Does anyone here own "Low Carbing Among Friends"?
I'm interested in this cookbook, but it's a bit pricy and I'm wondering how many of the recipes are vegetarian, or easily adapted to be vegetarian?

No, I don't have it. I was also wondering about it. I have so many cookbooks already and I figured I might be able to find most of the recipes around here anyway. My wife is complaining that I have too many books and she wants to get rid of half of them.

I ordered both volume 1 and 2 last week, but they have to cross the Atlantic to get to me, so I cannot report yet. I'll do the veggie recipe count asap!
I mostly ordered the books for baking recipes, so I won't be majorly disappointed if the main courses aren't doable for me, but I still hope there'll be some vegetarian ones. |

The books have finally arrived, yay!
I haven't done a complete recipe count yet, but I have tried to get an overview of volume 1. The main dishes are pretty meat/fish-heavy (I'd say 80%), but the remaining veggie dishes sound great. The soups often use chicken broth which can easily exchanged with veggie broth. The breakfast section is about 50/50, the meat dishes are often adjustable. And the pudding/cake/cookie section is almost 100% veggie (and I'm used to exchanging gelatine with agar agar, so it's 100% useable), plus the recipes are to die for. I'm very happy to have bought the books. ETA: I'm not an expert since I'm an ovo-lacto-vegetarian, but IMO, there are almost no vegan recipes. Last edited by Tofulover; 10-15-2012 at 12:16 PM.. |
