Nodule growth
Have a multi nodule thyroid, hashis. Since my las recheck up and fanboy in November, a couple of nodules have grown, a couple have stayed the same, and one is sllightly smaller (according to the sono tech).

See the endo on Monday, what should I be asking???

Nodules are almost always evident with Hashimoto's. Having the correct amount of T4 AND T3 generally 'keep them at bay' as long as none of them are 'suspect' or are 'hot nodules'. You might want to find a site called stop the thyroid madness and do some research there.

My nodules (three of them) that kept getting larger were put 'in their place' by getting enough T3 (This is why it's so important to get Free T4 and Free T3 tested, NOT just TSH and T4 OR total T3 and total T4).

I think knowledge and research help me to better understand my disease process and also helps me understand my doctors.

You might want to ask your endo to do a biopsy of the nodules that have grown.

I have Hashi's, along with several nodules. My endo does an annual sonogram to check to see if they've grown because my Rx should keep them from growing. He has told me that if there's any growth, we'd do another biopsy.

I've had one biopsy (fine-needle aspiration or FNA) that showed benign, but nodules can become cancerous (majority don't) and growth is one sign to watch for.

Your endo will know whether the amount of growth indicates the need for a biopsy at this time.

Thanks. I have had one FNA and it was ok. Will wait to see how much they have grown...
