New Thyroid Test Results
All of my previous thyroid tests have been normal but I keep gaining weight, cold all the time, nodules on the thyroid etc. GP agreed to run a TSH (I Know she should have done the whole series but wouldn't) and it is significantly higher then it was before but still in normal range. With 5 nodules and this TSH, do you think it's time for treatment? Thanks for any suggestions.

I also seem to be getting many auto immune disorders - I am now on restasis for dry eye due to sjorgrens/I have Primary Biliary Cirrhosis/thyroid nodules. Every time I turn around it's something else. Right now I have a rash on my arms and legs and have no clue what it's from - heat? weight gain? Only thing different is the restasis. Restasis is a cyclosporine which is an immosuppressive so I am not real happy taking it but it beats corneal abrasions.

Here are my TSH results since 2011 Any help would be appreciated!! Thanks

2011 = 1.57
2011= 1.18
2012 = 1.352
Current 2013= 2.355

Need lab ranges next to the results.

Oops..sorry the range was .4 to 4.0

I did go to the GP today and they won't treat yet, she says it is still within normal range. I know that but I thought with the nodules, huge weight gain, fatigue, hair loss etc and being over 2.0 they would treat or look into it further. She said I should have another lab in 3 months. This is really depressing.

My GP put me off for 5 years--with progressively severe hypothyroid symptoms.

I only got diagnosed when I self-referred to a local endo--because I lucked out, and this woman was a great thyroid doctor. That isn't always true, even with endos.

You probably should begin a search for a good thyroid doctor because being diagnosed and treated is only the beginning. You want to have confidence in the doctor who will be managing your care long term.

If she won't run Free T4 and Free T3 along with the TSH, you can get it done yourself.
