2 tbsps per day...said if you take it for awhile it's supposed to rev the thyroid and stimulate metabolism (helps you lose weight) Anyone had success long term with this? I have started cooking with it :)

So...nothing revs a 'dead thyroid'...you can only 'replace the hormones' of the thyroid.
That being said, coconut oil is a great healthy oil, and if you are on a low carb plan and put in coconut oil...well, yes, you will most likely lose weight.
Fat is a good thing when the carbs are kept low and sugar in any form is kept out of the diet.
