I'm not sure about losing 19 lbs in one month. The average weight loss is generally 1-3 lbs per week.
The hardest thing for me is being patient and not watching the scale. Your food looks fine as long as you are eating enough. I find that variety helps a lot. Good luck with this. Last edited by Nigel; 06-09-2011 at 02:05 PM.. |

Pauline,
I know I've seen this before, but one more time - while you were losing your weight, what was your average grams of carbohydrates per day? Did you count fat and protein grams as well? I am so in awe of your journey - |

locarblady .. I will answer in two ways ... I have found I can lose weight at a nice rate on as high as 60 net carbs and 1800 calories (with good appetite suppression, even higher carbs with less apeetite suppression) .. how I found this out .. I will tell you after I say that most of my weight was lost on ~25-30 net carbs, ~1500-1600 calories, and 60-80% Fat. After a couple of years at 25-30 net carbs, I realized I was having trouble with binge eating. I went up the Atkins carb ladder, added in good healthy carbs (more veggies!!, yogurt, nuts, lowcarb pitas) and found out I lose just as well on that higher carb amount but feel more satisfied and happy eating that amount of healthy carbs. Kelly, the OP of this thread, was looking for a 19 pound weightloss in a month .. I will say, as Nigel pointed out the 1-3 lb figure, my weightloss, even with over 100 lbs to lose, came out to about 1.5 lbs a week average .. with the exception of my "amazing for me" first-ever month of 10 lb loss .. hth! ![]() Pauline

Thanks so much - I've been trying to keep it right about 30 carbs, protein anywhere from 45-55 grms. a day and I really haven't kept track of the fat - I add butter to veggies and cream to tea and olive oil to my salads.....hopefully this will work for me as well as it did for you!

I found I can lose weight all the way up to 100 net carbs .. and did so also at 60-75 net carbs at one point.
I currently eat around 50 net carbs - by choice - for appetite suppression only .. but this means I choose to eat certain good vegetarian foods less frequently, specifically legumes / beans (although I do eat peanut butter daily, lol!). I eat a LOT of vegetables, dairy, lowcarb pitas, soy, nuts and peanuts all of which have some carbs (good ones!). For me carb level seems to be more about the appetite - I take it down further than "necessary" in order to not overeat due to dissatisfaction with the food quantity necessary for weightloss and/or maintenance. I recently needed to cut back a little to take off two pounds .. I did nothing to my carb level .. I cut out some food quantity (calories by about 200) and the 2 lbs came off - no problem. hth!
