Chana Dal question

This is a been that looks almost like yellow split peas but it has
a verry low glucemic index. It looks so much like yellow split peas
that some times yellow split peas are sold in place of it. i bought
some a while back and wonder how to verrify if they are realy
Chana Dal. Any ideas ?

no, they are different legumes. yellow split peas are pretty starchy, just like the green ones. they can certainly be substituted in cooking, which American vegetarians do all the time, but they are not the same nutritionally.

I just cooked some chana dal. I ate about 3/4 of a cup and it only made my blood sugar
go up from 86 to 94! True it isn't low carb but the glucemic index sure is low.

Google it and you should find the difference in appearance. Google 'show me' and 'pictures of' also google exactly what info you want such as 'difference btw yellow split peas and chana dahl'.

I know Mendoza really promotes it. He's done a lot of research re glycemic load of this food. Not a bad way to go if you're adding legumes.
