not help my CFS I didn't notice any weight loss and I took it for months. It's a water soluble vitamin and turns your pee bright yellow and passes thru your body quickly.
