Oatburger sausage or links
Oatburger sausage or links
4 cup water 1 cup chopped walnuts (I used ground walnut meal) 1/2 cup soy sauce 2 tablespoon yeast flakes 1/3 cup oil 2 teaspoon bakon seasoning (Health Food Store will carry or order) (I used liquid smoke instead) 2 teaspoon each, coriander and sage (I didn't have the coriander, so I omitted it) 1 teaspoon each, cumin and 1 tablespoon sweet bazil, 1/2 teaspoon thyme 1 pkg onion soup mix 4 cup rolled oats Bring all ingredients except oats to a boil in a large pot. Add rolled oats and stir until well mixed. Remove from heat, cover and set aside. When cool, flatten out with rolling pin between 2 sheets of plastic wrap to 3/8 inch thick and cut with glass or biscuit cutter. Place on baking sheet, bake 15 minutes on each side, or: scoop out with ice cream scoop, roll between hands to form sausage links. Bake 30-35 minutes at 350'. Makes: 15 I made this and added in more spices cuz I likes my sausage spicy. It turned out pretty good, but it needs more heartiness. I think next time, I'll add in some cooked bulgur. I actually got 30 patties. I wasn't able to form the links. It freezes well and heats up easily in a skillet with oil. |
