Thinking about carbs triggers insulin?
So I was reading Taubes' "Why We Get Fat" and he says that just thinking about carbs will release insulin! For real?? Is it enough to worry about? Does that mean my body releases insulin every time I see an ad or pic of a carb? *sigh*

I can't answer your specific question, but I have definitely felt my mouth water at the sight and smell of certain carby foods. My guess is it is an insulin release, but enough to cause fat storage??

Much as I respect Gary Taubes, I just don't see how this can be a significant effect. Higher insulin levels decreases your blood sugar, and if you have normal insulin metabolism your body works hard to keep your blood sugars normal. If you release insulin from thinking about carbs, you will have to release LESS insulin later so you don't get hypoglycemic. (and really, that is a very rare thing, not like people used to think.)
